Best Malaysian food in town! Laidback and unpretentious. Food always spot on! Staff very polite though don’t expect fine dining service but they’re always efficient.
Being away from Malaysia for so long, I was going through a bad 'I have to eat nasi lemak right away or I'll die' mode. After searching online for Malaysian food in Glasgow, I came upon this place and made an immediate trip there. It's a small place in the city centre. Simple interiors and an elaborate menu. Asked for the much missed nasi lemak. When it arrived though I knew I wouldn't love it. Mostly because it is not authentic Malaysian style nasi lemak. The chicken was in a curry form rather than a sambal form. It looked beautiful on the plate, I must give them that. It was all right to sate the bad craving but being a nasi lemak lover from northern Malaysia, I won't get away with this. The anchovies was not the crunchy but the chewy type too but I think that's ok. Overall taste was decent. Had a teh tarik too. It was a little too watery for me but after spending an hour here I did ask for another glass. Service is good. 12 £ for the nasi lemak is pretty steep but I think that happens when you want your country's cuisine in another country. I would go try something else here from their elaborate menu when I miss Malaysian food again.
Ahhhh what a gem! I love Malaysian food. I happened to find Rumours Kopitiam on Zomato on the way into Glasgow this morning. Thanks Zomato! The food was delish, my favourite was Garlic and Chilli Aubergines from the lunch menu followed by Nasi Goreng, Malaysian Fried Rice. I'm not a big eater so Nasi Goreng was a bit overloaded for me. Overall, Rumours Kopitiam is definitely a great place to have lunch as the portion they give will keep you full the whole day. And the price is reasonable as well. Enjoy!
Terrific chicken satay, mee goreng, fried kway teow and Malaysian teh tarik. Made an expatriate ex-Malaysian from Perth (Australia) feel food home-sick. Definitely a recommend. And if you're not familiar with the food trust the waitstaff, their recommendations are spot on.
Good food every time we visit. The salt and chilli squid is very nice.
Tasty and cheap. This place is great. Has a cafe feel to it, but the staff never rush you and are very helpful if your stuck on what to choose. The food is fantastic and fresh.
And its so cheap to eat here! The price for dinner for two is about what you would pay for one meal in a large chain restaurant!
Love it!
Best Noodles in Glasgow. Love this place.
Young son of only 24 months and he can't get enough of the roti canai....delicious.
Staff are really friendy too.
Delicious, authentic SE Asian food at great prices and friendly service. Top notch!
The setting is basic but the food is so delicious - dishes from Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. The service is good and the prices very reasonable. The flavours must be authentic judging by the ethnic mix of the regular customers!
It is a lovely place to eat south east asian food. So far i really satisfied with the foods and also the promo during the lunch time.i really recommend it!
Just had a great meal here at this malaysian restaurant before l head to the cinema which is like a five min walk.
The food was delicious and the drinks were just as good. Dont go for the usual soft drinks like fanta but instead try their specialities like mango sago or red bean.
Service was great, the waitress is more than happy to explain any dishes or recommend any if you cant decide.
Its a nice small restaurant to get good a nice meal and relax, recommend to get a table away from the main door as it does get very cold regardless of how many people walk in and out of the restaurant.
First time I had Malaysian food ever.. Thought I have no option in veggie surprised to see there are plenty.. Tofu with Garlic & chilli oil was great , coconut rice was great and u take a bath in Soup trust me it's so so filling ... Waiter did take some time to tell us what would be best for us , we have to cancel an order as I must order two plates ( why should I do that ) .. It took so long to serve my apatite got bigger and better.. Over all good meal with ver little bitter experience... HAVE PATIENCE to have food here ...
Quick and good tasting Malaysian dishes in central of Glasgow. Friendly staff and cafe style setting. Portions are generally large and can be shared. Food are tasting pretty close and authentic to Malaysia street food. Conveniently located in the center of town. On street parking can be a little challenging during peak hours or normal business days.
Lunch Menu (12.00pm-2.00 pm..last order 13.50 pm) now is increased to 9.5£ , I order Chicken Tom Yum soup as an appetizer, Hainan Chicken rice for the main (boiled chicken and oily rice served with the sour-chilli sauce) good combination with the soup and.. Hot jasmine tea. ... nice location with the view of the corner street.. near Strath Uni about 10 mins walk distance. Friendly staff, good price.
Very generous portion. Food was good. This place feels like a cafeteria. The big windows here makes this place feels spacious and nice to sit by it while having your meal and watch the traffic and pedestrians passing by. Service was ok too.
Visited Rumours more than a couple of times during our stay in Glasgow. The food is excellent! We couldn't get enough of Nasi Lemak and Mango Sago. It's a very welcoming place and so is the staff. Does give a nice view of the road. Lovely place and amazing food!
My go to Malaysian eating house when I'm in Glasgow.
The lamb belly curry is so nice as is the beef belly stew.
Great food & drinks, excellent service & ambience, staff is very attentive despite being super busy all the time... been visiting this place for around 9years now and never being disappointed.... highly recommended ...!!!
Hainanese chicken rice was good. The laksa was ok~ Ipoh white coffee was good. Big portion. Friendly staff. Good location. :D
The food here is tremendous. Anything you order is fresh, spicy and generally good for you. Portion sizes are generous, service is quick and efficient and the atmosphere is great. I love to sit at the window to people watch as it sits on a busy junction. Cannot rate the food enough!
Always a favourite for eating out veggie style. Great Malaysian food, and still the only place I know in Glasgow to offer "mock" meat choices for veggies/vegans - the King Po mock prawns are fantastic. Relaxed atmosphere.
Amazing small restaurant at the heart of Glasgow.
The dishes were amazing and the product used were fresh and tasty.
The staff was very friendly and polite and the prices are reasonable.
I will visit again on my next visit to Glasgow.
Highly recommend!!!
My wife stumbled upon this one while she was waiting on me getting to Glasgow to meet her one day and I'm glad she did.
The first few times we went in it was just for coffee. It was great to find somewhere i could get Thai Coffee that was close to what we got in Bangkok.
Eventually we decided to go in for lunch and found that the food was pretty authentic Thai/Malaysian. The selection of dishes is huge and the prices are very reasonable.
We now visit almost every time we are in Glasgow
Delicious Malay-Chinese Singaporean dishes, generous portion. Great value of money. Totally recommended. Closes at 10pm (last order 9.30pm)
Every dish is tasty. Try their char kway teow, fried rice, tom yum soup.
Came here specifically to eat Hainanese Chicken Rice which did not disappoint. Tasted authentic. We also had roti canai as a starter which were really nice but a tad on the small side. Staff were friendly and the food came out pretty quickly. Would come here again.
The restaurant is located right at the city centre and the food and drinks are very much Asian style. The starter pancakes and Singapore noodles always tastes delicious. Some of the typical Asian sweet tea drinks can be found here too. It’s walking distance from the rail stations, cineworld and Buchanan Galleries. There are some stairs at the front door but not too difficult to go up if you are dining with a child in a pram/stroller...
Great dishes. A massive range of Thai and Chinese food. Albeit slightly on the costly side for the size of the fish, but tasty nonetheless. And of course a great range of beverages including teas, Tiger or Tsingtao beer
Delicious Malaysian food. Relaxing ambiance. Price is really reasonable. We tried the Nasi Lemak and Nasi Goreng Kampung, yum yum yum. Will definitely go again whenever nearby. Best Malaysian food that I’ve eaten outside Malaysia.
Amazing food selection with delicious flavour and generous portions for a very good price. A diverse choice of exotic speciality tea and coffee which I definitely recommend at the end of your meal. 👍
