Booked the 5pm deal for two courses and a drink. A busy restaurant on a Saturday afternoon but seats in conservatory which was ideal. Quality of food and service was first class.
Cosy and inviting little restaurant even with the little bits of neon. The staff were pleasant and service was very quick. Starters and mains are very filling so come hungry if you want to try a pudding. There is a great selection of dishes and drinks available. The food was tasty though some things could of had a little extra flavour but you will have a nice evening here. A place to relax and catch up.
An โOsteriaโ is a tavern or inn and Osteria Del Tempo Perso translates as the โtavern of lost timeโ. It is the third in a small chain of restaurants โ the first actually opened in Casalvieri Frosinone in Lazio, Italy while the second can be found in Bruntsfield in Edinburgh. We havenโt been to either of those so the recently opened restaurant on John St beside the Italian Centre (where Tony Macaroni used to be) was to be our introduction (note that there is another Italian restaurant: โAlla Piazzaโ, practically right next door).
Osteria is located at 17 John Street, Glasgow (within Merchant City). It's a 10 to 15 minute walk from Glasgow Central.
The food we ordered was lovely. We had the chicken burger with fries and spaghetti carbonara (the carbonara was quite creamy), with bruschetta classica. For dessert, cheesecake of the day (it was lemon, very soft and airy). We also had a banana split. Big thumbs up!
There were two nice members of staff alternatively waiting on people. The restaurant layout itself is very welcoming. The main part is probably the best area for people who may have any mobility problems. To the left and right of the bar, going up a few steps, you'll find seating. There is a very spacious disabled toilet located to the right of the bar area. It was spotless.
Accessibility to the upstairs part of the restaurant and the ladies and gents toilets is via a spiral staircase. Again, the toilet facilities were gleaming.
I think this restaurant may be dog friendly as well.
Continuing on a canine theme, the S.O.T.B cocktails were the puppy's bow wows!!!! I would go to this restaurant again.
๐๐ Stepped into this Italian joint Osteria in Glasgow, that had me feelin' like I just stumbled into a scene from The Godfather!
๐ผ The atmosphere was as authentic as a Sicilian grandma's secret recipes, and the joint was bigger than Don Corleone's empire! ๐ผ๐๏ธ They've got more pizza and pasta variations than mob bosses have aliases โ capisce? ๐๐ And let me tell ya, the music was thumpin' like a beat-up Cadillac cruisin' down Mulberry Street! ๐๐ถ
Now, the cheesecake, fuhgeddaboudit! It was as big as a suitcase full of cash, but sweet enough to give a rival sugar rush!
But let's talk 'bout that colossal calzone โ it was so massive, I half expected a violin case to be smuggled inside! ๐ป And the price? Let's just say it's an offer you can't refuse! ๐ธ Now, the food prep time, it was quicker than a getaway car at midnight โ 14 minutes flat, no funny business. โฒ๏ธ๐
Lovely little Italian restaurant in the heart of Glasgow city centre. Very polite staff and very good food. Fast service coupled by home made Italian food, what more do you want. Also recent award winners! Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.
Perfect place for trying tasty food with wide range of choose. Atmosphere is calm with romantic music, so that's place is perfect for a date. Stuff is very kind, nice and follow the rules. I hope I'll back when will be in Glasgow next time.
We had the most amazing food here tonight and the staff were amazing and made us feel welcome. The atmosphere of the place was amazing too. The best place we have eaten on our first trip away to Glasgow so we will definitely be returning.
Can't complain about the food as it was definitely 5 star and the restaurant itself was really nice but very quiet.
We ordered from the 2 courses for ยฃ18.95 menu but for my main I had ordered the Osteria burger but instead was given a chicken burger, the waiter was going to take it back but I didn't want them to make a fuss and throw out and waste a burger so instead I took that and to be honest it was really tasty.
I will definitely eat from here again.
The food here is really tasty. We took Advantage of the set menu. 2 courses for ยฃ15.95. I had mussels in wine and pollo cacciatore, both were delicious. Husband had fried mushrooms and a pizza. Good size portions and very flavoursome.
We had a quick and delicious meal here last night. The service was friendly and the food was really decent Italian. The advert laden outside hides a more traditional interior.
We loved our experience at the restaurant in august, great staff and great food. Our boys loved it as well! Thank you!
Family meal (7 people which included 3 children). We all enjoyed the main meals (varied from lasagne, spaghetti, risotto to pizza) and portion sizes were very good. Based on that we decided to order desserts as well but unfortunately they were all extremely disappointing. Tiramisu was overly sweet, not enough coffee and tasted a lot like whipped cream (one of the worst we had in Italian restaurants). Ice creams sundaes also very sweet and not great quality.
Overall we would recommend the restaurant and visit again for a meal but not for dessert.
This is my 3rd time in this restaurant this year. Excellent service, lovely decor, good options in menu, lots veg options friendly staff and food excellent would definitely go back
Had a lovely lunch today here today. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Food was fresh and delicious.
Really charasmatic, helpful and efficient server, Pratham. Lovely base and fresh ingredients at great prices. If you like your pizza with parmasan great, if you prefer it without them do ask. Kitchen team seem very good. Hoping they will be able to make their own garlic, basil and chilli oil. Chilli oil from shop not great. If they make their own oil, this could really be a fabulous fabulous place.
The food was fantastic! I had the Calamari which was fresh and wasnt frozen calamari rings but instead fresh prepped calamari which was tender and had a crunchy coating and was delicious with the lemon. My partner had the mussels in white wine, garlic and cream sauce which was a generous starter portion of mussels as well as having 2 slices of garlic bread! The sauce was incredible - one of the best tasting mussels ive ever had. The mains we ordered a polo fungi and a polo picante pizza. These were so fresh. We were worried the chicken in the polo picante would be dry or over cooked - no! It was fresh, flavoursome and juicy. The rice was cooked perfectly and had a great flavour. The pizza crust was fantastic. There was a generous amount of pizza sauce as well as lots and lots of mozzarella and the ratios were perfect.
We were served by Tony. He was an absolute gentleman! Didn't need to ask any questions, all the menus and promotions were explained to us without having to ask and he had a great knowledge of the place. He brought over water for us when he noticed our drinks were low when we didn't ask. He also offered different condiments and oils for us which went nicely with the pizza crust was a nice touch.
A hidden gem in the centre of Glasgow. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, lovely friendly staff and amazing food. It's well worth a visit.
Very good food. The service is friendly and quick. Genuine Italian atmosphere.
The set menu is great value. Loved the panna cotta dessert. The veggie lasagne with aubergine was delicious. Friendly service. Lovely decor, really cosy and nice for an Italian dinner
Pizzas were great and service was lovely! Nice place to stop for lunch right off the train.
