Set in the beautiful surroundings of Greetham Village, The Wheatsheaf has so much to offer. Warm cosy lounge and bar where the locals gather drinking a pint or two! The staff were very friendly and helpful, as when enquired about a meal booking for the following evening to be told they were fully booked, we were a little disappointed, so the bar person kindly said , 'but if you arrive earlier we can set up a table and you can eat in the lounge rather than the restaurant... bingo, we'll be there! So the following evening we arrived, we chose a table which was free and after a drink we placed our order! Well... the food came out beautifully presented, and it did not disappoint... it was a shear melt in the mouth experience, my lamb was cooked to perfection and my husband's pork with perfect crackling didn't disappoint! The accompaniments were equally as good! Dessert.... well what can I say, I think I had died and gone to heaven at this point! I feel you want a fabulous meal in a gorgeous setting don't hesitate, but if you prefer a restaurant then remember to book a while in advance!

Stayed at the nearby caravan site. Only got chance to visit twice but the landlord and lady as well as all the staff welcomed our family and friends as if we're long standing regulars. Beautiful place, people, beer and food. I never leave reviews but that kind of hospitality should be rewarded and shared. Thanks...... we visit many pubs whilst away. Never felt so well looked after. No complaints at all.

Having moved out of the village a couple of months ago and feeling so sorry to be leaving our local, although not gone far. Had lunch in there today, as always Scott , Carol and the team excelled in every area. The food was just amazing, the cider and onion soup yummy, the open steak sandwich scrummy and the chips here are a just the best. Last but never least, the atmosphere in here, so relaxed and friendly, always a bit of cheeky banter from Scott and Carol, well she is just the kindest most caring person we have ever met. Try the Wheatsheaf spritzer next time your in, very nice, I had two and then a lovely mug of hot coffee to finish. Wherever we are in the world we will always consider this place our local. X

Superb meal with my husband, daughter and family and even the dog was allowed in the bar under the table. Friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble.

First visited on our way to Scotland about a year ago and had one of the best lunches we have ever had. Called in with some friends on the way back from a recent holiday and again we weren't disappointed. Can't recommend the Wheatsheaf enough... oh and grab some of the Military Pickle

Came for Sunday Lunch from the nearby Caravan and Camping site with 5 others in the party. We had complementary Focaccia bread to start which was delicious and a lovely touch! Starters were generously portioned with plenty of unusual choices available. For the main event we had a combination of belly pork and roast beef with yorkshire puds, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, green beans and carrots. All of which were delicious and accompanied by the nicest gravy we have EVER tasted! Staff were very friendly and welcoming and prices very reasonable Would definitely recommend a visit! X

Flawless Great personal service, ambience, and top-notch food It was a great find, a 45-minute from home, and well worth it for a long overdue catch-up with a friend. Nice little touch of homemade onion bread and homemade butter served as a pre starter. For starters, we had chicken liver parfait, which was the best yet, smooth and creamy served with warm toast. Also, apple goats cheese and spiced pecan salad. Mains, both of us opted for the roast beef. I'm glad we did. Otherwise, one would have had good envy. Beautifully served pink with the largest Yorkshire pudding I've ever been served. Great combo of sides and sauces. Dessert, we didn't really have room, but we managed to share a pavlova! Delicious light meringue served with whipped cream and fresh strawberries. I would recommend a visit. We are looking forward to coming over on a week day in the near future.

Fabulous food (we were there for lunch) with friendly and attentive staff. I’m dairy intolerant and they picked that up from the booking and adapted my choices to ensure that I could enjoy a DF experience. Wish we lived closer so that we could have enjoyed some wine from their extensive list!!

We love the Wheatsheaf and will take any opportunity we can to go there. The service is first class and feels like coming home. The food is incredible - homemade and excellent quality. The sticky ginger pudding is my personal favourite! Thank you team - no doubt we will see you again soon!

What an amazing find. Everything about this restaurant was excellent and the food was exceptional. A group of 6 and all absolutely loved it. Wine also good quality and staff wonderful. Menu both interesting and varied. No pub grub in sight.

This is a good pub/restaurant in Greetham. We didn't eat here this time but we did last year when we were visiting Rutland. As I remember the food is good but the one thing this pub lacks is atmosphere. We called in for a drink and thank goodness we could sit in the lovely garden because the staff are just not welcoming, we feel it was because we weren't eating 😐 we felt the same last year but decided to give it another go.
