It’s been a while since my last visit but the high standards of quality food has been maintained. The menu had lovely choices. All 3 starters went down well. The pigeon , chicken Caesar croquettes and the beetroot and crowdie salad all had empty finished plates. The mains were also as well received. The harissa lamb shank had a good bite to it, the chicken and mushroom pie was raved about and unusually presented and the sea trout was a very generous portion. Great quality all round.

My big sister was down visiting me and we were going to a show at the Hydro. I was looking for a restaurant to book and chose Fanny Trollopes. The location was right and I have been a handful of times before and liked it. I had not been for a while after having a mediocre meal but every meal before that left with me raving about Fanny’s so this return visit was long overdue.

A bottle of red was ordered but for the life of me I can’t remember what it was. We both liked it though. The red wines are all priced between £14.95 and £19.95 – pretty decent prices.

We had a little pre-starter of salmon with salad, crème fraiche and capers. Not usually one for salmon, I tentatively put some on my fork but it was actually lovely. I’d have happily eaten it as a starter with a few more leaves and will keep an eye out for it next time.

We both chose the pre-theatre menu, which is £12.95 for two courses. Our first starter was smoked salmon kedgeree with crème fraiche. It was delicately spiced so the salmon flavour still got a look in and had a slight smokiness. The crème fraiche was nice to bring some zingy creaminess into the dish.

I chose spicy mince koftas with a cucumber and mint dressing as my starter. The cucumber and mint dressing was just like the tzatziki I was eating in Greece earlier in the year and I liked the aromatic koftas. The meat was a little more cooked than I would have done at home.

I’ve had gammon here before and really enjoyed it so as soon as I spotted baked ham on the menu my main course was decided. My sister was convinced by the colcannon so we both had the same. It was good, in fact I’d say great. Comforting, tasty and meaty. The honey and mustard on the ham almost melted into the gravy and the ham itself was melt in the mouth.

We still had a fair bit of wine in the bottle so thought we might as well share a dessert. The weather was rubbish so we stuck with the comfort food theme and ordered sticky toffee pudding. The sponge was soft and there was lots of sauce to scoop up with each mouthful. We struggled to finish it but that wasn’t a reflection on the food – eyes bigger than our bellies.

Fanny Trollopes is another place in Glasgow that often flies under the radar and, as much as I want to keep it to myself, I also want to share it. Our waitress, Harriet, was friendly and accomodating. The pre-theatre menu is remarkably good value for money and they nail the neighbourhood bistro brief.

AMAZING dinner we had at Fanny Trollopes! All the seafood was so fresh and cooked to perfection - especially the scallops they did an absolutely fantastic job. One thing I really love was how starters came in such a generous portion. Added on edit: All staff were also so so nice and friendly. And that perfected our time there. Really appreciate their hospitality. It was my first time here but I will surely turn into a regular. Highly recommended!!!

We had dinner at this lovely place. The waiter was very kind and charismatic, which absolutely contributed to the ambiance in the restaurant. The dishes were of good quality and were "complex"; a lot of well chosen, special and tasty ingredients. The pricing is fair. (The pigeon starter is very tasty, I forgot to make a picture)

The venue is small so I would recommend booking. The food is tremendous and the staff are so nice. What’s not to like. Will definitely being coming back for more. The desserts were delicious we had the chocolate fondu, sticky toffee pudding, apple crumble and oh so delicious custard and the cheeseboard. They were all fantastic and to be recommended.

Super tasty food and a fun, quirky venue. Staff were great, very friendly. Starters were lovely and big portions! The scallops with black pudding were a favourite. We ended up having the specials for mains - the smoked pork belly and the fish of the day - which were both delicious. Would recommend for a special occasion or just a nice meal out.

Food is 10/10 had the pigeon breast to start and the ox shin special, delicious. Such a nice cosy vibe and love that there's a wee bit of a story in the menu.

Popped in here by myself before a concert, no reservation. They were quick and kind to accommodate me. Was planning on just having the short rib small plate and a glass of wine. Ordered a SECOND short rib, it was THAT good. Very evident they are very passionate about providing excellent food and service! Will definitely be back to try something else!

Great service and delicious food! The waiter was soooo nice to us. We absolutely loved the food - Thai noodles and scallops as starters, steak (dad), salmon (mum), and sea bass (I) for mains, and we enjoyed cheese board and biscotti as desserts. Everything was just perfect!

I went here for valentines day...it was last minute. I called, spoke with Leo who graciously found a time slot that suited me. It was so easy to locate and very close to my residence. It is a small resturant but I love the way they utilised the space, very compact. Leo welcomed us and took our coats. We sat by the window and it was so cosy. We were welcomed with a glass of fizz. Appetisers I had pastrami- cured salmon, fresh crab, creme fraiche & herb, dill oil- it was very nice. My partner had slow braised short- rib, conflict garlic mash, peppercorn sauce. I totally enjoyed his appetiser. Main I had the grilled sea trout, tenderstem broccoli, roast chorizo, pepperonato with garlic & herb pangrattato. The favours in my meal was just so exciting. My partner had pan-seared chicken supreme, dauphinois potatoes, haggis bon bon, mushroom & tarragon cream sauce. I also had a taste Nd it was a delight. Dessert Dark chocolate & almond fondant, salted caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream. We had same dessert and it was so sweet. It was a bit late so we had our meal with water and my partner ordered tea afterwards. I now understand why this resturant has alot of good reviews. At each point, Leo or another staff would come over to ask if we wanted something. I felt welcomed and was treated so well. I would rate them more than 5 star if I could lol. I will be stopping by soon enough.
