Visited for the first time with my friend today for a cheeky bottle of Prosecco and a sharing platter!
Staff were very attentive, polite and we had the best time! Good grub also and reasonably priced! Would definitely recommend!

Hadn't been here for years and glad we picked this place as the food was really nice. As far as pub food goes it was well cooked, I had the mixed grill and the steak came out perfectly rare. It was quite busy but seemed to all running smoothly and guests were served pretty quickly with a conveyor belt consistency.
I have a picky ten year old who devoured the Mac and cheese (impressive anywhere if he eats a lot).
Customer service was decent but can't say there was anything that stood out as exceptional or in the realms of excellence but good I think fairly sums it up. Lacks a good front of house person if anything, someone to guide customers / manage diners etc.
Atmosphere wasn't great but the venue can only control so much. Parents not parenting their kids and lots of screams and loud outbursts did affect the atmosphere to some extent. As a parent I don't feel bad for saying this as manners and respect seemed to of failed with the family we were sat opposite to.
The outdoor area looks like a great spot for days with better weather and had a few heated seating areas / huts for the colder evenings as well as an outdoor bar area for a quicker service . I'll definitely return here for the garden next summer if not before.
Nice and clean on the whole, can't complain about plates , glasses or cutlery or any horizontal surface but lots of food marks on the wood panelling next to the tables that could do with a clean. For somewhere that seems pretty decent otherwise it is a bit of a letdown that could easily be got on top of with a quick wipe up.
I'll definitely return here in future and would recommend to anyone looking for a decent steak and a pint or just a bit of your typical pub grub.
Great food,service was very good & there was 9 of us,all meals were delivered together & we didn't wait long. Staff were friendly & place has a very nice homely atmosphere. Parking right outside,wheelchair access. In all an amazing experience,would highly recommend. We had a lovely Sunday roast & at 2 meals for £15 very good value for money.
Our first visit in a good long while... but it didn't disappoint!!
Food was great with the starters only taking about 10mins to come out, tasty chicken triple nibbles. Followed by what has to be one of the best combo meals!! I couldn't even finish it!! Not through lack of trying either!!
We left completely stuffed and only spending around £50 for the two of us.

Excellent pub. Always has been, and always continues to get better. The food here is amazing and the customer service is top notch. Whether it be just for a dinner or a night out with mates, this is a brilliant place to go. Highly recommended to anyone.
Stunning. The breakfast burrito was absolutley mouth watering. I didnt want it to end. So impressed. I am very judgy about breakfasts but this was very special. And so reasonably priced.
Tori was amazing! Lovely friendly service with a smile. Was happy to go above and beyond for guests. Myself and my friends will be happy to come along again to receive such stellar service. Also the good was great and came quickly when ordering through the app.
The food prices are very affordable at the star. You get so much food and hence why you should visit when you are very hungry, your money will go a long way, I think! It seemed very popular among locals in the area. The customer service was okay, not outstanding. We may visit again to try the breakfast menu.
Ideal for few beers and a cheap bite to eat. Staff friendly and chatty. Be great if lit heated garden cubby holes were cleaned and wiped down always sticky tables and seats.
Very nice place with good menu. There is a special meal deals every day. My favorite choice there is Jumbo Fish & Chips. There is a children palyground outside, my son loves to go there. Every time, when we visit Gillingham, we go for a good meal to The Star.
Thought I would try this a few months ago. The food was really enjoyable. But we didn’t book in advance but every table was booked, we sat down anyway and staff asked if we booked the table. We said we didn’t and they said that it isn’t a problem, but they moved us to a different table. They said that they put a reserve sign on every table and when people book they just sit them anywhere. So I don’t see why they couldn’t have let us sit at the first table in the first place.
Other than that the service and food was good.
Took family for a spot of lunch and I was pleasantly surprised. The fridge was hot and tasty with a nice portion size and the staff were helpful too. Emma was great by checking on us and running to and fro for the kids.

We come here all the time as it's cheap and cheerful and we have a big family. It's the kids' favourite place- if they have the choice of any restaurant to go to, 99% of the time they choose The Star 😂 the staff are always friendly and the food is great for the price. It is very rare we have a problem with any of the service. There's a lot of new staff on the floor too, so it's not just because they know our faces. Extra thanks to the chef- I made a request on the crispy chicken sandwich on Friday (19/05) and you were more than happy to oblige which was so awesome and made my day!! 😊
Had a lovely time on this occasion. The food and service were fab. Don't recommend when something big is on the TV though, as they are only interested in watching it. The customers become a mear second thought.
