Wow! We were a group of 7 (3 kids inc) and we were all blown away by the quality and efficiency of how well the Afternoon Tea was. We had a slight hiccup but the staff were great at resolving it and it didn't hugely affect our experience or afternoon. We took a gamble going here and boy were we glad we did, my auntie and mum were particularly impressed and very happy to plan their next trip back already!! I called up to make the booking only the day before, made a few requests on types of sandwiches and scones, and it was just as Catherine had explained on the call, her suggestions were super helpful and appreciated too especially when ordering for kids. The cafe itself was nice and modern and cozy too, as we were quite a big group with kids we were a bit loud now and then (as you'd expect) and we did notice some of the other patrons were not too impressed with this so we tried to keep it down as much as we could. Clean toilets which I think were shared with the cathedral visitors too but enough and pleasant enough. I definitely recommend this and would definitely like to come back for the right occasion. Thank you again to all the team there today you made it a special time for us all xx

Stumbled into this place by accident while in the cathedral and im so glad that we did!! We were hungry and gonna be looking for some breakfast anyways lol. The staff here were all so welcoming and understanding. It was one of our first days here so we were still getting used to the accents and what things were on the menu.

Perfect for a traditional treat. When I want a quick drink and cake I bypass all the national chains and head here. Drinks, both hot and cold, are the standard fare though the pot of tea is always my choice as it makes two good cups. They're not stingy with the milk either. However, the cake selection is varied and always a little different from other places. I usually find something I've not had before. For one small family celebration, we ordered in advance: cream tea and sandwiches for five people. Generous portions, presented beautifully. We just about managed it all. Prices are about right for a city centre café but nothing can match the interior decor and the general vibe of the place. The old pew seating might look comfortable but always numbs my nether regions after a while. YMMV. Call ahead, if you can, as it can get crowded, especially in Summer.

Love the name of the cafe. Ordered a meat ploughmans and cheese ploughmans for lunch . The service was extremely good and quick, also very reasonably priced. If you are in Gloucester cathedral then you should try the cafe

Bought some cake to takeaway and eat in the "Secret Garden" in the cathedral grounds. Staff were very smiley and friendly and the cake was good too. Jugs of water/cups are available to help yourself to. Unfortunately not open on Sundays anymore.

After our tour of the cathedral we had a sandwich; well what a sandwich it was!!! I had egg mayo and my husband had brie and cranberry. It came out obviously made to order (no dry crusts here) and stacked full along with a lovely salad and a generous portion of crisps. We'll be back!!

It was a full house, where visited for our brunch. Sandwiches, tea and hot chocolate were delicious. Staff was smart, and very professional in serving the orders. Small, but interesting place to visit, eat and relish the meals. Thank you.

At last I made a trip to the Cathedral again when the cafe was open and was made very welcome and suggested where to sit hada snack lunch and it was excellent as was the pot of tea.Yes it's a lovely welcoming cafe Steps areca bit steep on the way in through the Cathedral so would recommend the door from the grounds of the cathedral is much more accessible .

Fantastic atmosphere when I visited. I asked about the times for the jacket potato and got an answer. Today I got a pot of tea (with a wedge of lemon, please do ask) and a slice of vegan cake

The Monks Kitchen is a brilliant place to grab a light meal or snacks. The staff a very friendly and efficient. You can have a coffee or tea without having to visit the Cathedral, although it is impossible not to as it is so wonderful.
