Every time I come to our Glasgow office (for about 10 years now) Charcoals is always a must visit. The food is always excellent quality and the service is great. If you get a chance please take time to go.
Passing by this restaurant feeling hungry we decided to give it a try. Staff are friendly. Good service. Beer too warm. But it's all about the food. Poppadoms and dips, very spicy onions, chicken pakora and aloo chana. Tasty. Jaipuri and chicken biryani. A massive amount of food although extremely tasty. Nan bread and peshwari nan as sundries. Absolutely stuffed. What let's this restaurant down is its awful toilet facilities. So try the Aloo but avoid the loo.
I’ve tried a lamb biryani , mango lassi and. Yogurt sauce loved it! The portion was absolutely big enough for two and it was so delicious. I was given vegetables bakora to try which was very nice and spicy. Overall I would come again the food was fresh and authentic to the cuisine.
Loved this place, superb food fantastic service. We went for the pre theatre at £14.95 and it was delicious and good sized portions. Even for a starter on the house, will certainly be back
Great service, all the employees were really nice and helpful, they even brought out a couple small side dishes for us to try on the house. Ive been a few times and the food is always amazing, this is somewhere I always recommend to anyone coming into Glasgow for a day. You wont be disappointed!
Glasgow has long been renowned for it’s excellent curry houses. Charcoals is right up there with the very best of them.
The food is incredible, and the service is really friendly and attentive. Portions are generous and price wise Charcoals represents great value (particularly compared to its Merchant City rivals).
Absolutely tremendous experience. As we first came in we were greeted with such pleasantries and seated instantly. The atmosphere is magical. The music playing was very calming and welcoming. The waiter came over and took our drinks and was kind enough to explain a drink to me which sounded like heaven. They were very child friendly and very warm towards our daughter. Very patient staff keen to help wherever they could. The food was truly blissful. From their prawn cocktail to their mixed grill, everything we had was delightful. I particularly enjoyed the Chasni with their Naan. The Naan was so soft and warm. The chicken was perfect, it just melted in your mouth. The staff really went above and beyond to make the experience perfect. Even though we were full at the end of the meal, my husband was enjoying his mixed grill so much so he asked for the rest of it to take home along with compliments to the chefs. The dessert menu looked very appealing, we were just too full to entertain a dessert however they we ever so kind to give our daughter 2 lollipops and an ice cream in a cute toy to take home with her along with a complimentary portion of chicken pakora which smells amazing. It's not often I say I'd go back somewhere in a hurry but I'm very keen to return.
Went here with my Dad and my daughter for some lunch. Lovely place very clean and very friendly service. 2 course business lunch at £10.95 was a fantastic price. Food was all very tasty. We started with some pompadoms and dips of mango, lime pickle and mint along with spiced onions then the real starter came my daughter had the vegetable pakora which had a lovely crunch to it and I had the poori with chicken filling very satisfying. For mains the Chasni is very creamy and not spicy but very nice and filling. The Desi Karahi is a lovely blend of peppers, onions, garlic and chilli which I had with chicken it’s a perfect spice rating for someone who likes a little kick but not too much so suited me perfectly. Make sure to get a nan though as it comes in perfectly for getting all the remaining sauce. The portions are a perfect size. Unfortunately no Irn-Bru on the menu. We had a great time here and will certainly go again.
The Food tastes nice, service was good. I'd recommend that that there's a seat or seating area for people with kids also.
I was very satisfied with my experience at this restaurant. The food was very tasty and the service was amazing!
A special thanks to Muhammad Sultan , and chef Imran .
Absolute amazing food, staff are amazing.
Manager very friendly
Myself and my partner eat out a lot on Thursdays.
And the odd weekend.
The only restaurant we have been to where the manager gives back to his customers with free items
Partner loved the little spicy potatoes.
The banter is always good and the waiters are fantastic.
Ps anytime we are in my partner always gets the bill 😄

We had special Biriyani and chicken tikka here. Taste was good. It does have milder flavour to cater to locals mainly. The food tasted good and not super expensive. So makes it a place you can often visit for lunch/dinner. Portions were adequate, I felt starter portion was little less in comparison to the special Biriyani but we were full and happy end of the day. Special mention was the Biriyani curry else I would have been disappointed with only the biriyani.
