From being met at the entrance to the whole attention of detail at the Carpenters arms, we were impressed. Carefully laid out, to give a feel of being very spacious and and a dining experience that was second to none. The young waitress that served us today was very professional, it was indeed her first day. I had to complement her on her amazing service. The food was really tasty and presentation was delightful, no complaints at all.. The place was full and had a great atmosphere. Would recommend!

Wonderful gastropub for a delightful Sunday lunch with the family. We were very well looked after by all members of staff. The menu was pared down for Sunday lunch but all items on the menu were of excellent quality. The wine list is interesting in that it focuses on a few local vineyards in addition to the usual selection of foreign wine. It would be nice to see a greater beer selection. There are rooms attached which we did not sample. All in all an excellent experience just outside Cambridge.

Went for a dinner here with a large group. Most of the party seemed to enjoy the meal, so it still gets a decent score, but was a little disappointing from a veggie perspective. The choices were a bit bland. The staff appeared very inexperienced with limited knowledge of the menu and wine list. When we found something that appeared to be a bone in the risotto it was quickly taken away and we were just told that it was nothing to worry about with no further information or actions which is not the standard to expect from such a highly reviewed restaurant.

Visited for a Saturday evening dinner, had been for a drink and restaurant looked lovely and so returned! Lovely atmosphere and setting, like the modern and bright restaurant area. The goats cheese starter was nice, maybe a little too much goats cheese even! I had fish and chips for the main course, my partner had the cheeseburger. Both pleasant but I would say a little expensive for what it was, £18 fish and chips and the cheeseburger could have benefitted from something else on the plate, small salad maybe. The desserts were amazing… so nice! Will return again for the dessert 🍨! Good service from a young team also. One piece of feedback - the toilets were nicely decorated but looked like the walls needed a clean. It’s a Matt paint used and it shows up everything… all flaws, marks and looked like they needed a clean. There was also tissue stuck to the wall in all three toilets under the dryer. Something for the team to look out for! Overall a nice experience and will return, just the main courses lacking something for the price. Desserts to die for though!

Had a really lovely meal last night. The food was spot on, the staff top notch and it’s dog friendly! Took advantage of 2 courses and a cocktail for £30 a head but will definitely be returning regardless

Hotel and restaurant are to a high standard of decor. Wonderfully clean and vibrant decor in a cuban-esque style. Amazing dining area with open kitchen overlooking a picturesque garden. Really well thought out space both in dining areas and rooms. In a quiet little village, about a 10-minute drive from Cambridge. Super clean. High standards. The food is delightful and at first sight a bit pricey, until presented with dinner offer of 2 courses £22. The best risotto I've ever tasted. Great breakfast, too. Plenty of food and nice coffee. Rooms are quiet and my bed and furnishings were REALLY comfy. I'll be back!

I'm a fan of the Chestnut Group chain and regularly go to them. This was my first trip to the Carpenters Arms and it was the BEST experience I've had at any venue, Emma who served us was incredibly attentive and engaging. I will 100% be visiting again with my family.

A 5 star service with every visit! We’ve been a few times now and cannot fault the service there. Tez (not sure if I’ve spelt her name correctly) is an absolute gem! First class service as always. If you’ve not been, it’s definitely a worth a visit. You will not be disappointed.

Excellent lunch with a mate, we chose from the A La Carte although there is also a fixed price menu available. Goats cheese starter was fantastic, and the Schnitzel up to the usual high standards. Service top drawer as well

Yesterday we had THE BEST Sunday lunch. Everything about it was perfect. A fabulous selection of vegetables with so much flavour, the beef was tender and delicious. Husband had roast pork and he’s still raving about it ! Puddings were just sublime. We go to the Carpenters a lot and it’s always good but it seems to have just gone next level. Service was bang on. In a word - exceptional. Thank you.

I had the most exquisite meal and evening here. The food was so obviously made with passion and attention to detail. The portions were sized perfectly and the experience from beginning to end was simply stunning. It is not often that you go out and get attentive service, beautiful ambience and such spectacular food all in the same venue but the Carpenters Arms have got the perfect balance. If you’re looking for a relaxed, friendly atmosphere in a stylish setting and food of a delicious standard, then this is the place for you. I will be back most definitely!

What a delight! I came across the carpenters arms by chance looking for a last minute overnight stay with dinner on the way south. Everything was hassle free from calling to book the room to checking in and re-arranging dinner time to them calling me after I'd left to say I'd forgotten my coat! The decor is stunning, both downstairs and in the bedrooms (which are a lovely size, VERY comfortable beds and linen, I didn't want to get out of bed!). The staff very friendly and helpful (Tez was very friendly and welcoming at breakfast and despite being a recent addition to the team very knowledgeable of the set up). The meal was delicious, if I had to say anything I would say the portions aren't hungry men size and paying for sides always grates; I'd rather pay a little more for the main and have some vegetables/salads included, even if they ask if you'd like any or not to avoid waste. The wine list comprehensive with the inclusion of local sparkling wines a nice touch, Service was attentive but not intrusive. You would not know it was part of a 'chain', but would definitely make an effort to visit others in the group. (perhaps you could start a group loyalty/membership scheme for customers to encourage them to eat/stay at others in the area?) Thank you very much and we hope to see you again!

Absolutely lovely experience, the roast beef was so good, I ate every last little bit! Went with my dad and son, both enjoyed their meals too. Lovely vibe within the restaurant and some good music in the background too, we will be back!
