Went for a relaxed meal for Father’s Day and the food and staff were great. Loving the new look pub much more hospitable as well. We had rotisserie chicken which is the best chicken I have had in a long time,steak, bacon burger with both sweet potato and potato fries and slaw. Portions were big and very filling. Desserts were 99 in a waffle cone, cookie dough sundae and lemon and lime tart which were excellent. Going back soon to try more of the menu!
Friendly, professional staff and excellent menu .. Lovely décor - far cosier than before - and relaxing bar area. Varied vegetarian selection - the Toad in the Hole was good and the beer selection was interesting. Only one suggestion - we had not booked and the restaurant was full. Only by chance as I was leaving did I mention was it possible to sit and have a meal in the bar area - and was told yes, which we then did. It was not made obvious to customers that they can sit in the bar area and eat if they wish. Otherwise great pub and will recommend. You deserve to do well.
First of many visits hopefully! Food was absolutely fantastic! Melt in the mouth beef brisket was to die for! Beautifully presented dessert too!

Myself and hubby went to the Prince Louis last night for the first time, the pair of us couldn't fault the food or the service, the waitress called Daisy was chatty, very polite and couldn't do enough for us, we had a starter each and portion size was good, then I had the 10 ounce rump steak cooked medium and it was perfect, hubby had 10 ounce ribeye cooked well done and once again it was cooked perfect for him as well, to think they had a busy afternoon catering for extra people as there was an activity on the green,

Went for lunch today. Great food, great decor,great staff ! I had the stinky Pete burger with sweet potato fries my wife had the chicken and bacon salad washed down with an ice cold Guinness and a ice cold cider. The staff were friendly and efficient, fantastic refit for a long overdue restaurant & pub for the village - will be back very soon !
Went for girlie lunch and a catch up on Friday - atmosphere perfect and wonderful welcome from the staff as we stepped across the threshold. Lovely buzz about the place with fab decor that breaks up the previous unwelcome barn feel and makes it so lovely to sit in. Food tasty and wine good and our server Susanne was attentive . Booked for 19th and 21st already with more friends! It’s just what we needed on Great Notley - Congratulations! X
Finally got to experience The Prince Louis last night and it certainly didn't disappoint. First class food, service was excellent and despite how busy it was the staff never stopped smiling throughout. My only concern is that I'll have no money left at the end of the month because I'm already booked in to go back. Congratulations to the whole team.
Very impressed after a lovely celebratory early Fathers Day family meal for 7. Great menu, lots of choice even for one gluten and dairy free diner. Polite and attentive staff, nothing too much trouble, we look forward to visiting again soon �

Went there yesterday for lunch. What a transformation the staff were very welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable. Food was excellent and the sticky toffee pudding was, for me, to die for. Well done to everyone involved it was an absolute pleasure to eat there

Went for a drink and meal on Thursday night, sat in the bar area which works really well if you just want to go for a drink. Loved the decor, beer was great (Frosted Heinken glasses a nice touch). Food was really good. Look forward to revisiting with my dogs next time and will be making it our regular haunt. Well Done to all the staff for making it work even though you are really busy.

We had the absolute pleasure of being served by Sarah, apparently a very new waitress of around a month.
Nothing was too much trouble, her care and attention was second to none.
It wasnt just for us, it was everyone we witnessed her serving.
Food, not so great Im afraid, as much as I wanted it to be perfect... we had mushroom suet pudding, this should be soft like a pillow, but this one was a bit dry. Mushrooms lovely to start with bit tad on slimmy side, needs another vegetable in the pudding to compliment the mushrooms.
Mash and gravy lovely, veg on side could do with slight more cooking as hard.
Apple pie and custard, sorry on this occasion pastry on pie undercooked, cooking apples inside tasted very sour, couldnt eat. Bill for two people with drinks £52.75.
Will return as staff are amazing. The steaks and burgers look good to try next time.
Visited here on a busy Friday night with some friends. Lovely atmosphere, lovely service, and overall good food.
My friend ordered a steak medium rare, which she sent back as it was very rare, and it still came back very bloody, so she decided not to eat it.
Shame it wasn't corrected. Otherwise, it would be 5 stars for everything.

Booked a table for 14.30 today 3/6/2022 arrived a few minutes early and was taken to a table and was asked if this was ok.
Ordered drinks they arrived. Asked if we were ready to order, to which we replied we were.
On ordering we were a little shocked that there was no pen/paper or iPad ordering System, and thought to ourselves ‘blimey how was our order going to come out’.
Anyway!!
I ordered steak medium to well done my husband the ribs and my son burger no lettuce.
OMG!!
Every part of our order was perfect, my steak as you can see from the photo was perfectly cooked, thank you chef. No lettuce in the burger, thank you kitchen staff.
But I must say on behalf of all 3 of us, thank you to our waitress for getting the order out correctly and we believe her name to be Nancy. Once again thank you.
Also, the ambiance of the place was buzzing, will certainly recommend and return x

Had a lovely meal here with the family. Prices are good for both food and drinks! It was my first time here but family had been here before for their pub quiz (which they spoke highly about!). Loved the decoration, space and atmosphere. Our server, Thomas, was great! Very friendly and service was quick too. Would definitely visit again :)

First meal eaten here yesterday with a group of friends, food was excellent and great value for money, service was outstanding, staff were all very attentive and exceeded our service expectations, and we were very impressed that a colleague could remember 6 drink orders and who ordered what without writing anything down, we will definitely visit again.
Nice pub restaurants in Braintree. Pub is named after Prince William's eldest son, and it was decorated with royal family themed memorabilia hanging on the wall. we didn't make a booking but the establishment worked around us and fitted us in.
I ordered a pub classic, steak and ale pie, being a northerner I wasn't disappointed!
I think the menu prides itself on the grilled meats, which my friends and family ordered.
I've been here twice and I think it's a really nice place to have a drink and some food!
I'd like to try some more of their local brewed beers and ales but I only tried their McMullan IPA which was ok tbh, I do prefer the Beavertown IPA, which I'll probably get next time.
