Went for a beer and free hot dog with two pint offer but the pizza looked so good on the table next to us we had a buy 1 get 1 free pizza. Loads of choice and it was lush. The beer choice was great also. I stuck to the Belgium beer and my mate was on some sort of larger. Good was super quick as well. Under 10 minutes and was great. Staff were brilliant also. Always go back for beer and now good as this was my first time for food.

You can't miss this place. Located very near to many pubs and in middle of city centre, this is my default restaurant to go for vegetarian pizza without any eggs.

There is a red onion and goat cheese pizza which I simply love.

You name the region across the globe and they will probably have a beir from the region. The selection of beirs is massive.

I come here each and every time is visit Glasgow.
Best part is have 2 siting arrangement.
One outside on the street like open garden.
Another is like in a basement or rather lower level.
I generally sit in the lower level. It's kind of nice to quickly get away from the hustle on the streets in city center.

What an unexpected surprise - at the bottom of a fairly gloomy set of stairs with a bouncer /doorman on the street entrance.. my hubby & I had gone in search of a restaurant recommended by his friends & failing to find it went to the next one on their list - the Bier Halle and it was brilliant ! It was a mix of generations, girls out on the town & couples catching up - business men & groups of friends - all made for a noisy, vibes venue.
I had goats cheese pizza while he had haggis - he rated his fantastic and mine was excellent - they also have a great choice of beer. The pizza was two for the price of one - they are big with generous toppings. Most unusual for me was that we paid the bill before we were served - I found this odd but wondered if perhaps one too many patrons had left without paying - it was really busy & quite dark so wouldn't be impossible !

This is a great place to have some good food and good time with friends or family. I loved their roast chicken, mushroom and pesto pizza with a thin crust. The ingredients felt really fresh and pizza tasted good. The Ramsay's Haggis Pizza was also delicious and enjoyable. Not a beer drinker myself, I can't comment on the beers. I had a few cocktails and though they did not blow my mind off, they were pretty decent. Service is prompt and friendly.

This was the best place for beer,
Note was ;). The beer menu is tiny now compared to the novel of old.

Still excellent pizzas and table service. Good music and vibe but they don't take cards!!!

When I first moved to Glasgow I was 18 years old and claimed poverty as a student. Of course I realise now that this was not at all true and that spending all of my money on vodka & Topshop clothes instead of tasty, nutritional food was actually a choice (Super Noodles only cost 50p a pack back then-perfect). I didn’t often go out for food unless my parents were paying or if it was to the cheaper than cheap pub next to college. After I had been in Glasgow for a year or so, I started to branch out and find places that did a cheap deal, i.e. no more than £6 for food. There’s only one or two places that I would still eat in now that I went to back then – some have shut down, some have just gone a bit rank & some I’ve found better alternatives for. The Bier Halle in Gordon Street is one of those places that has proved a constant over the years. Most people my age seem to rave about their pizzas so I have it on good authority. My friend Phil & I used to go to the one upstairs on Sauchiehall Street next to the West Campbell Street car park before it shut down and after that we started going to the Gordon Street one.

The Bier Halle is down a flight of stairs just off Buchanan Street and is a busy little place seven days a week. It is a bar that you can go in to just for drinks but most people have a pizza or a hot dog. They do BOGOF handmade pizzas between noon and 10pm seven days a week. FYI – they don’t take debit/credit cards so pop over to the cash machine across the road before you go in. It is moody and atmospheric with low lighting and loud music. It does have a student-y feel about it but you also get a lot of 20 and 30 somethings coming in after work.

The pizza menu has quite a selection and some nice alternatives from your usual bar pizza choices.

Mr S went for the meat Feast special, which had pepperoni, chicken & spicy merguez sausage on it. I usually have the chicken, mushroom and pesto one but this time I fancied the black pudding and chorizo special from the board. We also ordered a portion of stealth fries because we know from past experience that they are super tasty. The food arrived quickly and I have to say that it is generally very speedy at coming out of the open kitchen.

My black pudding and chorizo pizza had a lovely crispy base and they certainly were not stingy with the toppings. Big chunks of black pudding and authentic tasting chorizo littered the cheesy base. If they ever changed the menu then I’d recommend that they put this on the main menu constantly.

The Meat Feast pizza was also delicious and Mr S chooses it any time he sees it on the specials board.

The fries were crunchy and tasty but had too much salt on them and I would rather they left you to put your own salt on.

I got all excited when I saw Little Creatures Pale Ale as it is a personal favourite & we went to the brewery when we were in Australia. They also sell a mixture of flavours of super cheap schnapps that make me feel young again so I had a blackcurrant schnapps and lemonade. Mr S had a couple of different lagers from their extensive menu that lists beers by country.

I wouldn’t normally say this, but in the interests of being honest, the service in here can be varied. In my experience there is not much smiling going on & it has always puzzled me because most servers live off their tips. It’s almost like it is in keeping with the cool vibe but I find it strange & I know that I am not the only one. It seems to have improved a bit in the last year & the waitress that served us during this visit was pleasant. The pizzas are too good not to go anyway.

The only difference with my visits to the Bier Halle now compared to my student days is that I don’t go to the Union afterwards. I normally go straight home and put my jammies on… more schnapps another day maybe.

Visited here twice in the last week, one Sunday early afternoon and an evening midweek. The service is excellent with the staff visiting your table frequently. The portions are huge and great value for money, a great fine. The soup and sandwich deal or the half pizza and fries deal are definitely worth every penny.

Table of 6 of us in for their 2 for1 pizza offer on a Monday. We all thought the pizzas were delicious, crispy base, lots of toppings and great value. Huge range of bottled beer but my husband would have liked to have seen a couple of local beers on tap too. Staff friendly and a nice atmosphere. Will definitely be visiting again.

We were sitting on the nice terrace, sipping a pint and sharing a pizza. Pizza was nice, with hot honey on it. The ordering online process was easy and they accommodated my requests too. Great service.

Excellent range of beers from different countries, extensive pizza menu with also other food items like hot dogs, and baked camembert !! The pizzas have a thin and crispy base, with really tasty toppings- you can find anything such as black pudding, haggis and duck on pizza! Highly recommend the tuna one, it's delicious

On a quiet Wednesday afternoon on a solo wander around Glasgow I spotted a staircase and decided to explore. And I’m glad I did! Not many customers this time of day… but the vibe was friendly, staff were quick to serve with a smile, and the drinks menu was just what I was looking for. Tucked into a curry bratwurst with pickles, sauerkraut and chips along with a pint of Weisse… can only image the place really comes to life on weekend evenings. Don’t be shy… give it a try.

Never sure why they don't just half the price of the pizza (pizza was great though). The general availability of some of the beers means that the novelty has worn off a bit (reluctant to pay through the nose for beers I can easily find at the supermarket). It was quieter than normal and the food/drink was good and service quick.

One of the best bars in Glasgow. Always popular, with good reason. A massive selection of European beers (although need to add Erdinger), and the food is also very good. The atmosphere is nice and staff are friendly.
