This is one heck of an eatery! We travelled down to Gillingham for a social the next day and having checked into our hotel went looking for an Indian restaurant for a meal.
We googled and up came New Shipa right at the top of the list so naturally we thought we'd give it a try.
We found the place and on first sight thought this looks like just any other Indian restaurant. Little did we know. Its a nondescript place. Very beige but boy o boy were we mistaken.
Ordinary does not do this place any justice. It may look ordinary but the food was fantastic. Delicious pieces of lamb in a hot sauce for starters followed by a mixed Biriyani (not on the menu so you'll need to ask).
My wife had the magic mushrooms (no, not those, silly 😋), mushroom stuffed with a meat mix and fried in a breadcrumb batter (very delicious!!) followed by a lamb biriyani.
Its no wonder the restaurant has Bern around for 32 years. Good in them. We'd bevback again and again if only we lived locally.
Lovely food , great portion size and I loved the curry it was so fresh and the nan bread was lovely and fluffy but crunchy on the edges , the restaurant could do with some more new flooring though and let in some natural light but apart from that it was lovely and the staff where so helpful and nice, was a little pricey but I've walked away full and ate everything that I ordered.
Had home delivery food very good all five curries arrived hot and on time will use them again
Whether we're celebrating birthdays, anniversaries or just a Friday. We love shippa. Never had an issue. And today they went above and beyond for my hubby's birthday. Will always recommend here.
A group of 4 of us ate in at this restaurant on a Sunday night for the first time. It was very quiet, only one other table. The food was great, very tasty and we didn't wait long at all. The prices were what you would expect from a usual Indian restaurant. The only negatives would be the decor is very dated but you're there for the food so not really a big issue. Will definitely be returning.

One of my favourite places to eat since moving to Kent.
The food is always hot and delicious when it arrives and good portions; sauce to meat ratio is👌🏼. Very accommodating and easy to order with via phone and in-person (I haven't tried to order online yet).
The size and texture of their naans are great; thick and chewy in place, with a little charring.
Food was nice. But the place needs updating. Could do with a lick of paint. And flooring needs to be cleaned.
This place is excellent. Great Bangladeshi food at good prices. Crispy fresh poppadoms. Ice cold bottled Cobra. Tried most Indians in Medway over 25 years and the Shipa hits the spot.
The hand drier in the gents has never been good but other that that a fine curry. Usually quiet in the week.
Had the Sunday 10 quid deal, fantastic food. Not been here for 10 years and still great food.....don't let the tatty decor' put you off, really clean, friendly staff, great chef. Thanks guys from Norfolk
My father comes with his friends here most of the time after work and the beer prices are so reasonable and cheap, the food is spectacular and absolutely delicious, my mother loves the chocolate 😂
One of my favourite curry restaurants in Kent. Consistently good food, friendly service and affordably priced. A very good menu that caters for all tastes and requirements. Highly recommend.

Lovely sauce, not watery like some ive had before.
Crispy bhajis, not oily at all.

Firstly thank you for offering delivery service ... it's our birthday today and we really fancied Indian !!!!. Had the CTM, chicken tikka Jalfrezi , breads etc .. was all delicious and will be ordering again from here. Thank you and stay safe
