Joan welcomed us and was very warm and friendly. Helpful in seating us and taking our order. Linda the owner chatted to us as we were about to leave. A very eclectic must visit little tea room! A cornucopia of China and items from many ages.

Great venue and exceptional service. Had a mini breakfast about £3 per toast or tea bread item. Lovely fire in the side room and the sweet shop is a kids or grandparents treat.

Busy spot, considering it was quiet when we Arrived after 2pm, then all of Sudden busy. Either have one person stationed at the kiosk buying sweets nd paying for goods highly recommend. Otherwise was Fun and Quirky with old style memory Sweet Shop, garden potting shed shop and cafe

Cool little place with random stuff on the walls. Went ultra Yorkshire and got the fruit cake with Wensleydale, pot of tea and parkin which were great. Bell to announce customers entrance was a bit much but I'm being picky 👍

A very small shop, beware as it gets busy quickly - it can be over crowded. There's a nice selection of food and drinks, we just had coffee because it was so busy and we had too short of a time constraint to wait, but it was fine. The staff seem friendly and there are loads of sweets and ice cream, which would be great for kids. Hopefully next time I can stay for some food and see how that is. Edit: 25/02/23 We stayed for some food this year! I had a lovely back sandwich and coffee, and bought some sweets. It was lovely. The only problem, again, was how crowded the seating was.

What a find, called in for lunch and a cup of tea and came out with some wonderful old gardening tools and some naughty sweets. Dog friendly and very clean and pleasant. Food was lovely too. Would highly recommend a visit. I will certainly be back. :-)

Quaint café offering very tasty food, excellent coffee and an incredible assortment of ice creams and toffees. Lots of other arty crafty items on sale too; a real Aladdin’s cave of treasures.

What a find! Lovely interesting cafe with things for sale plus a sweet shop. Visited for breakfast on the way to York. We both had All Day breakfast which was lovely and tasty. The menu was varied with a nice things on toast section. Staff friendly and helpful. Well wort a visit.

What a fabulous find. Scrummy cakes served on pretty plates, fascinating vintage decorative items at very reasonable prices, an old fashioned sweet shop, dog friendly and excellent service from welcoming staff. Set in a pretty village beside a stream. What more could you ask for?

Lovely tea shop selling a variety of good food. Shame about the noisy door bell! Lots of other stuff there too.

Lovely quaint tea room. Great, reasonably priced food and drink; pleasant, welcoming staff and lovely traditional atmosphere! Everywhere you look inside is decorated with traditional British memorabilia. A step back in time. Sweet shop has a fantastic selection of sweets and really good value. Couldn’t disagree more with the negative reviews on here.

A lovely little gem of a place right in the heart of this most interesting village. I don't think I ever drank so much tea in one serving and the choice of traditional sweet shop treats was fabulous. The staff were all very pleasant and the cleanliness of the place was faultless. I'll be going back again very soon.

Visited with family just for a snack so can only rate on what we had , sandwiches which were basic. A very interesting quirky place though, full of nostalgia and an old fashioned sweet shop too, hundreds of jars of sweets to choose from and cakes and pastries to take away. Worth a visit if in Gargrave .

The Dalesman, on Gargrave's High Street, is a cafe and sweet shop that enjoys the distinction of being the starting point of a 6.5 mile leg of the Pennine Way in Cicerone's "Pennine Way" guide that crosses the Leeds/Liverpool Canal, climbs over Eshton Moor and ends in Malham. In this respect the cafe is iconic and reviews here and at other sites like Tripadvisor are resoundingly good, with a menu that copes admirably for vegetarians. The Dalesman looks terrific but I suppose commercial exigencies mean that if you want breakfast there on Monday morning before the hop over the Moors to Yorkshire Dales National Park HQ in Malham you won't get any because the cafe appears to be closed on Mondays.

Staff always very friendly and helpful. Lovely gem of a place my Grandad used to bring me here. Like a step back in time. Quirky and beautiful things to purchase. Cake was AMAZING and of course couldn’t help but get some sweets from the old sweet shop on the way out
