Well what can I say...! Firstly never been here before but entered competition on facebook and won a 3 corse meal plus a bottle wine. Upon arrival got welcomed by head chef Luke and seated to our table, followed by our choice of bottle of wine which was lovely. Starters was amazing one of the best I have had, followed by main which I had steak and ale pie with chips very tasty and gravy amazing. We then really had to struggle to have desert but managed to push one Down. My over all rating of this place was not what I was expecting , staff fantastic , food amazing , entrainment great so will be going back very soon for another lovely experience .

I come here nearly every day after a night shift at the bookies for a drink whilst my taxi is on its way, staff are always so welcoming to let me sit and wait even when I don’t have a drink.
I also come here tons of times with my mum and friends and well its a fabulous pub the food is fantastic and the staff and regular punters are hilarious, I can not recommend this pub enough for family events or just the odd evening out for drinks!!

Had lunch today and was very pleasantly surprised! The food was delicious (I can recommend the fish finger sandwich!), staff were very friendly and welcoming.We were delighted to find a bar billiards table. We enjoyed several games after our lunch and I loved it! We will definitely be back!

Couldn’t fault the food, the value for money or the polite well mannered staff. We will be returning very soon with the intention of trying the entire menu!!

Had a family meal here today for a special birthday and it was great ! Jack and the Chef went way beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us all including my young daughter who has severe food allergies ! Thank you so much !

Blue Lion is the best pub in Baddow. The food and hospitality is always spot on. The owners are so friendly and make you feel so welcome. To top it off, the food & drink served here are brilliant. We had the roast beef sandwich which was awesome. Lovely bread, lovely chips, lovely coleslaw and portion size and price were 👍
Popped in for a quick drink on Easter Sunday having visited the Blue Lion before and since most recent ownership change. Atmosphere was relaxed in the beer garden with friendly table service. The Blue Lion is dog friendly outside and there were plenty of other visitors with dogs - fresh water bowls were provided to each table. We didn't eat but the food coming out looked tempting. This pub has changed quite a lot over the last few years and is well worth a visit if you haven't been for a while.
Brilliant pub, recently came under new ownership and really turned the place around. Prices can be a bit high, but the food is absolutely wonderful. The menu changes every so often with the season but always hits the spot. Lovely beer garden that's dog friendly too. Easy to book a table by calling too. Staff are really friendly, helpful, and always on hand.
Went to the Blue Lion for our daughter's birthday as a group of 10 people. As we booked before hand the pub had our table already layed out for us in a nice area away from the main bar where people were enjoying a good pint and watching the football on the TV. The staff were very attentive and friendly... and the food was cooked quickly and was very tasty and the portions were large so go with a big appetite if you go there to eat. Would highly recommend this pub for both the food and also if you just want to go for a drink. Thanks guys... we will be back again soon.
Fantastic evening at the Blue Lion which is under new management since November 2020. Staff were so friendly, food and drinks were delicious, with a smaller outside menu. The outside garden has been beautifully redesigned, with some undercover seating and had some tables with heaters, which can be requested when booking. Also looks like a great pub garden to go when the suns out. Highly recommend.
Friendly, professional staff, with a cozy atmosphere, live music, and good food priced reasonably. Owner is hands on with the wait staff making sure everything goes smoothly. Would definitely come back for more!
I hadn't been here since pre covid times due to the previous problems there. Oh wow what a difference. Lovely staff with table service, fast service, nice music, heaters, the place is no longer a gathering for the druggies but a nice place for friends and family to have a beer. Only downside was closing 10pm but hopefully that will be extended in the future
Popped in on recommendation from friends & we certainly weren't disappointed. Exactly the sort of local pub Great Baddow has been so desperate for. The burgers were cooked to perfection - the charcoal infused bun giving them the edge on everywhere else selling a burger. Very good attentive service, particularly good attention paid to covid safety. Chose a Chardonnay which was very good and not oaky which is a plus for me ! Congratulations to the new owners - I'm sure if they continue to be a cut above the rest, it'll be a hugely successful local. Give them a try yourselves.
It's some years since I last visited, and The Blue Lion has changed considerably in that period.
No more the stand at the bar and order type of venue, instead you are invited to choose a table and served by pleasant and smartly dressed staff.
Little touches also add to the experience such as napkins rather than beer mats, packets of crisps served with a tea plate and a napkin and a decent portion of mixed nuts delivered in a cup and saucer and the ever present black napkin.
Decor is clean, tidy and varied and the place is frequented by both regulars and occasional visitors such as myself, all of whom were greeted well and made to feel welcome.
Apart from the nuts, I am yet to sample the food, so another visit is on the cards.
All in all a very pleasant visit.
Had a delicious Sunday roast here this week. It was Mother's day so most tables were taken but everything was very prompt and the staff were friendly and attentive. Roast potatoes were superb. Also had a really nice non-alcoholic Beavertown beer rather than just the boring Becks Blue often on offer in pubs!
Dog friendly, just taken dog for walk in park and need sit down. Nice beer garden and they were happy to bring drinks out to me, they even had dog biscuits as treat for my dog.
Congratulations on a lovely venue: A lovely set lunch menu too at good value.
Since the new management we would highly recommend. Superb - every time!! Whether it is drinks, dinner or a group gathering The Blue Lion is superb.

Had a midweek catch up with a friend, and what a lovely little pub. Attentive bar staff, table service. Good drink menu. But the outside space is lovely. And you can bring a pup !
I don't really like pubs or pub food. But good god. What a gem this place is. I've never tasted food perfection like this. Chips. Out of this world put 0f 3 main courses all of us gave it top marks. Food. And service. Will defo return as soo. As we can.
We've had a good think and we've decided to rate this place 6 million out of ten.

Went here Sunday 18th of September with my family. All of us had 3 courses and all of us was very impressed with everything. My bruschetta, roast dinner, and dessert was fantastic. The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive especially to my mother which was lovely to see. Again all the food was quality and each course was presented beautifully. Wonderful place with wonderful staff. Will be visiting again in the future.
Excellent venue for Sunday lunch. Really good menu. Pleasant staff. Order taken promptly as was the meal with extrs gravy provided automatically. Very good portions. My wife and I both left some veg. Good choice of desserts. Only normal coffee served but again promptly and was hot. Highly recommended.
