First of all, I have to say that I love cheese. I work in Switzerland, so... Make the maths people. I enter the shop, and I fall down the rabbit hole of cheese dreams. They have a stack of cheeses on the table only from Scotland/England, and local farmers was a wet dream in the making. There is not a bad thing to say for this beautiful shop. The girls were nice and polite. Local product and wine bottle. Possibility to do a small "apero" in the back room. Max 4-6 people.

Popped back in on Saturday afternoon with my friend. Excellent service and advice...the fennel salami delicious and we ended up with 3 suggested cheeses & nice bottle of red to accompany all recommended by the friendly and knowledgeable staff. Wonderful little gem of a shop..with lovely staff 😊

Nice selection if cheese's plus more. Staff very helpful, and the cheese we purchased was very good. Seemed to have a good selection of wines etc, but I didn't really look. Well worth a visit.

I loved this shop. The staff were friendly. This shop specializes in cheese-related products. Interestingly, I occasionally bought Scotch eggs here and really enjoyed them.

It's a delightful shopping experience for me, from the moment I enter I. J. Mellis, either in Edinburgh or Glasgow, I feel I am in safe hands as I peruse the wonderful selection of cheeses from all over the UK and Europe. The staff are so helpful as I delve into this heavenly self-indulgence, I am never disappointed with my purchases, I exit from the shop a very happy chappy.

EDIT: A true test of customer service is the response you receive when things go wrong, and I have experienced great customer service. Kari took the time to respond to my review, so I made contact via email. Kari apologised for the mix up and I was offered a gift voucher to purchase cheese for NYE. A poor experience turned into a good experience during a hectic time. ------------ Sure they sell amazing cheese but not impressed with the way they go about it. I placed an order for cheese for Christmas Day and New Year's Eve. It was meant to be delivered on 20th December which would mean the cheese should have a shelf life beyond a couple of weeks. The delivery was dumped on my doorstep on 16th December. I had ordered five cheeses, two of which are hard cheeses which expire on 28th December (meaning they are probably very old stock and they decided to deliver early to get rid of them) and only one of the remaining cheeses will last until 1st January. I emailed them and asked why my cheese was delivered four days early (£8 delivery fee, btw) and have had absolutely no response. Really disappointed as I won't be able to use the cheese for its intended purpose and have to buy more cheese for the events.

Be careful. It's too easy to want to spend your full wage here on amazing cheese selections. A gem in the west end with knowledgeable staff who will give you a recommendation if unsure.

I popped into this shop looking for something special to take back to London for my husband and the service was brilliant. Not only was the shopkeeper extremely knowledgeable about all the products in store but was able to recommend some lovely blue cheese that both my husband and I could enjoy. Bonus points, it was so local it was only sourced from 100miles up the road. Thank you for the recommendations, we had a lovely cheese evening.

A cheesemonger. They sell cheese. I wanted cheese. They sold me cheese. Now I am rather poor, but I have cheese. Cheers.

Wide cheese selection and very helpful kind staff willing to help. Always accept a taster slice! I came here to get a cheeseboard together for friends at Christmas, and picked out a variety of vegetarian cheeses. I didn't know what I was doing at all, but the staff helped me in a very busy shop and didn't rush me at all. I came away with a blue, smoked, cheddar, soft, and goats cheese. For each of these there were multiple options. The shop also had a variety of meats, crackers and some pickles and jams.
