Reviews The Lock Keepers

Decided to try this pub whilst on holiday nearby, booked the day before as read some good reviews. We chose main meals only Ham, egg and chips with salad Chicken burger with fries Lock keeper burger with fries. All were good and staff checked prior to taking our order if any of the party had allergens or intolerances. Pub was quiet but it is midweek and the start of the new school term after a glorious day- think people chose to eat early as a couple of items on the menu sold out.

Lovely Thursday lunch meal. Food was great, staff were friendly and polite. Very enjoyable, and definitely shall return. Revisited May 2023 on a Thursday. Limited menu. Smaller portions (fries particularly were shall). Expensive food (drinks are reasonable). Very slow service (45 mins from order to served). Real shame as the pub is lovely and the staff are polite. I'd imagine kitchen issues, either low on resources or stock.

Absolutely amazing hospitality, we hung around here for breakfast lunch and drinks for a few days while surfing the Severn bore, awesome spot and lovely staff, would definitely recommend 🤙

My partner and I had dinner here last night and it was well worth the visit. The young front of house team did very well, being polite and professional whilst remaining relaxed. The beer was good but I found the choice limited. The food was of exceptional quality and the portion sizes were generous, neither of us finished our meals infact. After dinner coffee was taken in the garden, and to be honest this is the only let down to this venue. The garden does not actually overlook the river. That said though this does not spoil the experience. Would I dine here again? Without hesitation, Yes!

A lovely tucked away spot that was ideal for a family meal before heading down the river to watch the bore. (The wave, I hasten to add, not me, for anyone who’s encountered a review of mine before!). Ham egg and chips, loaded fries, kids fish and chips and the best presented kids sausage and mash I’ve ever seen were all absolute treat. A couple of very reasonably priced ice creams for the kids afterwards and we all left very satisfied having enjoyed friendly, attentive service and the option of whatever atmosphere you wish for: a small area with low chairs and coffee tables next to the bar with the big telly, tucked around the side for a more restaurant experience, the best of both worlds with a couple of tables near the bar, or there’s always the decking outside overlooking the water. A delightful, nicely decorated spot well worth a visit.

Stumbled on this lovely place after looking for a pub to have lunch at on a Wednesday afternoon (most other places were closed). Friendly staff, great food & generous portions. Can highly recommend the hot sandwiches (great prices - chicken club ciabatta with chips & coleslaw for £8!) & fish & chips. Would highly recommend.

Wednesday evening dinner so atmosphere was quiet but expected. Staff were really friendly and attentive. We were welcomed to stay as long as we'd like to. Two options were off the menu, chicken and fish so my 3*s reflects a more limited menu for me personally and also I think flavours and portion sizes could be improved but I'd happily visit again. Thank you.

Have driven past often but had an opportunity to call in for lunch and was not disappointed! More diners eating on the terrace than in but we chose to eat inside. Good service, good food and value for money.

Stayed for 2 nights, pub/restaurant downstairs, lovely individual rooms upstairs. The food is excellent and the breakfasts are as good as I have had anywhere. 1 mile outside gloucester easy to leave car and get bus into centre.

Heading of Gloucester, turn right at the lights before the Dog at Over. The Lock Keepers is hidden in a small development next to the dock. Local Cotswold Brewery beers, varied menu, reasonable prices. Closed Monday & Tuesday. Well worth a visit.

Lovely atmosphere and great coffee. Can't comment on the food because I only had a waffle with ice cream which was delicious.

We stopped here for lunch on our way up north. The food was excellent. My husband had the pulled turkey burger with added bacon and I had the bacon, brie and cranberry hot sandwich on sourdough bread. Both came with chips and it was all cooked to perfection. Plus it all arrived within 20 minutes of ordering. The staff were lovely and friendly. We would definitely come back if ever in the area!
