Never been there before today, in fact I'd never heard of it. The first thing to mention is that although you can see it from the road outside, that's not where the entrance is. You access the cafe car park from the side road. Once inside its very impressive, modern interior with quite stunning views of the North of the city. Service was very good, attentive and unobtrusive. Food is well presented and tasted great. It may have been my first visit but certainly not my last.

If you can find it, this place really stands out. In the centre of town, it could be lost amongst the throng of lunchtime cafes, but just a short distance outside the M8 ring, the location of Up on the Hill is quite special. Somewhat off the beaten track, it's worth the effort to get up to, as it delivers an even better view than you might have expected. As you walk in, it's easy to forget to order and hard not to stare, simply hoping there's a free window seat. I know that writing this may make that less likely, but it deserves to be open beyond 15:30, into the evenings and weekends, so bring on the bus tours. The food and service is actually very nice, but (again) it's vantage point, overlooking the canal and towards Glasgow's West End, mean that, unusually, you may not look at your phone for the whole time you're there. In fact, I forgot to take any photos, which is just as well. They wouldn't have done it justice, so you'll have to go and see for yourself.

Have passed nearby on the bus many a time and always wondered what it looked like. Had occassion to be at building nearby and popped in for a lunchtime snack. First of all its not what I expected, it's pretty large but brown ceiling makes it darker. The views from the balcony over parts of Glasgow are smashing. I had a good choice of rolls for my turkey wholemeal roll (No spread) +plain just how I wanted it , the tea came with bag + cup of hot water to make it to my taste I suppose but the milk jug was on a saucer on top of the cup? Tea / roll came to £4.50p for sit in,reasonable.. they are a venue for hire and do food as take out also.
