Nice spacious pub in the centre of Gloucester. Its got an outside seating area. Doesn't have the atmosphere a lot of the other pubs have in Gloucester. Food menu is decent pub grub at good value prices. The interior decor is nice and modern looking.
This city centre pub oozes character from the first moment you see it, the building itself dates from the 16th century and parts of it look older. It's run by a young couple who are putting tremendous energy into the place, and it's rapidly becoming established as one of Gloucester's premier music venues, with music of various genres on offer several times a week, generally with free admission. The food menu isn't large, but the quality is fantastic with something on offer for every diet, and smaller bar snacks can be found too. The prices are good and the atmosphere is fantastic!
This was my first visit and i was very impressed. The outside area was nice and spaced out. All of the staff were friendly and polite with table service.
The live music is an amazing part of this venue, such a great atmosphere.
I cannot wait to revisit when we are allowed inside.
First time at the pub came to Support Mother Vulture was a very good pub. Best of all sold Trooper great night all round. Smallish and cosy venue where you will have a good
Friendly and attentive staff. Good choice of drinks. Function room downstairs used for bands and rock nights. Photo of the toilet doors.
Excellent local pub with well stocked bar and brilliant selection of real ales with many sources locally Great bar food with meals to suit most tastes except vegan. Lovely staff. Black cat is nostalgic and often hosts live bands of high standard. Downstairs room available to hire. Sports bar. Great live bands at weekends.
Really friendly staff. Lovely home made cider, a bit scrumpyish. Good live music. The disabled access could be better. Manual metal ramp to get in but no disabled toilets. Have to go down a lot of stairs. If they had better disabled access I'd give an extra star. 🌟. As it's a very old building and probably extremely hard too I didn't knock the star rating lower
Feels like it's back to how it used to be! Great selection of drinks, jukebox and pool table inside and some quality seating outside, atmosphere was good. Glad to see my favourite pub is back and doing well!
Great beer, fantastic food the best steak on a lava stone I've ever tasted. They are the best knowledgeable and humorous staff that really care for their visitors. Playing pool was good, playing old style shovehalfpeny was so much fun
Good beer and great pub. It's a nice old building with a big drinks selection and decent staff. The court yard outside the back is wedged between the pub and the historic church next door with just a glimpse through an iron gate to the street. Food was great and I enjoy coming here when I visit Gloucester.
First impressions on a bank holiday mid afternoon (pre rugby at Kingsholm) were not great; overworked barman trying to serve at bar, deliver hand written food order to kitchen and be polite to the local pub weirdo (propping up the bar trying to engage with anyone in earshot).
However, the beer was in excellent condition, three real ales and one proper cider were available. All four of us ordered the 'all day breakfast' and we had a side of chips as well to keep us going in The Shed. The breakfasts were excellent, quality ingredients and a good size, the chips were also good, appeared to be hand made out of fresh spuds.
Great venue.. my favourite are the huge selection of rum. And the black cat bar underneath is amazing.. well worth a visit
Great cider, reasonable prices, friendly staff and good music. Could do with a better selection of spirits and toilet facilities are a tad poor but otherwise a nice pub!
