Visited here yesterday before going to a gig. I have always enjoyed this restaurant and have never been let down but I do tend to forget about it when I’m looking for somewhere to eat in town. Food and drink is reasonably priced. We each had a main course and a few drinks and everything was perfect. Staff are very welcoming and attentive.

It's hard to fault this excellent Italian. So I won't. Great place, lovely interior, staff with amazing memories for orders is almost like magic, sure they have tape recorders. Outstanding food.

Amazing!!!. We went last night and were really impressed with this place.
It's constantly busy, but on our experience the service doesn't suffer for it.
It was quite expensive, although we did manage the full delicious courses, 3 large glasses of wine and a pint of beer. Bill was £78. The drink added about £30 to our bill, so best avoided if on a budget.
I chose the pre-theatre which was £15.95 and my partner chose a la carte.
The pizza was huge, at least 14" and as delicious and not covered in cheese like our pizzas normally are.
Highly recommended!!!

Good Quality Italian Food. We ate here last night at 9am. The restaurant as really busy but the service and atmosphere were first class. The food was very good. We had the tuna carpaccio, aubergine, veal, pizza and rocket salad, all were first class.

Service was attentive and courteous. Food was delicious which is a must given that fresh pasta is so freely available and cheap to cook at home. Décor is clean, crisp and spacious. Portions were just right, although would like to see a lunch menu or set lunch options. Strangely for an Italian there was no Lasagne ? Meant to ask why but forgot - perhaps you should if you visit. Most importantly I would go back to eat here again.

The staff were friendly and patient (we can never decide what to have) & I appreciated them running after me when I was walking past later on because I forgot my brolley!

Including drinks (a beer & two glasses of wine), the bill came up to about £50 so it was not ridiculously expensive and we had a lovely anniversary meal.

The Italian Kitchen is a stylish spot in the Merchant City producing good quality Italian dishes. I visited at lunchtime and enjoyed my visit. Service is friendly and prompt and portions are hearty and generous.
We concluded by saying: "I thought the Italian Kitchen was doing pleasingly good work. It served me two very good courses for a decent price. I’d happily visit again next time I’m looking for a substantial and tasty Italian feed."

I have a true love affair with Italian food. I eat it a lot and there’s always an Italian restaurant on my short list for where to go for lunch or dinner. Such is my obsession that extra virgin olive oil, good quality balsamic vinegar, garlic, lamb & fresh seafood would make up the main ingredients to my last meal, maybe with a bit of pizza or focaccia thrown in. The fresh ingredients coupled with the rustic approach wins me over every time.

As with most things, I tend to break down Italian restaurants into categories for ease of making a selection. The three main ones are meaty Italians, pizza Italians and everyday Italians but some places fit into more than one home. The latter category has recently been filled with visits to Celinos and Soho, due to to the closeness of Celinos to my flat & the excellent value of Soho. My go-to meaty Italian is La Lanterna but I’m planning a visit to La Parmigiana soon. The Italian Kitchen on Ingram Street falls between the meaty and pizza category, as I’ve had both there and both have been delicious.

The restaurant has been part of the Merchant City for a few years now – their website says four years but I’m sure we’ve been going there a little longer than that so it might just need updating. It was opened by the same people that have the nearby Italian Caffe but while the Italian Caffe concentrates on italian tapas like dishes, the Italian Kitchen has a large range of pizza, pasta, meat & seafood.

There is one massive draw that takes us back to the restaurant – their rabbit ravioli. Homemade ravioli is a rarity in restaurants and a relatively untapped market in Glasgow. Then if you put rabbit in a ravioli, you’re on to a winner for me…providing it has some flavour. We first tried the Italian Kitchen’s rabbit ravioli a few years back and I remember being absolutely smitten – dreaming about it for days afterwards. Thankfully, it is still as delicious today and is served in a starter portion of five pieces topped with peppery rocket. I always ask for cheese, which is of the fresh grate-at-the-table variety, because italian cheese makes everything taste better. The ravioli filling is rich and slightly gamey and the pasta is the perfect thickness. The dish is served with a game gravy, which complements the flavours of the rabbit and the rocket brings a fresh peppery element to the dish.

The ravioli is also part of one of their set menus, which seem to be on all the time, so you can get it with a main course for £17.95. Mr S went for the set menu but I went a la carte because I really fancied a pizza. I eventually decided on a simple pizza of tomato sugo, mozzarella, anchovies, olives, capers and extra virgin olive oil but asked for it without the anchovies because I find they can overpower the other flavours. Their pizza bases are crispy but doughy and one of the best that I’ve found in Glasgow for my tastes. I like that the high quality mozzarella almost blends with the tomato sugo so it’s just a creamy tomatoey goo and, on this occasion, I enjoyed the saltiness of the capers and olives.

Mr S chose the grilled fillets of seabass with lyonaise potatoes and fine beans and he admitted that he was slightly disappointed on first taste. It seemed somewhat a plain dish when it arrived with no sauce. There was a lump of flavoured herby butter on top but that was the only flavour injection. But as he made his way through the dish he commented on how he was enjoying it more and more. In hindsight, I think that the wrong sauce could easily ruin the dish and simplicity was better in this instance. The butter was not yet melted when it arrived so you can put on as much or as little as you want so the seabass can take centre stage. In the end the dish won him over and he was glad that he chose it.

We skipped dessert (again – I’m so proud of myself!) because I was full after my gigantic pizza, which they packaged up the last of so I could take home.

The italian kitchen offers one of the best pizzas in town! Went there a few weeks ago to have a lunch and ordered Mix Salami Pizza that costed me £11.95.
Have to say that I have never had such a good pizza in my life. The customer servise is very helpful, decoration is just outstanding and the price is cheap compared to what you get in return. Could have take a photo of the pizza so everyone could see how great pizza they serve.

I really liked this place. The servers were great and one of them was very funny, which is always nice. The pasta was very tasty. However, the pasta was a bit overcooked, which was a bit disappointing. My pizza was the star of the show, though. It was easily one the best and most tasty pizzas I've had in Glasgow. Using that oven definitely makes a difference. The bottom was crispy without being burnt, and the toppings were generously added on. The waiter didn't use a notepad and forgot one of the items from the order. It's all fine and well if you can remember everything, but if not, it's not best to just jot it down. The decor and overall atmosphere of The Italian Kitchen was top tier. Overall, this place would be ideal for a date or family meal. Highly recommend.

Good place for a relaxing meal, which tastes good and served timely. The staff are nice , though if the place is busy they can be a bit distracted and disregard signs from customers clear as daylight. The pizza is ok, ours was fine but we had a bit of flex in the pasta base. I would not go for specifically for the pizza here and they have no other base than tomato base. Many places near by has other base at least a few. The chips is great and the pumpkin soup was delicious. The squid could be better, as a starter that was a bit rough. Coke was a bit strange, not sure which type was it. Otherwise clean and tidy place but a bit crammed and no option to have a pram at your table which makes a bit complicated for families with little one.

I didn’t go for the classic pizza options as I wanted to be healthier (had pizza two days in a row) and I chose the mushroom risotto. Nice and creamy and tasted quite good. I did add king prawns to it as a request and it was perfect! 😊

I was here with my friend before a night out. The staff is super friendly and the food is amazing. I usually don't tip (sorry but with the current prices who can blame me 🫣) but I just had to leave a tip. Usually I find the staff overwhelming because they come to the table every 10 minutes to ask if everything is ok, but here I was able to enjoy my good make a couple kids to the waitress to let her know the food was great. It was just nice, even though it was super packed. And the staff will do whatever they can to make the food as you like/need it. Even when it is packed!

Great customer service. The pizzas are large enough to share if also splitting an appetizer. The salad I got was drenched in dressing which was disappointing, the pizza was pretty good - would be an ideal spot for a group due to the extensive menu and casual atmosphere.

We had some delicious pizzas here! The pizzas were slightly expensive however (13-15£), but they were very tasty and quite big. The staff was very busy but we got our pizzas quite fast. The ambiance is good. You might want to make a reservation!

Delicious food in a lively and pleasant atmosphere. Staff were very good and the wine was nice. It was helpful that they split the pizza and pasta that we were sharing in the kitchen before they served it to us.

Went for a meal with some friends. Service was excellent, given that we were a table of eight. No long wait for all the food to arrive like has happened at other places. Can't fault anything.
