The food and desserts were devine! The staff were cheery and helpful and were able to put up with our table of hysterically laughing women admirably! It may look like every other place along the street, but honestly, this is a fantastic hidden gem! Go, try the delicious food and you will be glad you went!

The best lasagna I’ve ever tasted! The food is fabulous and the people are lovely, they can’t do enough for you. From the outside it doesn’t look like much but once you get down the staircase it’s a lovely restaurant full of character. Will definitely be visiting this restaurant again next time we come to Great Yarmouth.

Delicious food. Plenty of choice for vegetarians. Lovely atmosphere and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Prices were also very good. I was rather disappointed that I let my friend have my 'coffee bean' off my dessert only to find it was made of chocolate. She said it was delicious though *5 stars*

Really nice place with great feel. My daughter fancied some spaghetti carbonara, so we decided to go there. No booking and they are getting pretty busy at some point but we'd been offered a table anyway. I liked the decor (it is in the basement but that only adds to the charm). I liked the music playing in the background as well as you can pretend you're on the streets of Italy 😉 Our food was served rather quickly, was full of flavour, very tasty. Staff very attentive and polite.

Just fancied an Italian meal during this short break. The albatross, despite its strange name, is a really great Italian restaurant. Don't be deterred by the stairs down to the basement. Once you go through the door it is great friendly service and a good varied menu and wine list. Avery enjoyable meal out.

I read the reviews before coming here and saw a range of good to bad reviews…. Let me tell you, this restaurant was SO good. Me and my partner both ordered the piccante pizza. It was amazing, by far the best pizza I’ve tasted, didn’t bloat me out either which I find most pizzas do! We ordered the homade desert of the day which was a chocolate cake. And oh my😍😍😍 was delicious you need to try. Very lovely atmosphere, music and waitresses. 10/10 from me and my partner ❤️

Had a very nice dinner with very good, friendly service. We were quite early in the evening but it had a nice atmosphere with a simple decor. Sample bottles of wine lined up on one wall is an original way of illustrating the wine list and the menu has lots to choose from. It's tucked away in a cellar but the signage is clear at street level and several other customers appeared after us which shows its popularity.

Good service, but out of Prosecco 'due to it being nearly end of season', but it was the first day of a 2week half term? House white was not my cup of tea ... and all other wines are only by the bottle. Calamari was the chewiest I have ever had ...... which was a shame because the rest of the meal was ace: Garlic mushrooms, lasagne, carbonara, a fillet steak and an amazing ice cream

We love this place, been the last couple of years and whilst it changed hands the food and service have not! A real experience that you must have if you come to Great Yarmouth.

This restaurant has VERY good food. But, music was not in setting with the atmosphere (old English music that shifted to earlier still old music) and it needs a serious touch up with decor, the paintings where like the music not Italian and didnt relate to eachother. With a good theme and better music this place would be awesome. Staff was all very lovely and welcoming/accommodating.

The service and meal we had were all very good quality with generous helpings. In fact couldn't fault the meal however the decor certainly needs an upgrade. Not sure if it has been re-decorated since the new owners took over but it is dowdy looking and the furniture old fashioned. The place would be much more appealing if it was brightened up. We will try it again in the future and hope the standard of the premises matches the good standard of the food.

Great service, tasty food. We came early at 5pm right after it has opened, so didn't have to book in advance, but for any later time a booking is highly recommended. I had a spaghetti Bolognese and house wine - delicious and for a reasonable price. The restaurant is located in the basement and the only way to get there is by going down a steep flight of stairs, so perhaps not the best for people with mobility problems. There was nice Italian music playing in the background, but nothing too loud to disturb our experience.

We stumbled upon this amazing Italian restaurant while staying in Great Yarmouth and I'm so pleased we did. I had the tagliatelle salmone and it was absolutely delicious. The cream sauce was so light and the salmon flakes were just so tasty. The tagliatelle was clearly freshly made and cooked to order. My hubby had the cheese tortellini with mushroom and again he said it was delicious. The staff are really friendly and were very attentive. The bill was very reasonable for such a high quality meal. We will definitely be back.
