Even the menu is a normal pub menu, but food quality and tasty is beyond the normal pub food. Drinks are nice and dessert is definitely worthwhile £6.5. We don’t think the service is slow especially we visited in a summer Saturday night. Dog friendly as well, plus cute decorations. Just be little bit patient, drink, chat and even walk around (there is a filed just close by), but good food never can be rushed.

The food and service was exceptional. We were a group of 4 for Sunday lunch, 2 lamb and 2 veggie. Both were perfect, one of our party even said it wad the best sunday lunch she had had! Can also strongly recommend the bread and butter pudding for dessert, just lovely! All the staff were kind, helpful and attentive. Food arrived in good time, we didn't feel rushed but also weren't left hungry. Thank you very much for the lovely meal!

What a gem of a restaurant!! Very nicely decorated in classic country pub style, really nice staff!, and the food was out of this world! Really tasty, great portions and loaded with fillings! Very good prices, too, around £11-12 per main. Very good selection of drinks, especially gin, local Chase gin served. 100% recommend.

What a Gem of a pub.. food tasted like home cooked (but better 😊) not like the pre-warmed that other places serve. Really friendly gaffer who made you feel welcome and lovely bar staff.. definitely our new local 😉

Best pub food I’ve ever had! The menu offered lots of great options, but my boyfriend and I settled for ox cheek and horseradish mash from the specials menu. The meat melted in my mouth, credit to the chef and owners for creating such a wonderful meal. Thanks so much to the owner for making us feel so welcome. Great atmosphere and food - would definitely recommend!

We only come to the area once a year on holiday, so decided to give the Duke of York Inn a go after reading reviews. We weren't disappointed, as soon as we entered (with Buddy the Beagle also) we were made to feel welcome There was no rushing about, all the waitresses were attentive. We both had roast beef Sunday dinner, and can honestly say, it was probably the best we've ever had. For 2x dinners, 2x puddings, 2x pints each and a bottle of wine, less than £80. Perfection. 👍👍

Went for a Sunday lunch, it was very busy.We had our table allocated for 2 hours which was acceptable. Gluten and dairy free was catered for and I was offered a suitable dessert, but I did not have room. Veg arrived already plated up so no personal choice, I would have preferred it served separately as people have different preferences. I has a huge pile of pickled cabbage that I wasn't going to eat. The meat was beautifully cooked and very tender. The staff were lovely and very efficient.

Quite busy on a Friday evening but not bad. Great service and food was really nice. Butty Bach ale on tap was good. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.
