Reviews Goody Blake's

This place deserves all the support needed as they together with lots more businesses have suffered terribly since the dreadful flooding in December. The food is second to none and the welcome you get is so warm. My Wife and I ride our motorcycle to Grasmere quite regularly and always make a bee line for Goody Blake's restaurant. The restaurant is tucked away at the back of the gift shop with the Sheep stood on the wall outside. We can recommend their Leek, potato and pepper soup and Coronation chicken sandwich. My Wife had Cheese and Pickle sandwich with her soup. Highly recommend.

Amazing food, amazing staff and equally amazing chef!! This is a hidden gem in the Village of Grasmere and really is worth the visit. You are made welcome the second you walk in the door by friendly staff. We found you on Trip Advisor where you have excellent reviews, you will have another one soon. We visited you on two evenings as the service we received the first night was fantastic and the food also fantastic. Thank you from the both of us helping us celebrate our anniversary with some outstanding food! We will be back when we are in the area again! So look forward to seeing you again! xxx Sarah and Andrew

I didn't expect to much but hoped for the world, garlic mushrooms with bacon on toasted bread was beautiful followed by the Beef Stroganoff which was superb. World delivered. If your in Grassmere I would heartily recommend a meal here and the staff are friendly too.

Me and my partner visit grasmere every year and we always visit restaurants in the nearby area. No where has left such an impression on us, though. The interior (and exterior) is very quirky and homely - which is the vibe I absolutely love when dining; as it creates a comforting atmosphere. The waitress, Linda, kept making us laugh and was overall extremely friendly and attentive. I had the cheesy pasta special, and my partner had the stir fried king prawns with sweet chilli, which we both loved! My partner kept commenting on how “perfectly cooked” the prawns were and “fresh” they tasted. He comes from a culture where food is very important so it’s lovely to have seen him enjoy every last bite of his meal! Massive thanks to Clarke, the chef, for two lovely meals!! We came here pretty late but did not feel rushed at all. Massive thank you again to Linda and Clarke! We will absolutely be back on our next yearly visit and we are looking forward to it already! X

The interior is quirky and different, if you like quirky you will love it here. Delicious food, for starters we had the soup of the day and the battered camembert. Mains was the sea bass and the beef stroganoff. All fantastic. The staff were lovely. At the end of the evening the chef came out and we all had a good natter, he's very passionate about his ingredients and cooking and it showed in the meal. Will definitely return.

Was slightly wary of eating here because of some of the reviews and the fact that it was empty when we arrived. Our fears were groundless. The food was freshly cooked to order and was delicious. We had a chicken and chorizo skillet, and the sea bass which was a special of the day. Excellent food in a simple, unassuming setting with great, friendly service. Don't believe the negative reviews, they're not related to the experience we had.

Unassuming in appearance we discovered Goody Blake's only on our last day in Grasmere... otherwise we'd be back agzin very soon. The menu is surprisingly extensive, the food was both excellent and substantial. The staff were attentive and friendly. We caught it on a quiet day but, when full, I'm sure the place would be buzzing!

Excellent little spot nice to be in somewhere different with options instead of your usual chain pubs burgers

Good solid classic fare. I had an excellently cooked slab of sirloin steak with chips, salad and excellent onion rings. A good hearty dessert too. A good meal. Super beer, not amazed by the Rioca wine. The experience was let down by the fact that only one person was able to pay for the 15 meals and drinks in our group due to some odd accounting contrivance. The singer who started her set towards the end of our meal needed to turn down her speaker by two-thirds and the group was not particularly keen on not being able to hear anyone speak.

Always have dinner once a year on my our annual lake district visit. Lovely food & service, encouraged us this time to bring our dog and she was treated to a fresh bowl of water and some bacon.

Nice casual place, delicious and friendly. The deep fried Camembert and the profiteroles topped off a very nice beef stroganoff.

Visited this restaurant with family (5 adults) for dinner on the 25th February 2022 and we are so glad we did... it was a fantastic meal. The food was outstanding and the service was also great. To be honest the prices were great..and possibly too low for the quality of food that we were served. We can't recommend this restaurant enough...and we will most certainly be going back during our week in Grasmere. Give it a try if you're in Grasmere...you won't be disappointed.

Awesome (fellow) Scottish chef (except he actually sounds Scottish unlike me). He somehow made a vegetable broth taste as good as a Scotch Broth (it was great). I then had the Cajun salmon, which was excellent and then a tiramisu. The tiramisu I make at home is nice, but his was the food equivalent of a firework display with all the good parts exploding together. My companion had a fantastic apple strudel, which I also got to taste. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Absolutely delicious home cooked food. Everything is so fresh and cooked to perfection, me and my partner came here two nights out of the three we stayed in Grasmere and wish we went more! The staff are so accommodating and friendly, nothing is too much hassle for them. My favourite eatery in Grasmere!
