This Pub is so amazing! Dog friendly and spacious backyard more seats available. We had a sumptuous dinner with friends and our favorite 🐶 Roly. Our 2nd time of visit.. be back again soon! Highly recommended! Cheers 🥂
Great pub. First visit - on a pub crawl of the Alverstoke area - Wadworth beers were spot on (tied Wadsworth pub), friendly welcome from both staff and customers and a pleasant light interior. Believe has a popular garden but I sat inside. Thanks all for a pleasant few halves. Edit : all the real ales were some of the best quality Wadworth beers I've had for a long time 🍺
First visit. Great garden and tasty food. Prices not too bad. Love the attitude towards the doggies
Hadn't been here before but took my dad and his wife for Sunday lunch. Really impressed with the food, the roasts were really good and they have a kids menu if (like me) you have fussy kids who don't really like a roast. Everyone was pleased with their food, had a decent selection of beers and the puddings were excellent. All round really happy and would come back again.
A proper pub. Went for a function out the back, a great spread by the pub and they kept on top of it making it look great all the time. Good section of beers and drinks. Very welcoming, friendly locals and the manager was on the ball with everything that happened. Great night, thank you all.
Very nice indeed. I really enjoyed the food, so did my friends. The staff were quite lovely.
A large, friendly pub with a huge garden including play area and patio. Very dog friendly inside and out with treats behind the bar.
Swordfish and 6X bitters were well kept also the Weston cider on draught.
Food was very good, the homemade burgers and panini went down well. Deserts are excellent especially the white chocolate creme brulee and sticky toffee pud.
25 minutes walk from Gosport ferry terminal, cycles can be parked in the garden if you ask but car parking is difficult nearby.
Really lovely pub with a lovely garden area. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The manager was a really nice bloke, good sense of humour and very generous. I didn't eat there myself but the food smelt and looked amazing. I was with a large group of people and some of them did eat and said it was really good food. I can't wait to go again.
Unfortunately the kitchen was closed tonight, (my bag, I should have checked) but the staff were very happy to allow us to get a takeaway delivered and eat it there. They even gave us the phone number of the local Chinese.
As always everyone was most welcoming, especially the dogs. And we had a wonderful evening.
I use to think that you cant have a fantastic meal in U.k.until today.Walking down the streets of Gosport, looking for the ferry back to Portsmouth we get to see the Fighting Cocks pub.And we were talking about having a pint and maybe something to eat.
Dont be drag away from the outside look. They have an impressive beer garden on the back and the food was....spot on.Even for vegans(as me) they have some very interesting options. The prices were just like in any other pubs in Portsmouth.
And the bartenders were friendly and very helpful..There is no discussion,i will recommend the place to everybody who goes to Portsmouth.
Hopefully, one day i will get to come back .
Needed a spot to stop for food and drinks in between attending a wedding and going on to the evening do.
Service was great and delivered with a smile and the food was fabulous!
Lovely little pub, glad we found it.
Found this place by accident, having taken a wrong turn. Lovely, bright and airy interior, VERY comfortable ambiance, super friendly and welcoming staff...and one of THE most beautiful young ladies behind the bar. The landlady is quiet special too.
Free WiFi, free car parking in the street and opposite the pub. Decent menu (I didn't eat on this visit). From a personal perspective, there were too many dogs on my visit, but presumably, this will suit many? This venue also has a beer garden. Sensibly they have time restraints on evening closing, thus respecting their neighbours.
Highly recommended.
All very good we were a group of 12 and one of tge people had a seat by a door. Though it didn't seem to bother him as he enjoys talking to the people who came through.
Called in for lunch whilst out walking. Excellent food and good value for money. Will definitely be going back😁
Great food, best Sunday dinner I’ve had in a long time the gammon was beautifully cooked compliments to the chef ❤️
Visited on a Sunday when they have a large selection of roasts. I had the lamb shank that was superb and reasonably priced for the quality. The service was excellent and the decor in Spring was beautiful. They have a great garden with facilities for kids to stay amused. The rest of the menu looks awesome too.
First visit to the Fighting Cocks and very impressed. Very large inside with large well appointed garden and play areas. Lovely bar staff and food which was served very quickly. Will definitely use again when in the area.
