I walked in, parched and weary from a working week. I treat the average person with the understandable scepticism that comes with a customer facing job, so expectations are low when I approach the bar. Initially I am thrown off guard by the friendly, welcoming acknowledgement of the, as it will come to be known, accepting and capable bar tender. Moments later I am greeted by a double barrelled shot of comfort, a table of friends and a crisp, smooth sip of cold, tantalising lager. Suddenly the stresses of the day melt away and I realise I am where I want to be for the remainder of the evening. The anchor, where time stops, and yet, the good times begin again. Five stars my friends. Five stars.
Very busy pub with a nice log fire just what you need on a chilly night. Good choice off of beer and ales did not try the wine. Cosy village pub with good service and friendly staff.
Lovely old style pub. Good beer and good food.
