Well situated for many Glasgow venues - such as the Garage or the CCA. Popped in on a Saturday around 6pm with a friend. Just managed a pre-theatre menu which is very good value. A buffet was also available as was a la carte. Second time here - good restaurant, nice staff and decor. Men's room decor is certainly entertaining! Mixed pakora was quite small (4 pieces) and when asked, we only got 2 pappadum between us.Kingfisher beer was excellent - they also have Tennents draft and many bottles and spirits. The pre-theatre was basic but good. We both had an excellent chicken Tikka masala - not too creamy and still with a nice kick from the tikka. Will definitely be back soon

This restaurant stands apart from others, both in its food and it's theme!
I was out with my parents, giving them a short tour of Glasgow. That's when we found this place. We entered and were so politely greeted by the staff members. The whole place looked so posh !! The tables were quickly filling up at that time, but we managed to get one.
I ordered "Sarson ka jhinga", and my parents ordered "adraki lamb chops". The dishes were presented wonderfully in just a matter of minutes. Everything looked and smelled fresh and was delicious!! They even had a wide range of wines too..
In the mains we ordered "lamb seekh kebab" (tasted exactly like the ones I had in Lucknow, India-the city renowned for its kebabs!) which came with pulao rice and curry sauce, tried Peshawari naan which was a stuffed naan with a mild coconut flavour, garlic chilly chicken, which was perfect blend of garlic and spices. Spicy yet not overpowering other flavours.
All the dishes were visually very appetizing! Pure ambrosia! My parents hadn't had indian food in such a long time and it absolutely made their day! We even had a take-away of "adraki lamb chops". I wish I could share pictures coz it was one of the best indian food restaurants I had visited this whole year..
DEFINITELY worth going!

Good food, good music and good theme 😂. Not to forget the greasy main course though. Avoid excess oil pls.

Located at the top end of Sauchiehall Street, I had been eager to try out Kama Sutra for quite some time. I was not disappointed. The service is excellent and there is such a wide variety to choose from on the menu. The daal makhani is superb and has a spicy edge to it. However, it is the saag paneer which really stands out - perhaps the best I've tasted in all of Glasgow. The restaurant has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere which is aided by the Bollywood soundtrack that plays overhead. Yes, the food is a little on the expensive side but it is worth it. If you really want to treat yourself to great Indian meal in the city centre, visit Kama Sutra.

We would return here no problem. Bustling place on a weekend. Traditional Indian. Possibly the hottest Madras we have ever had. But still great. Good quality, good portions. Yep, defo would return.

Not bad. Nice layout, atmosphere and food.

Only negative thing about it would be that the chain of Harlequin restaurants (Ashoka, etc), never seem to be able to make their chicken muglai... the mildest curry EVER... mild. It still seems to make me chug my drink like it's water.

It's all personal tastes, but they have one sauce, that they use for many different curries, and just add things to adjust it, so with the muglai they just add yogurt. It doesn't work.

I've started going elsewhere for my curry fix now!

The name says Taste of Chennai but even the North Indian food was exceptional… they have great variety and everything we ordered was soooo tasty especially the chicken drumsticks..the owner Siva was very humble and was fully involved in the customer service. Never expected to have such a good authentic dosa in Glasgow.

This is my first time giving a 5 star review after a long time. This place is like a hidden gem. The food was absolutely amazing. Better than Dishoom and Ivy Asia. If you like Desi food, then this place is a must.

We went for team dinner around 18 people. Pros 1. Welcoming atmosphere and service 2. Each non-veg dish tasted different and really good as said by everyone in our team 3. Reasonable price Cons Vegetarian food are average. Every dish had ketchup as base and tasted sweet.

Had an opportunity to visit this place yesterday. I'm glad to see the owner Shiva has taken this place just 2 months before. On this note, this place was fairly busy being Tuesday. The food is fairly priced and extensive menu, as name in itself The Chennai, you can expect to have plenty of South Indian dishes, indeed it ticks the box. Good food, good people. Location is good for people who are coming to the town. What I liked the most is their Masala Tea. Guys support them, it's new business and needs nurturing. Best of luck The Chennai Team.

After hearing a lot of good things about the place, this was my first visit to Taste of Chennai for family lunch. The service was good, starters came early and main course understandably took a little bit. Ambiance was good and for someone hailing from Chennai I kinda felt like at home with the Tamil film songs playing in the background. FOOD: (We were hungry so didn't have the patience to click pics of each dish) Dragon Chicken - Typical Indo-chinese style dish, it was tangy and flavourful. Fish Sukka - Was very good, fried fish added to chukka masala. Felt more like a Tawa version of Fish Polichadhu. Prawn Pepper Fry - This one wasn't there in their menu, I requested if they can make a Prawn version of their Chicken Pepper Fry and they obliged. It was very good, just lacked a little salt. Chicken Dum Biryani - Disappointed. I asked the waitress if the Biryani is of the Chennai style biryani and she said it is Chennai style indeed. But this isn't Chennai biryani at all and I'm sure their Chef would agree with me. Parotta & Chicken Pepper Curry - The ultimate dish we had on our table. It was so epic, I loved every bite of it. Felt like having Parotta and curry in a good Kerala restaurant in India. Chicken Chilli Parrotta - Again a typical Indo-chinese dish, taste was on point just felt the oil was a bit too much. Kids Dosa - The classic Plain Dosa with Sambar and Coconut Chutney, it was very good. We also had Mango Lassi and Rose Milk, the former was too good while the latter was passable. Overall, we definitely enjoyed our experience in Taste of Chennai, will be back soon to try other items on their menu.

Large menu of amazing options. Vegan options clearly marked. Everyone in our group (me being the only vegan) enjoyed everything we had. Great prices for delicious food. If we weren't just visiting from America, we would definitely become regulars.

In search of an authentic South Indian restaurant, we got to Taste of Chennai. The ambience was good and the staff were really friendly. The food was amazing; cooked to perfection that made us reorder a starter with mains. Couldn’t find any fault on the taste, be it salt or spicy. Nothing was overdone and perfect. Overall very satisfied and will definitely visit in the future.

The menu boasts a wide array of traditional vegetarian dishes. The dosas are a standout, with their crispy texture and generous fillings and the idlis are pillowy soft and served with an assortment of chutneys that are a burst of tangy and spicy goodness. Don't miss the authentic filter coffee.

Taste of Chennai hosted my sister's hen party and they went above and beyond from start to finish to make the experience a fantastic and memorable one. The food was perfect and all staff were super friendly and lovely, including the Karaoke DJ. Shiva the manager was very involved and present to ensure everything went well. I cannot thank them enough for a wonderful evening.

Awesome ambiance! Lots of seats but you won’t feel crowded as they are placed in such an efficient manner. Most of the staff are genuine south Indians who knows their stuff. The service was top notch. The quantity of the Masala Dosa is questionable compared to Rishi’s aroma but no compromise in taste. Idly Vada is delicious. The price is pretty standard.
