Reviews La Pizzoteca

On the way home from holiday I asked my daughter to book a restaurant for a meal, she decided on La Pizzoteca in Hither Green. We arrived by cab and thought Oh No, what has she booked? Actually thought it was the wrong place but went in anyway. There was only one person parent, he was the chef, barman and waiter, the place was empty! We booked and were hungry so we sat down non the less. We were warmly greeted given the menu and drinks orders taken. The starter of antipasti for myself and daughter, the wife had Parma ham and mozzarella, the portions were very generous, and all plates were cleaned. For the mains we had lasagne, pesto polo and linguini Gamberoni with a side dish funghi trifolati, again, generous portions that were to good to waste. I have no idea why this place was empty? I can only put it down to the size and location, this is a pity as it would surely be buzzing in a different location with a more favourable footfall! We will return again and as they provide a take away service we will take advantage of this. Don't just take my word, try yourself you will not be disappointed.

I wanted to try local restaurant near my place so I booked a table for two for a date night. Bf was amazed how authentic this place was because of the food we ordered. I weren’t able to take the photo of the pasta considering we were busy eating and it was delish! Bf had lasagna and i had the chicken and mushroom tagliatelle. Four stars just because the panna cotta was too firm (accdg to bf who is passionate and knows good food). Overall, bf and I had a delectable dinner. We would definitely be back to try their pizza👌

Just popped in by myself to carb load before the London Marathon. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was freshly cooked and very nice. I ran 3.28 so it must have done the trick.

Wonderful small local businesses with amazing, great quality food and service. From now on my beloved place in Lewisham for Italian antipasti and pizza.

Have had the pizzas a couple of times, first time I picked them up as takeout, but the place is so nice and cosy we decided to eat in the second time. Really nice relaxed place, lovely chef who was welcoming and attentive and offered to replace one of the topping when I asked for mine without mushrooms. Great pizzas, really nice thin crispy base, perfectly cooked and good ingredients. Only thing to improve is (as others have pointed out) slightly expensive wine options, but food is great value. A very welcome addition to the area!

Unbelievably good. How one chef managed to cook and deliver such great food, tasty, hot and absolutely delicious to a full restaurant was incredible? Will definitely be returning soon. Also enjoyed the chat with the guest on the table next to us ( full beard and long hair) who lives in the Almshouses close by

The food was absolutely lovely. The calamari starter was probably the best I’ve had (and I try a lot) My partner had pizza and I had the ravioli for main. Could not fault it. The staff were polite and attentive and were very welcoming. Although small, this restaurant is top tier and I would highly recommend!

Fantastic. We stopped in ad-hoc on a Saturday night for a sit down meal. I had visited this venue under its previous ownership and thought it was OK back then but thought it was long enough ago I should give it a second go. Boy, what a great decision that was. We both had the pizza and I added a could of toppings. Quick service, no sense of being rushed along etc. Chef made time to pop over and chat without being too overbearing. Food was some of the best pizza I have had in this country, the mozzarella seemed extra creamy yet not oily. Complimentary olives tasted fantastic. Also, they had what I assumed was an Italian radio station playing, piped over the internet. It gave the small restaurant an authentic vibe. If I was asked to criticize something it would probably be the wine price. I asked for house wine, they offered a very decent pinot grigio for £26. Given the pizzas were fantastic value at ~£11 the wine pricing seemed out if sync with that value range. But like I said, this was if I asked to balance out my review with a critique. I will definitely be returning here in the near future where I'll endeavour to take some photographs and update my review.

Absolutely delicious! We only discovered this place recently but it's definitely our new favourite place for pizza! Every time we have ordered from them the pizzas have been perfect and really flavoursome. They even gave us a free tiramisu with our last order which was so nice of them!
