We went passed the café on our cycled ride but didn't actually stop because we had our own lunch with us. The café is in an extremely picturesque part of Borrowdale and I imagine the menu and service are equally enjoyable. Now we know it is there, it's on our list to visit.

Fully enjoyed this cafe. The parsnip soup with cheese scone was exceptionally good. The coffees also very good quality too. The gingerbread and ice cream were similarly exceptional. Combined with such a beautiful setting and ample outdoor seating on picnic tables this is a must see place in Grange. Try it.

Nice spot to grab a bite to eat en-route to or on the way back from Castle Cragg. Sat outside by the river which where there are a number of picnic benches. Very limited parking nearby so likely to struggle if visiting by car. Had a cheese toasty, fruit scone and a very nice chocolate milkshake.

Nice food very welcome after a days walking. Service was slow... proprietors son needed a lot of direction and they all seemed a bit stressed. Cheese scone and soup was a delight! Haven't seen a banana split on a menu for some time, well worth a visit!

Brilliant little Gem! Very busy, but the family that run it are on the ball. Superb food all home made, from pies to the fruit scones withe homemade jam. A few negative reviews about the staff...ignore. they are busy and getting the wonderful food to you quick hot and fresh!

Ummed and aahed over 3 or 4 stars here. If you don't know Grange it's a fabulous spot which I'm sure is heaving in high season. The tea room is in a lovely little cottage just over the bridge. It has a garden area which i think borders the river (it was closed due to the weather when we visited). We got a couple of sandwiches, some tea and shared a slice of cake. It was all as you'd want really - simple, but no issues. Even the little salad garnish with the sandwich was actually decent to eat rather than being a dried up afterthought as it can be. Cakes were more than decent. Service was OK, but we both picked up a slight vibe of it being far from a labour of love for the owners. It may have been an off day and it was the end of a long hot season, but it took the shine off the experience a little - we noticed another guest try to make a little polite conversation with one of the owners and get nowhere. We asked for a recommendation on which of the cakes to try - "I don't eat cake" came the reply - oh, ok then. But I would still recommend the place and encourage you to try - we'll certainly be back another day.

Went here for a quick cold drink after we got off the bus and headed to do Castle Crag and ended up staying for food as well. View of the lake was so lovely, especially with the sun shining down on us. There was a new young staff member who was very polite and friendly. Food was lush, I had a greek salad and the cheese toastie my bf had was also very delicious!

Tiny but good little tea shop in one of the smallest villages in England. Located right in the heart of Borrowdale, its the perfect place for a pre, mid or post walk snack, hot drink or meal. The food is cheap, fairly basic but very good and the owners helpful and very friendly.

Simply superb site to sit and ponder ; lovely tranquil surroundings for a.cuppa with snacks or even a hearty home made fresh meal. The owner couple are very welcoming and hospitable. I sincerely hope it remains open and continues to serve visitors ; my late wife and I have been visiting this place for many many years. Now she is gone but i visit with my grandchildren and their parents PROF ARUP BANERJEE BOLTON

Good service even when we ordered food 1 day close to closing time. We made a point to also visit after long walks to treat ourselves to generous portions of ice cream.
