Went in with some mates yesterday got a sea bass off the specials menu and some garlic king prawns was class like, bit pricy but was all fresh and tasty so was worth it, never normally do reviews but was worth the shout �
Went with my friend today and the food was amazing! I'm a Chef and very picky about food but this place 5* all the way! Will definitely be bringing Hubby when he's home from working away! Lovely staff too and a lovely decor/design ( My Hubby renovates Bars and Hotels for a Living as a Joiner) Cannot wait to show him this place honestly! 100% Will be back!
We live in Cumbria and visit once a month for dinner with family and friends. The food is always delicious, it doesn't matter what we order. This Saturday the chicken and leek pie washed down with chocolate brownie were especially tasty. Staff are so friendly and helpful. The Engine Room continues to be our favourite place to eat well made pub food.

Excellent night for my mams 60th birthday last night, although we were a big group the service was very good and all food brought out together, portions are large and the food is lovely, no complaints from any of us last night. Would highly recommend this venue to other people.

Went today on the off chance we could get a table, knowing it would be busy. Staff were amazing, we had some drinks while we waited and we got a table really quickly. Food was beautiful. The best beef Sunday dinner I have ever had!
my partner and I went for lunch at the Engine rooms and have to say it was vwry very nice the bar staff were brilliant after ordering drinks we asked if everything on the menu and special boards were available we were told yes and the lady said the portions were very generous. we ordered chilli nachos and king prawns for our starters they were excellent main courses were calfs liver and pork and leek sausages with all the trimmings have to say the food was fab and yes the portions are big. we loved the atmosphere and the prices are very reasonable we will definitely be returning
2nd time there tonight and 2nd time it’s been outstanding food,..good, calm & welcoming atmosphere,...just way too much food for me to handle, gutted I I left some, will define be returning again.
Just called in with my husband and daughter for a Sunday lunch. Absolutely fantastic meal! Beef and lamb were cooked to perfection. My daughter loves sticky toffee pudding and has them everywhere we go - she rated this one as a 10/10 and that is high praise from her!
Also, the fact that this pub still serves full fat Coke is a real plus - I am sick of all of the pubs only serving diet or zero versions as I don't like them and can't drink them! As an adult it is nice to be able to say, yeah, I don't mind paying the extra and having what I like.
The staff were really nice, welcoming, friendly and couldn't be more helpful. We will definitely be coming back here.

Our 4th visit to the Engine Room and it lived up to our very high expectations. The food was fantastic and the service excellent. All of the staff are very friendly, courteous and helpful. They are a credit to their employer and manager. Thank you once again to all at this great establishment.😀
Nice relaxing place. I had for lunch the belly pork with mash potato with black pudding. Accompanied with vegetables.

Food very good. Have had the steak baguette in the past several times, which is such a treat and wd also recommend.
On this occasion, we had the roast beef Sunday lunch £13.95, very tender beef and with a big Yorkshire pudding, lots of vegetables and sauces and an extra gravy jug offered to us. Service was good, didn't wait very long. Nice friendly staff. Families and couples alike, all ages. Also people enjoyed the sunshine with a drink outside too, although it's a car park, there's a nice decking area.
I have to add .. superb sticky toffee pudding, melt in your mouth kind and not a shy portion. Yum 😋 xxx will be back soon for sure.

Unreal food here, every time. We order so often staff have started to call us “garlic man” 🤣. Our favourite is the minted lamb baguette served with hand cut chips which the restaurant serves every Sunday. Unreal food, hearty portion and so tasty, it has you coming back repeatedly… for the garlic too! 🤣

I visited here for the first time today with my mother & uncle for lunch and a catch up.
Before we left the house, my uncle advised to call ahead to make sure there was a table free - luckily the woman who answered the phone reserved a table for us. Which turned out great as not long after our arrival, the place was heaving! It’s obviously VERY popular and I can certainly see why.
There’s parking at the back with plenty of spaces - but be mindful, many guests on our visit clearly didn’t know how to park within the lines, meaning bigger cars struggled to get a space!
The place inside is great - plenty of seats without being overcrowded, along with some lovely little booth seating dotted around. There’s different areas to sit in which breaks it up nicely.
You give your drink and food orders at the bar which can take a little time when it’s busy. Plenty of choice on the drink front.
Due to how busy it was when we arrived, the food itself did seem to take some time to arrive but it was worth the wait. If you’re impatient, then this may frustrate you - so be warned especially if they’re busy.
However - the food itself was great. Just the right size portions - very generous which is a plus. The chips are divine and I would have happily ate a boat load of them.
Highly recommend and will definitely return. I would also recommend booking a table just to be safe, if you’re going at a usually busy time of day!
Been here many times. Always impressed with the choice on both the menu and the specials board. The well stocked bar is one of the few to have Double Maxim (Sunderland Brown Ale) on tap. The car park is large with an attractive seating area for those Sunny days.
Lovely anniversary meal with the girlfriend. The food was very tasty. Definitely recommend it and will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu.
Up from the West Midlands for the weekend came in for Sunday lunch. The lamb roast was brilliant with mashed potatoes and mashed sweeds plus vegetables and mint sauce well done 👏

Internally it's well presented and tastefully decorated. The food is tasty with good portions.
The staff are very friendly and professional. A good range of beers and lagers there was tables available when we arrived but it was getting busy I would advise making a reservation if going during the weekend. Definitely worth a visit

Only draw back was the slippy tiles in both the toilets.it had notices on doors saying this, but a notice on a door does not cure a dangerous surface. I am able-bodied and slipped on it. The floor was not wet. The staff were very forgetful and had to ask them twice about serving our drinks. I wouldn't be put going but look out for the dangerous tiles in the loos

Booked to celebrate my grandsons birthday (at short notice) meal was absolutely delicious, well cooked and well presented… good variety to choose from…. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal (6 of us) … waiting time was minimal and the service from staff was excellent … definitely recommend the engine room ….
Really good restaurant, very generous portions. Staff are really nice and accommodating. Managed to find us a table in the busy lunch service even though we hadn’t booked. Plenty of parking.
Food portions huge, couldn't eat everything, which was shame a it was delicious 😋 this was the lasagne with chips and garlic bread

Awesome service, managed to squeeze us in for a Sunday dinner, went for the beef was cooked perfectly mash was lovely and creamy, swede was perfect, toasties spit on. The only slight critique I would have was Yorkshire pudding was slightly over done but thats me. Thoroughly received mmend it.
Absolutely lovely food, had burger topped with pulled pork from the specials board with hand cut cut chips, it was fantastic and very filling. As it was a special occasion, I opted for a dessert of sticky toffee pudding, again this was lovely, options were custard or ice cream. The pudding itself was extremely light and tasty. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. I would highly recommend eating here as the food is excellent.
