Excellent food with really good service. Each course was really good. The Bloody Mary Prawn Cocktail was the best prawn cocktail I have ever had. The Sunday roasts (lamb and beef) were great and the desserts were to die for. Would highly recommend this place for food.
We came here for dinner this evening with our extended family and really enjoyed ourselves. The pub location is gorgeous, the restaurant and bar area are comfortable and clean. The chicken burger was great. We had an issue with the dessert but the staff went above and beyond to rectify the issue and were very apologetic. We would happily come back again. Thank you very much.

Excellent menu, almost too much choice - our table of 4 had fixed menu of 2 or 3 courses.Food reasonably priced, well presented ,VERY tasty and worth waiting for (though not too long). Will be back
We had a wonderful long weekend stay and the staff were so friendly and so attentive. The food was first class and fresh and we couldn't fault anything. The room was clean and well maintained and we had everything we needed. So thank you to everyone at The Stag On The River.
Lovely pub, we were in the outdoor marquee which had beautiful rustic decor with blankets, fluffy rugs! The Rugby was on which was a big tick for the rugby fan folk in our family
It was a little chilly in the marquee even with indoor heaters on. Needed a few a bit more central as we were on the middle table as a long table of 12. A little bit more pricey than expected but overall ok.
On our way back to Norwich from Portsmouth. Great place to have a meal instead of a service station. Obviously more money, but worth it. Nice and easy to get on/off the A3 and before the M25

Service is the weak point, or perhaps we had bad luck with a lady who seemed to be in a hurry when taking our order and she was really upset because she had to wait an extra 60 seconds with us so her world was falling apart and it was going to cause a major disruption in the rest of her life from that very moment...
Apart from that all good, normal prices for Surrey. They do not serve food in the garden so you need to book a table for the few they have outside. Regarding the food, all ok, nothing special and nothing bad, only the toasted bread that comes with some dishes or the burgers, was beyond toasted today...
Overall, a very good experience!
Really good location, service was great, food was tasty I had fish and chips the fish was big size but chip portion wasn't very big. Waiting time for to meal 30 minutes. The only thing was the siting area out on the table with parasols. The sits are NOT very good your to far away from the table. I saw so many people having to lean forward to try and eat.
Great pub by the river with a food menu that wouldn't let you down. Drink variety is also amazing, Gin menu, whisky menu good choices of fine brands. The atmosphere is cosy and very friendly staff who try to accomodate for your needs. On the table, we had 2 fish and chips, vegetable risotto, chicken burger, beef burger, ice creams, dark chocolate tart, 2 cheese cakes, drinks and all smiley faces. Test buds very satisfied. We will certainly come again
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left our service was faultless, the food incredible, the staff were so pleasant and couldn’t do enough for us, this was my first time going and I will definitely be back, we didn’t have long to wait for our food and the dining outside experience is simply lovely, covered, with like a marquee with lights and heaters, blankets if you get cold. If you go here you will not be disappointed
