First time I've been in a long time, and I loved it. I had a carvary and the amount of meat you get is unreal. It was very hot really enjoyed it definitely going back there. At first I thought £8.95 was a bit dear but it's worth every penny. Yes it's a outdated building but that's how it is. Yes they charge you £1.50 for use of debt cards just make sure u take cash.. but if you don't mined paying it then that's ok.. The staff are friendly and helpful. I even took meat home for my dog as they where to much. Lol.

Simply the best village pub. Warm friendly atmosphere, fantastic food (particularly the home made chips and Sunday carvery); kids play area, acres of space and a pool outside for the summer and a roaring fire in winter with occasional live music. What more could you want?

Love this place. Best food for miles around. Eat there on a regular basis. Never had a bad meal there and must have had a hundred or so there over past 2 years Beautiful building, serving high quality, beautifully presented food all day, everyday. Friendly staff, and equally welcome to locals and non locals. Playground is great for kids - exciting and safe. Yurts are beautiful - would stay myself if I didn't live so close. Pics are just some of things I have eaten recently...

Wonderful pub, modern interior with original artwork on the walls, rustic touches with the beams and roaring fire, well stocked bar and really gorgeous bistro-pub menu. We love the cafe most of all though, warm and inviting with a really tasty breakfast and brunch menu, milkshakes and proper decent coffee. Always a friendly welcome.

What a great pub this is, they really are trying hard with something going on most nights of the week. We walked up from the canal, a little hard going as the path was overgrown (other paths are available) but not unpleasant. It was bikers night, we weren't sure what that was until we got there and saw the 20 or so motorbikes at the rear of the pub. They were all having a good time and everyone was outside as they do a BBQ on that particular night - we decided to stay inside as my wife hates the midges! It was quiet in the restaurant but that didn't bother us as the full al a carte menu was available. I had a rump steak and my wife had the pork tenderloin, both good portions, well presented and delicious. Although we were quite full after the main meal we both weakened, especially when my wife saw the Jam roly poly, smothered in custard. I had the New York cheesecake, delicious. Several real ales were on the handpumps and we both had the Dizzy Blonde from Robinsons as it's an old favourite. The staff were friendly and helpful and the service was good too. For a village pub, this place really is excellent, I wish we had one as good where we live! To top it all, one of the staff gave us a lift back to our boat on her way home as it had got dark due to our extended stay!

Called in for lunch on a bike ride. Lovely staff and great pizza. (Would have liked a sandwich option though, only reason for 4 stars not 5) Very interesting Mango Cider, would be easy to drink too much.

Great food (the parmo was awesome) and the staff were so friendly. It got really busy by 7pm on Saturday night and we can understand why. We will definitely be returning

We went on a cold, wet winters afternoon. I was surprised how busy it was, with more people arriving all the time we were there. A quaint Tudor style interior with a lovely open fire. How pubs used to be, friendly, warm & inviting. All the staff seem very happy to be working there not surprising with the chef in the carvery full of smiles for everyone as he carved the delicious meats. It's a very well priced carvery (I think we paid £8.00 each). Three meats were on offer, Pork, Beef or Turkey & fresh vegetables. We didn't manage a desert but they looked lovely. A calm quiet atmosphere with families with very well behaved children all enjoying a Sunday Roast. We drove down from York after this place was recommended. It's a bit out of the way but we'll worth a visit.

Absolutely cracking food, great service, atmosphere & lovely people! What more can you ask for? The food is well worth a drive to would recommend booking as does get busy especially on Sundays. Huge outdoor area with stuff for kids. Dog friendly ❤️ Nice cocktails too as well as good quality beers 🍻

I feel like this is the most important thing to mention. IT'S DOG FRIENDLY! 🐶 🥰 I just love that! ❤️ Environment; I look online to see if their was an online booking service. Booking is recommended but since there was only a phone number and email we just did a walk in which was fairly risky being a Sunday afternoon. But there was no issue seating us, plenty of spaces. 🙌🏻 I preferred the main, room put the walk-in room had an awesome chandelier, plenty of character and things to look at yet it seemed empty and cold, not as in temperature but environment. Fairly conflicting statements, I can't quite put figure out that feeling. The Food; For this style of meal I'd much prefer to get it myself. We're fairly past covid times now in terms of regulations. I'm not sure if it's a covid thing or just how they do it. I was happy to see a good chunk of meat on my plate I was extremely happy with that and the condiment options. The yorkshire pudding was nice and crispy on the outside but a bit soggy on the inside, at first the stuff in was nice but had a constancy of almost creamy smash. Two rosties didn't seem enough. The veg that came out was mostly stuff I wouldn't have picked on a self serving carvery since I'm unfortunately not a veg lover but I do try them when I can. Everything was dry and crunchy. Even the cauliflower with cheese. I like carrots but they didn't look appetising in appearance. But I was just so happy with the meat and the dinner on my plate was okay. After dinner my fella finished his Coors and I had my Old Mount over a game of pool which I really enjoyed. It cost slightly over £40 for x2 alcoholic drinks and x2 dinners on a Sunday afternoon. Reading back it looks like I didn't I enjoy it, I did its a nice place and under new management, the only way is up. 🙌🏻

I only pop in for a coffee whilst on a bicycle ride so I can't comment on the food. It is a warm, friendly pub and I always go in when I ride in the area. I can well recommend it from what I've seen of it.

My wife and I were in the area visiting someone and were early, so visited here on the recommendation of the person we were visiting. As they had just opened, there was no issue getting a seat (although from speaking to the owners, if you want Sunday lunch, it's best to book in by midweek at the latest if you're after a particular time slot). It seems Friday night is quiz night and is usually a very lively evening too by all accounts. The owners got a nice roaring fire going which helped distract us from the awful weather outside. As I was driving I only had a soft drink but there seemed to be a good selection of beers at the bar, including Sharp's Doom Bar and also Wolf Rock which was a nice alternative. My wife had a pizza with a side of chips and I had the game pie (pictured). The pie was outstanding. Puff pastry (the best on a meat pie imho), lots of chunks of game (venison, pheasant and a.n.other that I can't remember). Gravy was delicious. Chips were nicely cooled and generously salted. Despite being satisfied by the main, we decided to have dessert too. My wife had the choc brownie and I had sticky toffee pudding (no pic, it looked too good to delay eating!). Again, both were absolutely scrumptious. So much so, the sight of the puddings, and the look on our faces as we ate them, pursuaded the table next to us to get dessert too 😀 All in, including 3 soft drinks, I think we paid about £45 which I didn't think was too bad at all. I'm not sure if we'll be back in the area again but be in no doubt, if we are, we'll call in here again!

This place is out of the way but definitely worth the drive! The food was so good, we especially loved the baked cambembert and the parmos. The atmosphere was lively on a Saturday with great music. Service was friendly, too. Recommend a reservation as it was a full house!
