Always love a walk along the canal, especially on a bright sunny afternoon, and to pop into The Stables for a hot coffee or tea accompanied by a piece of cake. The banana 🍌 crumble cake is especially good. Always very clean and the staff are very pleasant. It's also very popular and busy, so pick your times carefully. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you visit. We've always enjoyed our visits. It's also dog friendly with bowls and the almost obligatory dog friendly ice cream. Our pooch certainly enjoyed hers and at £2.10 (Feb 2022) it's not going to break the bank either. Returned at the beginning of December 2022 on a chilly and wet afternoon, with our pooch. It was nice & warm when we walked in. The tables on the ground floor were taken so we made our way upstairs with our pooch energetically leading the way. My wife ordered our drinks, some fries and a sandwich then joined us at the comfy seating by the patios and the outside decking. Our food arrived promptly, only to be told dogs weren't allowed inside. This was really disappointing, our dog had clearly been seen when we arrived, so to be told when our food arrived that dogs were allowed outside only was very disappointing. It was cold and rain intermittent, so reluctantly we sat outside. Dogs are welcome outside apparently but not inside which is really disappointing. Having travelled around Spain, France and Italy for nearly 3 months earlier this year with our pooch, not one restaurant, bar or pizzeria saying that she wasn't welcome, inside or out, it was really disappointing & quite surprising.

Lovely lunch in the garden under the shade of a huge umbrella. Jacket potatoes were large, hot and well-filled. The filling (sweet chilli chicken and cheese) was delicious and came with a salad garnish that was fresh and cold. San Pellegrino orange and lemon available which was very refreshing. We were going to have a piece of cake as well but had no room, so settled for an ice cream walking down the canal. I can't wait to come back. Also, they have dog-friendly ice cream on sale in the freezer next to the cash desk 😁😁

Lovely place next to the canal that serves great breakfasts and cakes, there's a garden and patio, dogs are welcome outside. Be prepared to wait for hot food, 30 minutes even when quiet, in busy periods after 11:00 allow 20 minutes to queue to be served and another 45 for food but it's a lovely to sit outside and watch the world go by.

Friendly staff, good range of quality food & lovely setting. Rather annoying you have to pay to park given it’s in the middle of nowhere.

Seeing some other posts complaining, for £7:95 for a cooked breakfast and a mug of tea, I can see no reason to moan. Hash brown was maybe a little over done, but THAT IS IT. Great location and I can see in the summer will be very popular especially with the roof top balcony overlooking the canal.
