Now I've had time to write a proper review,
Last night me and Cazzy tried Joplins for the first time ever,
It is safe to say we were not disappointed, the place had a lovely atmosphere and welcoming, attentive staff who also had good knowledge of the menu they talked us through โญ๏ธ
They then seated us and gave us a menu and shown us a board in readable distance for the seafood specials,
Water and some bread and butter were brought to us whilst we looked at this menu,
We then chosen 3 starters between us (as this was the smallest we could narrow down trying!)
The seafood pancake,
Beautifully cooked thin pancake with a cheese sauce to die for, can't remember the types of fish with it but it tasted like there was a fair bit of variety :) it was well balanced and for me a good portion size (nice and big :D) when I go again, this starter is a front runner ๐
Seafood mussels with white wine, garlic, herbs and cream, my best friend had this and she thoroughly enjoyed it, a bowl was brought over for finger washing and a small bowl was brought to put the shells in, this small bowl was regularly replaced with a clean one as she filled it, I did try a few and although personally I aren't overly keen on mussels they tasted like little bites of heaven, cooked again to perfection and the sauce... beautiful ๐
I also had a seafood tower? Not sure on the exact name as my memory fails me, but that was a high quality small tower containing crab meat and prawns, with I think a Marie rose type sauce... it was light but there was enough for a starter, personally after eating it, it made me ready for my main course as it got my tastebuds excited and ready for the main course, or in this case the show stopper!
(As we had 3 starters between 2 of us they also brought an extra few plates for us to share!)

After the starters they then gave us a much needed break before the main course as we were slipping from reality into heaven with this glorious food,
Our main courses were then brought over,
Steak - my best friend had the steak main, (she was asked how she liked it cooked before which again was done exactly), she was rendered into silence on the first bite which means she really enjoyed it ๐ when she could find her words she said that it was "melt in the mouth" and then there were lots of mmmmms and smiles as she said how good it tasted,
A bowl full of veggies were placed between us that we shared and these were, well there isn't much to say other than cooked perfectly ๐ the potatoes were simply the best ๐
I had the king prawn and monkfish with Malibu sauce,
That dish, has made me believe in magic, the sauce.... where do I start to explain, I would highly recommend to go there purely just for that sauce ๐ it's bringing a smile to my face.... there's good... but then there's joplins malibu sauce ๐
The monkfish and king prawns weren't even under shadowed by this amazing sauce as the flavours were all perfect matches and there was enough fish in the dish ๐ for what we paid ๐
We both will most definitely be going back next time we re in Great Ayton and I personally would highly recommend it if you appreciate good quality food ๐
This is the best eating place anywhere. Everything is first rate.
Went here for a special night... food was unbelievable, first visit here and I definitely recommend and go back..
The Restraunt is friendly gives excellent service and the food is fantastic My husband and I have worked our way through the menu and have not been disappointed with any of the starters or meals my favourite Restaurant a must try
We have been going to Joplins for over 20 years - it is our favourite restaurant. It is consistently amazing. The peppered fillet steak is the best we have ever tasted.
Superb in every way! Finally found a restaurant that can cook fish perfectly. Staff were very friendly and efficient, ambience is warm & welcoming. We went on a recommendation and was not disappointed, Joplinโs will definitely be on our list to dine again.
If you have never been to this little jewel, I suggest you do. Great hosts and amazing food.

This was an amazing dining experience from start to finish. We dined here for my birthday. Best choice we could have made. Wonderful staff, couldn't do enough for us. The food is delicious, best seafood we have ever had. If we could give it 6 stars we would. We can't wait to return in the future.
Most amazing seafood we have had in a long time, clean, fresh and well presented. Friendly staff and a wonderful atmosphere.
Went for our Anniversary had a lovely welcome on arrival and staff were great starters I had a seafood pancake which was lovely and the main was monkfish and kingprawns with vegetables which were cooked to perfection highly recommended

Spectacular find.
This place has been going many years, and succeeding for a reason. The passion and talent of the team running it is clear.
Food was delightful, cost was reasonable, service tremendously welcoming (could have upsold me on the wine, but didn't, and the choice was superb).
It's high quality sea food done well. I'd bet the meat options were quality to, but no way was I passing up the fish to try it. Especially with the quality of the white wine on offer for a very reasonable price.
Clean, this applies to the facilities as well, but accessibility might be an issue for the facilities which are at the back of the establishment and up a hefty step with a bit of a squeeze past a large main table. Nice traditional vibe in the restaurant. Lovely atmosphere of diners enjoying themselves. Not a huge amount of tables, so quite intimate, but you're not on top of each other.
Small bar area to wait if you're early, or enjoy one more drink (though we never felt rushed).
Another superb evening. The food was amazing, some of the best starters we've had. Well done Martin, Gill and the very pleasant young man serving on.
Service was very efficient and polite without being overbearing or intrusive. The food was top-notch. Fish is a real hassle to do well and they made it truly delicious. Definitely only a place for special treats (unless they do an early bird deal - hint, hint!) because neither does it pretend to be, nor is it, cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for. All in all a first rate evening.
