Best restaurant in Glasgow do not miss it. Exceptional food created personally by Brian Maule, great service, superb drinks choice and advice. Guaranteed quality time.
Great lunch at Brian Maule’s restaurant on Saturday with our 16 year old 'niece to celebrate our wedding anniversary, the meal was brilliant, as was the service and atmosphere. We did see Brian visible in the restaurant, however he didn’t approach our table, maybe when we visit again for the Gin/Cocktail event we’ll be lucky enough to thank him in person for a delicious meal!
Excellent experience start to finish. Pretty setting - quiet and inviting - not loud like so many competitors. Outstanding seafood and steaks - everyone in party loved their selections! Strong wine list - attentive service - everything you want in a great Fine Dining experience. Check this one out for sure!

Excellent Saturday lunch, went on a itison voucher, so fixed menu, but will be back for the full menu.
The deserts were stunning. And worth the extra.
A bit chilly in one corner but they moved us to a better table.
This is by far the best fine food anywhere in Glasgow! Go for the seasonal Celebration Menu which is fantastic value for beautiful food and savour the fact that the chef whose name is on the door is expertly running the kitchen preparing your food hands-on. Delicious every time.
LET DOWN BY A FAVOURITE !!. This is by far one of our favourite places to dine in Glasgow. Thus our negative review is difficult to write. I note with interest this is going to be Brian Maule at Chardon D'Or first negative review on this site, so I do not write this review with anything other than regret.
Arrived on Saturday at 7.30 having booked some days previous, front of house had difficulty finding our booking, and finally resolved to give us ,quite probably the worst table , next to the door, which on a Glasgow winters night was a very chilling experience, every time the door swung open, to recieve new diners, to exit past diners and of course the smokers coming in and out and the mobile phone callers etc., in came the artic wind, it was perishing.
This was not a good start to what was a special occasion,a birthday celebration, all week we had so looked forward to this trip.
Things compounded ,our starter took one hour to arrive, the offer of bread roll on three different occasion did not mitigate circumstances.
I should point out that we did ask to be moved very quickly, we were told that they would get back to us and let us know if it was possible..., we are still waiting, no further mention was made.
Our starter took 1 hour to arrive(65 minute to be precise)
by which point, having endured the icy blast but a dampner on the starter
My starter of smoked haddock was SUPERB presented beautifully and tasted divine. My lamb main course was again ,wonderful, the woodpigeon starter just fantastic, and the beef , by far the best being served in Glasgow.
We cannot in any way fault the food, there is no doubt in our minds , that Brian Maule serves some of the best food in Glasgow.
Unequivocally it cannot be said that sitting in this cold ice blast of a seat ,can be considered a fine dining experience, fine dining is the full package, Food ambience, wine, staff , even at your busiest most hectic moments , the comfort and service to your patron must remain uppermost.
Dispense with that table in winter, and return it only when the swallows return.
It does your excellent establishment no favours
Good. First time at this restaurant, a lovely tastefully decorated dining room and close by the new Blythswood Hotel- which offers pretty good cocktails if you want a pre or post dinner drink.
The food was generally of a very high standard, well presented and cooked perfectly. The scallop starter was particularly enjoyable- juicy and excellently accompanied by a sharp pesto. A few dishes, including the swordfish and crème brulee, whilst perfectly nice perhaps lacked the depth of flavour one would expect at a restaurant of this level.
The wine list is certainly certainly adequate- with a good variety of mainly French offerings. However it does not compete in size with other comparable restaurants in Glasgow and only three reds and three whites are offered by the glass.
Service was very friendly- good balance of conversation without being intrusive. However the drinks were not always topped up as quickly as would have been liked. It did take a rather long time to get the food ordered- however as we were in no rush this was not a problem.
All in all, an enjoyable experience and certainly worth trying. However, I don't think that this is the 'best restaurant in Glasgow.'
Simply the best in Glasgow!
The best restaurant in Glasgow. Title says it all. . . .

Brian Maules is a lovely resteraunt I thoroughly enjoyed it, brian maules kids attended my primary school and I have met Brian and he is a very kind and funny man
Myself & my husband were here last weekend and it was definitely the best food we have EVER tasted! Everything was perfect and we honestly couldn't find a single fault! We will definitely be back & we have already recommended this restaurant to everyone we know! I've never been to a restaurant where the Chef shows so much pride in their work!
We had dinner here last night. The staff were lovely, the resturant was quiet and great for my partner and I to have a chat over dinner. My partner had the duck and I had the beef both were great and the cheese board afters was really good.
We had the most amazing experience during our visit on Friday evening. This place really has everything! The minute I walked in it was like entering someone's home. This plush Georgian villa that was just so welcoming with beautiful intimate surroundings. It's a unique experience that leaves behind the pretentiousness of other fine dining restaurants in Glasgow. It doesn't need to be pretentious as the food does all the talking! This is what impressed me the most the attention to detail and the focus on the food and tasting experience. The food is really on another scale and class of any other restaurant within the city. Every mouthful we savoured as it really was a taste sensation. The staff team at Brian Maule are also of a different league. They can't do enough for you and take such care to ensure you have an unforgettable and amazing experience. When you wake up the next day still thinking about the beautiful and exquisite dinner you had the night before you know you have been somewhere very special. That's how I would describe the experience overall.......unforgettable! Thank you to all the team at Brian Maule for such a wonderful evening.
Was a lovely experience and would go back again. From the greeting we received, to the table service, clean linens it was definitely a fine dining experience. The food was amazing I went for the vegetarian dish with polenta for mains and it did not disappoint.
The best meal I had in three weeks in Scotland. Perfect service and a gorgeous atmosphere. Book it so you don’t miss out. The chef came to the table to greet us and thank us at the end which was a nice touch. E had lamb, filet and duck and it was all amazing.
Lovely surroundings and great food, served by charming staff.
It was a tasting menu and I'd sincerely recommend everything!
The wines were pared with the dishes, I have a personal preference for anything aged in Pedro Ximenez casks so the last wine was my favourite.
What can I say about this restaurant this has got to be the best place I have been for years the food was amazing. We went here for a small family wedding meal, the staff where so friendly and helpful, and even the chief came out to see if we had enjoyed our meals which was a nice touch. Highly recommended you will not be disappointed.
Top quality menu matched with the friendliest of service. Zero complaints! And make sure to get the Tarte Tatin, it was a definite highlight!
Brian Maule's food is proper grown-up dining. My companion and I enjoyed everything we ate from the a la carte menu. We loved the elegant decor. We had great advice regarding wine selections from a knowledgeable waiter.
Brian Maule interacts unobtrusively with the diners which was very much appreciated. The other member of the waiting staff served us pleasantly and offered to book a taxi for us. We'd had such a good time we were reluctant to leave.
The food was phenomenal, the rare lamb main was gorgeous and the apple tart tatin was lovely. Only issue was didn't like all the cocktails we had but that was down to personal taste, next time we know which ones to order. We'll definitely return in the near future as it's one of the best restaurants we've been to
