This place never disappoints. The food is always exceptional and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. We had a lovely evening - the staff seem to have a third sense for when to approach and when to leave you to chat. We did forget two dishes and the lamb chops were a bit fatty (you have to expect that though). Food and desert were lovely.
Went for family dinner to this lovely place for the first time with my mum and sister, Juan Carlos made me and my family feel very welcome, excellent customer service. The food is excellent we shared a selection of tapas sending our compliments to the chef Jordi after.
Good value for excellent service and amazing food. Highly recommend as I can’t wait myself the next excuse to go in for food.
The food at this restaurant is simply superb. Vibrant, intense flavours in every dish, and everything is authentic - a Spanish owner, Spanish wine, Spanish music, Spanish decor, and the very best Spanish food. I recently took 21 friends and family there for a celebration and everyone enjoyed it, friends who have spent time living in Spain were praising the food for being as good as anything they've had in Spain. Highly recommended!
A real taste of Spain!!. As a lover of tapas, i only recently discovered this great little place on the southside. The venue has that spanish tapas feel about it, in that it is not La Tasca or Cafe Andaluzish in style of decor but very simple. The food is the best i have tasted in terms of authentic tapas, portions are smaller tahm other places but that is real Tapas!! Food is cooked fresh, sauces very individual and very tasty and great combinations. I loved it and will be a regular from now on. The other tapas places are more commercial but this is a real find and the real deal, staff very friendly and prices are good. Its off the beaten track but well worth the visit. Hasta Luego Amigos!!
Great wee find. This is a great wee restaurant and worth a trip to experience some authentic tapas. Its is a laid back place with all the staff being attentive and eager to please. We had Prawns (good sized king prawns), a lamb dish (gorgeous), Paella ( Yum) and Calamari ( not deep fried) and served with aioli. The Rioja was a reasonable price too so ordered a bottle!
Nice touches like complimentary appetiser brought to the table and an aperitif after dinner all added to a great wee night at Malaga tapas
Authentic Spanish tapas in Glasgow!. Have longed for years to experience authentic Spanish cuisine in Glasgow and until now have been consistently disappointed - La Tasca, Cafe Andaluz, the one in the Merchant Square - all bland.
Mission accomplished now that I have discovered and dined at Malaga Tapas, a cosy, comfortable bit of Spain in an out-of-the-way location in Pollokshields. The food was delicious and freshly prepared, the service welcoming and helpful. This restaurant is going to be one of my regular dining places in Glasgow.

After all of that wonderful food I breathed a sigh of relief that it was as good as it had been the first time. It makes me so sad when I return to somewhere and it doesn’t meet my expectations. Malaga still makes it to the top of my favourite tapas restaurants in Glasgow list.

Recently I’ve been making mental notes about which restaurants not to forget to return to. Especially since I began this blog, I’m always on the lookout for new places so it’s easy to not make it back to one of Glasgow’s gems for a year. This said, we decided that a (non-hungover!) return trip to Malaga Tapas in the Southside was in order.
We popped in for a Monday lunch and the restaurant was quite quiet – this place really is one of Glasgow’s best kept secrets. We opted for the lunch menu again, which gives you three tapas from the a la carte menu for £6.95. Some of the dishes we chose were the same as last time so I’ll not repeat what I’ve already said but they were still delicious.
We really wanted to try the homemade black pudding (Morcilla Espanola) because the homemade chorizo was so flavoursome on our last visit. It was seriously tasty, and meatier than the black pudding you usually find over here. It arrived in a quince sauce that was similar to the chorizo sauce and very nice. Definitely one to get bread with to soak up all of the sauce.
Mr S chose the Fritura De Pescado as our seafood option – squid, king prawns & white fish fried and served with garlic mayo. The batter was crispy, not too oily & the seafood tasted fresh. Another good choice!
We tried the classic Tortilla Espanola to vary what we had from last time. I love the idea of classic dishes and Tortilla Espanola is a cracker for Spain with its egg and potato combo. Lots of potato and onion layers and a slight salty stock taste to it – very nice but a touch too much salt for my liking.
Finally I need to give a nod to how great value this place it. They have a host of offers on from the 3 tapas lunch we had for £6.95 to the A diario offer where tapas are £2.75 each between 5pm and 6.30pm Sunday to Thursday.

Presentation is one thing but when it comes to eating out it's all a matter of taste.
Think of it like one of those surgically-enhanced floozies who adorn the pages of those magazines for braindead men.
Sure, they're very nice to look at and impure thoughts may ensue but, when you get down to it, there's no substance. And substance is what we're ultimately after. Right?
If you think all that's a bit sexist you should've heard the anecdote from Guillermo, the head chef at authentic Tapas Restaurant Malaga.
Suffice to say, I'll be very careful with the company I keep next time I listen to The Smiths.
Malaga, near Shields Road Underground - a 5-minute ride from the city centre - is the real deal when it comes to Tapas. You get the authentic, rustic creations from Southern Spain rather than the bland, assembly-line offerings from the more established chains.
I've often wondered why there are so many classy Italian and Indian restaurants in Glasgow, but very few (if any) of their Spanish equivalents.
Well hopefully Malaga will start a trend and even if it does, future competitors will have to hit the ground running – very quickly.
The restaurant is a favourite haunt of the local media and minor-celebrity set in the city and you can see why.
Salmonico (a typical Cordoban dish), Paegia (Paella) with chicken and chorizo,whitefish marinated with paprika and a mind-alteringly fantastic swordfish dish were just a few of the wares sampled in this charming little bistro-style eaterie on the southside.
Even the patatas bravas were expertly pepped up with chilli rather than the more typical bland tomato. And the croquettes were melt-in-your-mouth superb.
But the lamb with mango was the best of the best and for dessert was a family recipe – Mantecados, which was a pumpkin-and-cider flavoured crumbly cake, accompanied with Muscatel dessert wine.
Quite simply, no one can match this quality on the mainstream Glasgow Tapas scene.
It’s lovingly-prepared and personalised dishes from a cuisine-obsessed Spaniard, as opposed to assembly-line production from the Spanish section of a food and booze conglomerate prepared by, well, anyone, and you better get along here quickly as the queues for tables will soon be around the block.
Especially as Guillermo wants to be the first celebrity chef from the Iberian peninsula to be a household name in this country. At this rate, that’s a given.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this place. The food was excellent and the service was great. Plenty of seating available including an outdoor area if the weather is good. Extensive wine and drink options, lots of different food options as well. Prices were reasonable. There was also a specials board on the wall. Highly recommend the fish, it was fantastic. I would come back to try the dishes I didn't the first time round. Overall a great experience.
Fantastic authentic Spanish food in the south side! Great service. Only thing I wish was that food was delivered as ready instead of all at the same time. Great value for money. The beef with the sherry sauce was unreal and the sauce itself you have to get bread to dip in, it's fantastic Would definitely recommend and visit again.
Best Spanish Tapas, even better than many places I’ve been in Spain. Gambas Pil Pil are always amazing! So is the Chicken with Black Pudding and Sherry sauce.

Some of the best Spanish tapas I’ve ever had! Incredible food and lovely atmosphere. Service was excellent and faultless. Had 5 tapas and 2 desserts which were plentiful. Definitely coming back soon!
We got 9 dishes between 3 people. All great and very tasty. Possibly slightly salty but that may be more about the food we picked. Nice selection of wines. Daily specials board with some extra choices. We only had mains, no dessert. As good as anything I've had in Spain. I will definitely be back.

The food was absolutely delicious, we especially loved the croquettes which were 10/10. Also really enjoyed the calamari as they were fresh and not rubbery, the batter was light and not too oily. The pimientos de padron were also very good. Patatas bravas were a bit too crispy for my liking to the extent where some I couldn't really eat as I was worried I may lose a filling 😬 We also ordered one of the specials - scallops with romesco sauce. They came with iberico on top, which was not listed in the menu, and was an issue as my friends don't eat pork. The waiter was apologetic and offered a replacement. We then realised the romesco sauce is nut based, which we didn't know, and the allergen wasnt listed on the menu either but at this point we didn't want to turn into the guests from hell. Unfortunately the scallop dish wasn't the only hiccup that evening, as we had to wait over 40 min to be served food. Also when the bill came we noticed we had been charged for 2 soft drinks that we didn't have, we notified the waiter who took the bill but only took one of them out. We didn't bring it up again as it felt awkward but it reflected our tip. Also there was a bit of a sewage/stale smell, even tho we were far from the toilets. Overall, we had a good night, if this was in actual Malaga, I'd give it 3*, but since it is in the south side of Glasgow, my expectations were somewhat lower and the food was good
Fantastic local restaurant. The menu has all the classic tapas dishes. And a specials board. Our food was delicious. Staff are extremely helpful. Great prices for both food and wine. We also had room for dessert, and the almond cake was amazing 👏 😋 😍
Best tapas in Glasgow! Friendly service, authentic dishes - fresh and tasty. The sangria is spot on too. We met as two couples with a baby, staff were very accommodating. Highly recommend the Crème

Malaga Tapas blew my mind and my tastebuds. The food tastes exceptional and authentic. The chorizo was my favourite. The atmosphere was cozy and home-like. Service was great! Very welcoming and humble staff. Not afraid to say that I have been back 3 times during my trip. Would absolutely recommend.
Just visited this evening after 3 weeks in Spain, and couldn't fault any of the food, it was molto bueno! As good as anything I've had recently in quality native restaurants. Good value, don't mind paying for quality, and I'll definitely be back. Only sorry that I've not been before now.
