Ordered the vegan roast, was delivered the veggie roast.
Despite having a vegan specials night once a week the regular menu is a bit scarce for vegan options with no readily available allergy information.
Ordered the vegan roast, they brought out a veggie one, I realised because it had cauliflower cheese on the plate.
Asked for it to be changed and it was, very quickly, but these sorts of mistakes should be avoided.
Took my dad and wife here for the first time today and loved it! Have been meaning to try it since we moved to Churchdown but only managed it today - we’ve been missing out! Attentive staff, great pub food, great atmosphere and even with plenty of customers service was timely! Highly recommend to anyone who wants a classic British pub! Even better that they seem to be independent, massive bonus! Plenty of food choices too for all, vegan, vegetarian and gluten feee friendly 🙂
I stumbled across this place by accident, but it's by far one of my favourite pubs to visit in the county. The staff are fab and the food is amazing. If your looking to go here with family, friends or partner then you won't be disappointed.
An unpretentious pub with comfortable ensuite rooms. Very clean. Good breakfasts. Hospitable landlord/owner.
Had the pleasure of stopping at the Elm for 4 nights, comfortable bed, great shower and spotlessly clean. Our host was lovely and cooked a very tasty breakfast. We hope we can visit again.
Had a work gathering here mid week. Very much enjoyed the meal. Nice place mixing traditional pub with gastro pub. Good place for lunch if you are in the area.
Brilliant. Went to the Dog at over on the Saturday. Very disappointed. Went her on the Sunday. LUSH. Thank you so much. Great value, great service, great food.
First visit here with family as we've been told the menu had a good selection of veggie meals and indeed it does. A great venue with friendly and chatty staff and a place where the owners have clearly made an effort to keep the customers entertained and spoiled for choice.
Well presented and comfortable venue which has two distinct areas: the calm quiet area for the people looking for a relaxed meal or pint and a chat and the louder area for the groups and customers looking for a more lively atmosphere. The latter is where our group were positioned. The area had a smaller screen showing the football plus there was a second, larger screen further round the bar, better for the sports fans there to see the game. There seemed to be events or special activities planned every night of the week (picture included). There was a play area for kids and little table top toys for very little ones to keep them entertained for 5 minutes. There was a corner piled up with board games too but it was a pity the previous clientele had lost pieces or vandalized the contents with rude drawings ☹.
Great selection of ales on offer which was a real plus for me. In addition, CAMRA members get 10% off their beers. Menu was good with a nice choice of meals including kids choices. The food was lovely and good value so felt very satisfied.
I think next time we may sit in the quieter area with the kids at that time of day (6pm Saturday), as some of the language of the lads present wasn't very nice unfortunately.
But other than that we had a lovely meal and a couple of drinks.
Quiz nights, live music nights, etc. The locals always have something to go to which is great. Will likely be visiting again when in the area again.
We came to the Old Elm for Quiz night (Thursday) and the menu is so vast is was hard to choose just 1 thing to order. They did have a special of Chicken Tikka Massala, Rice and Naan for £8 which I thought was an absolute bargain! It was also really tasty!
I absolutely loved the chips, so would highly recommend!!
The Quiz night was good fun as well, even if we didnt win!
The pub is dog friendly and its actually quite spacious. If the weather was good it would be lovely to sit in either of the gardens as well.
What a great pub. The food is locally sourced, they do themed nights like burger nights or curry and quiz. They serve drinks table service.
They do a quiz on a Thursday evening which is tough but fun and it really is one to try
Sunday lunch is very popular with a range of meat options and vegetarian too.
The ambience of the pub is really very nice, there is parking outside and the cleanliness of the pub is servings to non.
Amazing staff during the bank holiday, first time i’ve been here and it was a lovely experience! I will be coming here more often, they even have a park out the back for the little ones to play.
Good menu choice, and they do specials nights. Portions were generous and well presented. A very large venue.
Wow. We was traveling back to Wigan from Cornwall and needed a stop. This place was great. Free parking, beautiful food and relaxing.
Wonderful atmosphere and very nice food 👌
Great staff, fantastic food. Had a mixed roast but for the price the food was out of this world. More than happy to alter the table to outside as a lovely day and my mother tried the jacket potato with spaghetti bolognese which she really enjoyed. No room for puddings unfortunately. But a wonderful experience and will difinatly go again to try there legendary 18 oz t bone steak.
All round brilliant place with the best chips EVER!!!
Like proper home style your granny makes chips!
We have been here twice recently and each time, our meals were very good, service was quick, friendly helpful staff. Will return!
This is a great spot. Great food and service. Nice ambiance.
Fantastic bar/lounge and restaurant. Food is fresh, there is a huge variety, large portions and amazing quality. The staff are fab; friendly, helpful and attentive. Lovely atmosphere and very well presented. One of my favourite pubs in Gloucestershire!
