Great Cock-a-Leekie!. Stopped in from California on a cold, wet, sleet-filled day with a Glaswegian transplanted to California for a cuppa, Cheddar-Pickle sandwich, shortbread, and a bowl of cock-a-leekie soup. The soup was indescribably delicious, heart warming on such a day. Will pop round next time in Glasgow. Recommend soup highly!
Been here a couple of times recently and both times the service, food and the value have all been first class!
Home from home. I dine here at least once a week. The food is consistently excellent, the service is warm and friendly and the interior is like taking a lovely journey back in time. Mince and Tatties like your mum used to make, and a fantastic collection of cakes. Can sometimes be a bit chilly, but the warm welcome cancels that out.
Breakfast yes, Evening no. Moyra Janes - best Eggs Benedict in the South side.... fact!

MJ's is the perfect low key scottish tea room, the breakfast and cakes are winners every time and recommended if you want somewhere to take your time while reading your Sunday newspaper of choice.
I've tried the evening menu once and would never go back, the food was not great certainly not on par with the other cafes on Nithsdale road and the venue does not lend itself to that environment, the marble tables and stiff upright chairs shout tea-room not cool comfy bistro.
Stick to the breky and cakes and you will be well rewarded.
I’ve eaten here in the morning often and always enjoyed the experience, service and food. I tried going on Saturday evening and it was such a nice experience
. The food menus is simple but well prepared and thoroughly enjoyable. The cherry on the cake was the service which can make or break an evening and in this case, it was excellent. Rowan was friendly, attentive and very helpful.
I would give it 10 stars if I could! Though I understand that I just was lucky to catch this vibe of cozy, homie cafe, where everybody knows each other, chat, laugh, even staff and clients talk like friends. The food is great, prices are affordable. Now it will be one of my most favorite places in Glasgow.
P.S.(for owners): To make the place even better, current tables and chairs could be replaced by more antique-like, though it's only my humble opinion.
Extremely pleasant staff, very friendly and warm.
Spotlessly clean eatery.
Tidy and fresh loos.
Tasty coffee.
Phenomenal freshly prepared fruit scones with too much cream and jam.
My diabetic nurse consultant hates you good folks!
Went in for lunch and had the special. Delicious and presentation was lovely. Great place for coffees, cuppas, a glass of wine and a bite to eat or lunch. Go there often 😊
Quick service with lovely food. Highly recommend this place, first time I have been in a few years. Did not dissapoint. Decor is lovely also.
Great local cafe where you can always find some classic rolls and cakes for a good price! Staff are always super lovely and it has a great local atmosphere!
Can highly recommend the lentil soup and lovely sandwiches. Service is very good. Staff are polite and friendly.
Wonderful wee cafe with outdoor seating in the sun, a huge array of cakes, rapid table service, and brilliant customer service. Great breakfast/brunch on offer and very happy to alter existing dishes. Thanks to Jen for making our visit extra great.
Very homey atmosphere, staff exceptional friendly and attentive, good selection of food and desserts. Very hard to fault the place. Parking can be a drag.
What can I say???
Simply the best food I've had AGES & AGES.
Splendid sociable service.
I'm so glad the sun was shining as we could sit outside
Brilliant place. Scandalous irn bru prices but a minor, forgiveable foible of an otherwise classic cafe.
Delicious food, great atmosphere, and fantastic staff. Charming and outdoor as well as indoor seating.
This is a long standing local cafe which hasn't changed much over the years, which is definitely in its favour!
It's one of the few places you can actually get a 'regular' cooked breakfast as well as some more imaginative brunch options.
In this occasion I had the cooked breakfast, with all your usual fare of bacon, sausages, potato scone, scrambled eggs etc.
They do a really good job of this and not greasy at all, all ingredients taste very fresh and good quality.
My partner had the kippers with poached eggs (again not something you see a lot these days), the fish was full of lovely smoky flavour as it should be.
The coffee is also of really high standard, they do all this without a sniff of pretentiousness. They also have a wide selection of bakes and everything is very reasonably priced. Very cosy and welcoming traditional cafe.
(I forgot to take pics but it was all very well presented).
It was quiet in the evening but the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I will be back to sample their menu.
Lentil soup and half sandwich very tasty. Service quick and good.
Lovely staff, beautiful food, amazing atmosphere calm and welcoming, will be back!
Was here today and had the most amazing Lemon Meringue Pie. It was like eating fluffy clouds My hubby had coffee and walnut cake which he said was fantastic. The same lovely girl served is as in previous visits and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you .
