Great food, with an excellent atmosphere. Really enjoyed our Sunday lunch. We will be visiting again.
A fantastic pub with fantastic food and service! We had an excellent meal last night, the atmosphere was lovely and the staff were extremely friendly. Niamh went out of her way to make our meal just as we liked it. We will definitely be returning!
Whilst visiting my Mum, my Wife and I decided to take her out for lunch and it was decided to visit The Stag's Head. After ordering drinks at the bar, we were kindly shown to a table and provided with menus. Once we'd decided on our starters and Mains, we placed our order and waited patiently whilst catching up.
After only a very short time, the starters arrived and set the standard for the rest of the meal. The Black Pudding & Bacon Stack was absolutely delicious. The combination of the black pudding, the crispy bacon and the soft hen's egg was a match made in heaven and was a joy to savour. Only a short time after finishing, the main course arrived. In my case, this was the homemade Lasagne. Whereas lasagne can sometimes be a little sloppy, this one was a triumph. It held together wonderfully, with a perfect ratio of pasta to mince to sauce, coupled with the beautiful cheesy topping. This ensured that every bit of it was eaten instead of worn, as has happened in the past with lasagne from other places. The side salad and soft, succulent garlic bread perfectly complimented the lasagne and made for a delicious main course.
Lastly, the puddings were shortly despatched and finished off the meal perfectly. I had the Sticky Toffee Pudding with warm custard. It was heavenly. Just the right amount of gooey, soft, sweet, warm and filling. When asked afterwards how everything was, my only response was "Food coma" as I was so full and fulfilled. The service was friendly, swift and polite. Overall, the place is incredibly welcoming and the food is mouthwatering. We all felt the same after such a satisfying meal. We'll definitely be visiting again.
We really enjoyed our rendezvous at the Stag's Head last Friday evening.
Our food was delicious and the service was excellent.
Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive.
Our table was ready for us when we arrived, a table for four by a window at the front of the building.
It's a few years since we last visited this place and each of us agreed it was a great choice.
Thank you to all concerned 👍🏻
We visited the Stagshead earlier today as a family group of 6 adults, 3 children and a baby. We all had starters and main courses and three of us had deserts. The Stagshead is a quaint old fashioned pub with a large car park. It has a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very good. We were served very efficiently and they were very personable. The food is exceptional!!! Each course was beyond perfect. We dine out quite regularly usually back home in Devon but the Stagshead is probably the best restaurant meal we have ever had. We all would highly recommend the Stagshead and will definitely be coming back again soon when we are up visiting our relatives who live nearby. 5 stars in every department!!
Overall the food was excellent, however my wife's burger was under cooked as it was still red in the middle. This was brought to the attention of the waitress and she would let the kitchen know, however we didn't get any feedback from her regarding the none consumed burger,
I felt that this was a legitimate complaint that was not dealt with in the first instance.
Happy after asking for the duty manager this was rectified and taken off the bill.
The issue is inexperienced staff should have brought this matter to the attention of the manager in the first place sending undercooked food is a big issue.
I would gladly have given a 5 🌟 on all aspects.
Further staff training required when dealing with a food complaint.
Went on Saturday with a couple of lads from work for Monty’s birthday food was amazing staff was every very friendly and helpful even made a dessert to my specification as didn’t want the ones one the menu. We ordered a slice of cake for the birthday boy and everyone joyed in to sing happy birthday to Monty which was great. Thanks again to all the staff and hopefully see you all again soon.
Had a lovely lunch today. The loveliest lady Sue served us and she could not do enough for us. She was polite, friendly and smiley. The photo was also wonderful as always. We travel 30 minutes here because we enjoy it so much every time. Really recommend. The sweets are the end were a nice touch :)
What a lovely little find! Travelling back from Lake District to south Manchester and this was about half way through our journey. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was very efficient and the waiting on team were very pleasant. A lovely warm welcome and cherry goodbye and I’ll probably travel the distance to eat here again!
Had an evening meal there tonight and the food was amazing. Staff were lovely and friendly and a cozy atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.
We've been here a few times, always been very good, big portions.
Went yesterday, total disappointment.
Hubby had chicken ciabbatta, salad ,chips off the dinnertime specials, £8.95, which reasonably priced, I asked for a salad, I've had these before and they've been huge, fresh and allsorts in it,this one wasn't the usual,,bit of lettuce, 1 cherry tomato, bit of pepper and cucumber, it was also £8.95.
We were with family, and I didn't want to cause a fuss, so I didn't say anything, if we were on our own I would have, totally put me off going again.
We came for Sunday lunch today and had a really great experience. From the moment we entered the staff were welcoming and helpful. The food and service was excellent 🙂 Charlotte and Imogen looked after us really well. I look forward to returning 🍹
The Stags Head is bursting with character. The quintessential British pub serves all the standards and it's their own spin on some cross-border dishes as well. Everyone at my table of 10 raved about the food. This photo is the "small" fish and chips. Get it for roughly half the price of the full entree and save room, and budget, for a starter and dessert.
Lovely food, reasonably priced and nice atmosphere
Food absolutely lovely. Fish and chips mushy peas tartar sauce couldn't fault it. Children's menu starter main and desert no complaints my youngest wolfed it down. Staff on the ball here. Hubby also had a lovely meal. Definitely recommend
