We went here for a late lunch/early dinner. Was relatively quiet but still nice. We both had scallops to start which were done in a lovely sauce. My husband then had halibut with a wild mushroom fricassee which he thoroughly enjoyed. I had the whole fish of the day which was sea bream. It was a lovely tasty fish but as I have trouble swallowing it was a little dry....it would have been nice to be offered the choice of a sauce perhaps. A lovely meal though with good service...

If you like seafood, come here! I was disappointed that they had run out of oysters, however.
Great menu, good service, excellent wine menu. It was for a special occasion and I was very happy with the result.

My sardines with scotch bonnet yoghurt and day old bread sounded intriguing.  The fish were certainly really fresh and flavoursome and cooked to perfection, but I’m not sure the croutons added much to the dish whatsoever, and despite the fruity warmth of the chilli in the yoghurt – ‘trendily’ served as if someone had dropped a pot of paint on the plate -  a dairy-based accompaniment to such oily flesh just didn’t seem to cut it, as the sardines begged for a more acidic dressing.

A St Andrews night celebration meal of four courses with three drinks for £30 - an excellent deal. Starting with Clam and Barley soup - perfect for this weather. Next up pan fried Mackeral with pickled neeps, mace Bon bons and skirlie biscuits - meaty fish and crisp skin. Juicy pheasant and kale clapshot up next and then Quince crumble with clootie dumpling ice cream.

Assisted by some Hendricks Gin, Monkey Shoulder and a dram of 12 yr old Balvenie - delcious

Homely food with a twist, points off for not having as much flavour as expected in the dishes.

Service 👍

Nice place. Been here a couple of times before. Small and cosy with a good choice of Gins I'm told. Personally I'm a beer drinker so I'm happy with my pint of west beer. ????
Not tried the food so can't comment. Stopped in here before my show at The Hydro.

For those of you who don’t know Glasgow well, Finnieston is located at the bottom of the west end & runs along Argyle Street until you meet the city centre. I can remember reading a newspaper seven or eight years ago about which areas in Glasgow are up & coming to spend your money on property and they had said Dennistoun & Finnieston. Two accurate predictions really as both areas have improved since then. Finnieston has become an extension to the west end with lots of nice bars & restaurants but with less tourists.
I first started going there after hearing about Fanny Trollopes but the list of restaurants is now extensive with Crabshakk, Mother India’s Cafe and The Butchershop leading the way. New places are popping up all the time – Kelvingrove Cafe & Old Salty’s are currently on my to visit list. There are also some nice cafés like Cushion & Cake and The Hidden Lane Tearoom if you are visiting Kelvingrove Art Gallery and want a cuppa.

In Finnieston there is a bar & restaurant called The Finnieston, which is located on Argyle Street. I heard good things about it so it’s been on my list for a while. It is owned by the same people that own Lebowskis & I think they own LUAC (Little Urban Achievers Club) too. In January I finally got round to booking a table to check the place out.

First impressions were positive – nice exterior, friendly looking staff & a serious drinks list. I sat at the bar and ordered a glass of Prosecco that caught my eye because I was early. The front of the place seems to be a bar with the restaurant in the back but I think they’ll use some of the seating at the front for diner overspill. It’s a nice environment to sit in & I’ll definitely keep the bar in mind in the future.

Now to the menu. It’s a fish restaurant so most of it was fish based but with enough other options to satisfy the non-fish eaters. This is not me however, so I chose mussels followed by fish of the day.
My blue shell Shetland mussels in mulled cider broth arrived in a big pot but I managed to clear this soon enough. The mussels tasted lovely and the bread was clearly homemade. When I was eating them I kept thinking that the broth had a strange flavour to it and it wasn’t until I reached the bottom that I saw orange slices. I liked the cider flavour with the mussels but I did not like the orange at all so I left all of the broth – not a combination that worked for me.

The chargrilled halloumi, chilli & mint infused courgette and aubergine with pomegranate molasses was a much better dish. It was presented well and the chargrill gave a pleasant caramel-ly flavour to the salty halloumi and veg.

Our mains of steak and fish of the day arrived quickly after the starters. The steak had been ordered to come rare but it arrived cooked medium. As we were aware that we had limited time to dine my friend ate it not wanting to cause a fuss (we booked last minute and were told that we had to give the table back in an hour and a quarter). Thinking back now we really should have asked for another one as it was clearly overcooked and we never gave them a chance to redeem themselves on the steak front.

My fish of the day came with two sides and a finish so I chose mixed greens, fries and sauce vierge to go with my red mullet. You can also choose how you want it cooked so I asked for it to be pan fried. The fish itself was fresh but slightly overcooked and the fries were crispy. I would have preferred a plate instead of a bowl and a bucket of fries but restaurants seem to do this often so maybe it is just me that enjoys my meal better on a plate!

We swiftly ordered a christmas pudding creme brulee and a date sponge along with some coffees. The creme brulee got the thumbs up – some Christmas nostalgia in January is always good.

The date sponge itself was a little dry but the accompanying toffee sauce and vanilla ice-cream were lovely.

We vacated our table and finished our drinks at the bar before heading off into the cold. The next day we did a quick debrief and both said that we couldn’t decide what to make of the place. The staff, decor, menu and drinks were all positives but there were a few food letdowns. I am reasonably sure that I won’t be the only diner that doesn’t enjoy mussels with oranges and I think the execution of some dishes need improvement. The lunch menu sounds good value for money so I might try that next time and see how I get on before going back and paying a la carte prices again.

I really liked this place. It's nice, cosy and well decorated on the inside. The food was very well presented and most importantly was delicious. I tried the gnocchi and I have to say it was something else, would highly recommend. Shrimp Mac n cheese was average. The staff were delightful and made the whole experience better. Great stuff. Given the prices though I would expect nothing less - it's all rather expensive.

I got to celebrate my birthday at The Finnieston and had an absolutely incredible dining experience. First I should emphasise that you need to get a reservation. Even if you think it's going to be a slow day or want to try your luck, eat your pride and reserve the table. We watched lots of people get very sadly turned away. Also, this place is dog friendly so bring your well behaved companion for other customers to baby talk to. The service here was so good. I was torn between different dishes and the server very kindly suggested an off the menu seafood platter. It had everything I was wanting to try from the entrees, but on a platter. The portion was incredibly generous for myself and my partner and the accompanying chips were fried perfectly. We also got a spiced Panna Cotta which was great and I thoroughly enjoyed the cocktail selection. We'll definitely be back and The Finnieston has a permanent spot on my list of recommendations for visitors.

It's perfectly good across the board. A little formulaic and cold. The bartender Leah is an uncatchable firefly who also gives great advice on other restaurants in the area.

Amazing oysters and fish & chips. I came on a Sunday evening, and the service was prompt. Our waitress was attentive, kind and made us feel welcome. Would go again.

The food was quite tasty but the portions were small, in my opinion. So, I think it is slightly overpriced for what you get (I might just be biased though as I haven't been to many seafood restaurants in the UK). The table was sticky, which gave the impression it hadn't been cleaned properly. The atmosphere of the place was quite nice though, and the staff was friendly.

Lovely seafood gastropub with the most amazing staff. I had the best time. Their daily specials are generous and cheap for the amazing quality. Everything was delicious and the gin selection is on point

I only had a few drinks in the bar but the staff were very friendly, consistently pouring me a wonderful pint of Guinness. The deputy manager was highly attentive. The interior is absolutely stunning. The place is very clean. Overall I rather enjoyed myself in there and left feeling rather drunk. It seems they did their job.

A blustery rainy day on Argyll street is the restaurant The Finneston. The setting was perfect, seated near a cracking fireplace. A great plate of Haddock and chips complemented with a glass of one of their beautiful white wines. Customer service was excellent. Place to be.

My god the food here was amazing. My dad and I got the shellfish platter for 2. We came here after having some disappointing sushi earlier. I think we would have polished off that platter if we didn't go to the sushi place.

Came here one evening to have a couple of drinks, it is very welcoming and the staff are lovely, you are given a glass of water when you sit down with a drinks menu with every drink you can possibly think of, the music is great and it has a lovely atmosphere. We didn't have the food but what we did see of the food looked lovely

The bartender here knew his whisky selections quite well. The beers on tap were quite diverse as well. The prices were cost effective compared to what we find in the US.

A fantastic seafood experience with outstanding and friendly service to boot! Portions were great, and fairly priced considering the high standard of cuisine on offer. The Finnieston is a comfortable leather bound experience that is warm, welcoming and filled with a sense of classic style, while having all the modern finishings of the present day dining experience. Our particular visit also featured an eclectic mix of weekend holidaymakers, business meetings, food fanatics and an already inclusive experience. A Top choice for seafood in Glasgow.
