Obviously it was an amazing experience as always, went in to settle my bill from the Friday before, upon entering this fantastic establishment there was an aromour in the air that I couldn't quite put my finger on, the smell of peppers and kidney beans that made the mouth water and the hint of oregano and chilli started getting my tongue excited, my brain saying "no just pay the bill and get out while you still can" my heart and stomach however could not resist the urge to add the chilli rice and chips to the bill before settling, best decision ever, also by the time it came to leaving I noticed the time, to most people it was just 4pm but for myself and anyone else filling a seat at the schooner on that Monday it wasn't just 4pm, it was schooner pizza time, I got the first schooneroni off the line to take away and enjoyed it in the comfort of my own home. The schooner isn't just a great bar in Gateshead, it's a second home and a way of life

Well - after driving past the sign for this pub hundreds of times and thinking 'one day I'll visit there' I actually did it! Armed with my Dad, Son and young granddaughter I ventured across the threshold. What a smashing little boozer. Free WiFi and heavens be praised- no telly or piped music so loud you need sign language to communicate with each other. Canny food menu too. Chewed the cud with Adrian and swapped local memories - Cheers! In the words of Arnie - I'll be back.

Travelled along to the schooner for Monday night pizzas and a few pints. The pizzas are delicious and you can't go wrong with the price. 2 for a tenner. Highly recommended. Will visit again at some point I would imagine.

Staff are polite and professional good choice of drinks and plenty of places to sit indoor and out. We had a lovely meal and the steak was cooked as requested. Excellent value for money. I would highly recommend this place, definitely going back.

This place is a gem. Came here to celebrate my 50th with my Newcastle family. Drinks were flowing, live band and the bar man shared shots with us before he closed. Truly wonderful. Will definitely come again!!

Been meaning to come to this pub for a few years as they do proper ciders. Really glad I’ve finally managed to get here. They have 5 proper ciders on here today. And I tried the fish and chips and omg that was amazing. Friendly welcome, nice pub will definitely be coming back here agan

First time ordering Sunday lunch for delivery, wow!! 2 lamb dinners and 1 pork, huge portions (I probably should have asked if they did a kids one 😂) my daughter was seriously impressed with the Yorkshire pudding. £40 for 3 giant dinners, great quality, and the delivery lady was lovely!! Even in the pouring rain. Thanks guys, we’ll definitely order again xx

We were well looked after here by the lovely Suzy. We sat outdoors by the fire pits and had our tea here in this hidden away pub right by the river. Friendly chilled out crowd on a Thursday night and a feeling of community. It was a really chilly night but the fire pits were well tended. If it's chilly come well wrapped up and early for a spot by the fires. Meals here are lovely and priced between £8-£10. We had a Magpye vegan pie, scampi, burger and pizza all were full of flavour and well presented. Brilliant how most things are available in veggie or vegan options. Our fav though were the perfect spot on traditional chips which are sadly so hard to get in pubs these days. Lovely friendly pub ran by people who care!

Visited Sunday teatime for a few beers and to see a band (KSVT). Cask beer was excellent, band was excellent and atmosphere perfect. Wished we had gone for Sunday lunch too. The food looked and smelt delicious.

First time we have used Sunday lunch delivery service on the recommendation of a friend. Was highly delighted with the service provided from ordering food to delivery - food excellent and piping hot delivered spot on time requested. Absolutely delighted with the whole process and will certainly be a regular customer. Would certainly recommend The Schooner lunch and delivery service.

We went to the schooner tonight to sample some new low calorie dishes that are hoping to make it on to the new menu and they were absolutely delicious. I follow a calorie deficit and always struggle when eating out with my partner who does not follow a diet as limit restaurant offer low calorie option other than salads! Both the beef bourguignon and the Cantonese style chicken curry were delicious, filling and for me completely guilt free, both the chicken and beef had been cooked to perfection and completely melted in your mouth and with the winter coming up I think these would both be a excellent choice for your menu I would 100% be back for more. 10/10
