All four in our party rated the food very highly. The oysters and mussels were plump and delicious and the scallops were cooked to perfection. Definitely a place for seafood lovers. Service was also friendly and efficient.
My Husband and I had a lovely meal here. The seafood is extremely fresh and the choice is phenomenal. The staff were friendly and helpful. The toilets were literally spotless. This may seem unimportant but I think it's a good indicator of the calibre of a restaurant. We will definitely be back.
Definitly worth for the mussels. Any other meal is just ordinarily average. They also make great deals with the mussels pot and a drink for lunch time. Nevertheless you can get a very good dinner, including some wine, at dinner time, for a very good price! Totally worth it! Can't wait to come back again :)
Fresh and very tasty mussels!
We had fish cakes, prawns and smoked salmon as appetizers.
2 buckets of mussels with 2 different flavors: shallot sauce and the special shallot with a bit of red sauce.
Both are really succulent!
The house white wine was extremely light. I don't recommend to go for this choice of wine.
If you're a sea food lover, this place is a must!
Super Awesome seafood!! Scallops, Mussels and Seafood chowder with their bread is super yum!!! This place is a must go if you're in Scotland and a seafood lover!!!
I've visited the Mussel Inn a couple of times now, the mussels are delicious.
To start I had the Grilled Queenies - grilled queen scallops with black pudding. This was a really nice starter. I went for a kilo of the blue cheese, bacon and cream mussels for my main. The mussels taste great, really fresh and the sauce is so tasty we ordered a second basket of bread to enjoy with it. A kilo of mussels was overkill slightly, along with a starter the half kilo would have been enough.
The house white wine was flavoursome and went nicely with the food.
Service was good, staff were much more attentive on the second visit, service had been slow on my first time there. They have had an interesting new special on the board when I have been in. The place has a nice atmosphere however on both visits I have found the restaurant to be very cold, we sat next to a radiator but it didn't seem to be on!
Just had the most amazing seafood chowder and as if things couldn't get any better, then had the Moroccan style mussels - spectacular!
By far, best meal I had on my trip!! I had the seafood chowder as a starter, so nice and comforting on a cold night. Then came the plate of tiger prawns with stir fried veggies and pasta....amazingly delicious. Wish I would have had room for dessert, I bet it's devine!!!!!
Great staff, tasty food and a nice atmosphere. it isn't even that expensive. you have to try it to believe it.
Quality nosh!!!! Popped in last minute, the second time we've eaten in the Mussel Inn and the second lovely meal we've had. Oysters & fish cakes to start. Mains of Mussels, 1kg, Mexican style & the fish platter. Both my wife and I struggled to finish our meals. Both were delicious and well presented. If you like fish especially mussels there's no better place in Glasgow. Service & atmosphere was first class too. Excellent evening had by all...
Ate at Mussel Inn on a weekend visit to Glasgow Jan 2011. Lovely ambience and good service, inexpensive, only one thing spoilt it I chose the 18 mussels with 3 Queen scollops in a red pepper and pesto sauce, the sauce tasted mainly of tomato, there was so much of it, it smothered the delicate taste of the mussels. I ended up eating half of my husbands dish which was delicious. Shame because everything else we had was lovely.
Fantastic chowder, delicious Mussels and a really great hot sea food platter that can easily be shared. Service was also attentive and friendly.
A small group of us came here for some dinner before attending a performance at the Clyde Auditorium.
The restaurant is very handy for both Queen Street and Central Train Stations. We travelled in from Edinburgh and had only a 5 minute walk. The restaurant is very bright and spacious and very modern inside.
Once steaded, we ordered some wine and looked through our food choices. We had seen online that there was a pre-theatre menu, but we hadn't recieved this but having asked for it we were given this also. We chose from the pre-theatre menu. The waitress was also very helpful as one of our party wanted a starter from the main menu and a main form the pre-theatre menu. We appreciated that she was able to accommodate this for us!
To start, I had the smoked salmon spring roll which came with a sweet chilli and creme fraiche dipping sauce. it was delicious! For my main I had the half kilo of mussels in shallot sauce. There were loads! One thing I will mention is that unfortunately some of the mussels had shrivveled in the shells so although the shells looked huge, the mussel inside was very small, but this didn't take away from the taste!
The waitress was also very kind in calling a taxi for us after our meal. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will reccommend to others and hopefully return myself one day!
Love this place, good food and very reasonably priced! The queen scallops are small but very tasty and the sauce of the mussels leaves you wanting more bread to dip into! Always make this a to go to place when in Glasgow!
The restaurant lacks a bit of atmosphere, it's not exactly cheap so I think it should have some nice touches as opposed to for example, very basic furniture. Saying that, the food is really nice. I had the mussel platter and it was delicious, good value too. The place is a decent choice for seafood if you're not after any fancy dining experience
Tried the mussel inn today as fancied a wee change and we weren't disappointed. A warm welcome as we walked in and we were shown to our table the staff took our drinks order and our drinks promptly arrived. We had both tucked into our starters before I thought about taking a picture to share as the smell was amazing and we were both hungry. The cajun squid was cooked to perfection as were the shallot mussels. Then the seafood platter's arrived and as well as being visually delightful the flavours of all components were equally delicious too. The staff were friendly and very professional. I would recommend the Mussel Inn to anyone wanting a good plate of seafood in a nice relaxing atmosphere.
We ordered a lunch special which is the seafood chowder with fries and a 1/2 kg steamed mussels. Both are very delicious. Mussels are fresh. The reason I only give four instead of five stars is because the soup is a little bit salty to me. Other than that everything is great.
Good quality seafood in a friendly atmosphere. Menu is seafood focused with limited offer on meat dishes. Wine list is short and sweet.
This is THE place to eat mussels. Tried the one with white wine sauce and another with blue cheese. Both were great. The mussels were plump and fresh. Very little of that muddy smell that you might sometime find in less fresh mussels. Personally, I prefer the white wine sauce given the delicate taste of the mussels. The blue cheese sauce is great but I prefer a slightly less overwhelming sauce. The restaurant is simple yet tastefully decorated with an open kitchen to see the chefs at work. This makes perfect sense as the best way to eat mussels is simply to use your hands. For this I rather have a more casual environment instead of a formal atmosphere. There is a decent drink list although be warned that they do not allow for outside wine to be drank at the premise. Aside from this, service was great. The waitresses were attentive and eager to ensure that we were well served. I will definitely want to come back and would recommend this place to anyone else.
I always visit Mussel Inn when in Glasgow. They serve fresh seafood of excellent quality. I like to experiment and their menu always have something exciting to choose from. The staff is very friendly and happy to answer any questions. My recommendation: start with oysters and get one of the scallops mains!
Nice food and great service! I like the mussels they cooked here. Yummy and fresh all the times
This was one of the most delicious meals I've ever had in my life! A very low key restaurant, nothing was overly complicated but everything was delightful. Ann was our server and she was incredibly helpful.
We started with a potato leek soup, moved on to fish cakes with a savory cremé sauce, dinner was surf and turf (Angus with queen muscles and tiger prawns in the most delicious saffron and fish sauce, salad and chips), dessert with a pear cinnamon cake with fresh cream. I paired this all with a Italian white wine. I'm 3,000% in love.
Staff are really attentive. Place is spotless. I always order the same 1/2 kilo shallot in white wine. You get a complimentary wee basket of bread and butter.
They only do coke/diet coke. No diet pepsi or pepsi Max 😭 offer a good range of tea. They also offer some dishes that aren't mussels so worth checking their website.
They used to do a fab pear cheesecake but that has changed to something else (I am a fussy riot). Author half got the dessert and really liked it.
