I’ve been staying at the Premier Inn at Gargrave for 4 nights, and on my first night I decided to try the Masons Arms in the village for my evening meal. As I walked inside the gentleman behind the bar, presumably the landlord, was very welcoming and helpful. The food I ordered was spot on, I went for the Masons steak and ale pie, very tasty. In fact, I enjoyed it so much I have been coming back to this pub for my dinner every night this week! If you find a great place to eat, why bother going elsewhere?! The food has been good each night I’ve been here. Over the different nights I’ve tried the lasagne, chicken mushroom and tarragon pie, and the luxury cottage pie, all very good indeed. Good value too at under £10 for each of those meals. The pub itself seems like a really great local. Several of the local regulars said hello to me even just on my second night, so it’s a very friendly place too. I wouldn’t hesitate to return to the Masons Arms.
Very busy when we went for a meal on a Sunday evening but we had pre booked our table so were seated straight away. The landlord and staff were very welcoming. Menu was very varied and everything coming from the kitchen looked delicious. We enjoyed our meal and good portion size too. Very relaxed pub which is just what we wanted. Enjoyed the evening very much.
Been to the Masons arms twice now and both times the food, service, beer and the lovely wood fire has been absolutely perfect.
Highly recommend!
The food was excellent as was the customer service. They couldn’t have been more welcoming. I can’t recommend the Belly pork enough it was abfab.
Belly pork to die for excellent food thanks John and Nicola and of course George the chef 11/10
We are on our holidays from Suffolk and called in on our third night in Yorkshire on the off chance for some tea. The pub was obviously very popular and therefore busy which made for a great atmosphere. We were made to feel very welcome and every effort was made by the staff to get us fed, even though they looked to be fully booked. The food was lovely, proper pub food and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thank you for being so hospitable when we hadn't made a reservation beforehand. Also thank you to the lovely family that were having a birthday celebration in the pub that night who were really welcoming and also very kindly gave us a slice of birthday cake each. All in all a great evening out was had.
Fab pub meal..open fire..friendly staff..and dog friendly...couldnt fault it ..highly recommended..

Food was perfect in every way, varied menu, homely fresh food, warning and filling generous portions and a very accommodating Pub Landlord fulfilling all the kids' requests, all in a traditional Yorkshire pub - as it should be!!!
Lovely local Yorkshire pub, fantastic service and very welcoming. Especially Geoff the dog 🐕 if you're ever lucky enough to meet him. Lovely homemade comfort pub food. Would recommend if you have a dog.
Absolutely superb food and a wonderfully warm welcome. We booked for a large party, including dogs and kids. Quality of food (Inc
Sunday roasts) was superb. I wouldn't usually leave a review, but definitely worth it for this one.
Three of us had excellent meals in the busy lively bar area.
The bar area of the pub has an open fire and is very dog friendly.
There is a good range of well kept real ales with the normal array of lagers etc
Warm Yorkshire welcome, lovely pint of beer and great food. Delicious Game Pie was a treat and the haddock and chips was very tasty. Thoroughly recommend lunch here.
My family & I went for Sunday lunch and it was fantastic. The food was out of this world and the portion sizes were huge. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We have been going to this pub restaurant on & off for 10yrs now and when we are nearby always call in.
One tip is to get the cheesy chips as they are amazing.
My partner and I went for an evening meal. All the food was home made and piping hot. We both had steak and tetley ale pie, mine with chips and mash for the boss. We were very impressed and agreed they were the best we had had for many a year. Well done Mason Arms, fantastic food thank you 😊
Nice relaxed atmosphere.
I'm from Somerset. When I walked into the bar, there was Thatchers Cider , I knew then there was a god.
People are friendly but then again you're in Yorkshire so it isn't a surprise.
Nice seating outside and on a hot day a nice cold pint of cider and it's perfect.
The best pub grub we have ever had, nice staff. Amazing chocolate brownie. And dog friendly too 😊
1st time I've been here absolutely great, good bar area dart board, bowling green (not in use at the moment January),locals seem friendly. Would recommend this place to anyone. B and B aswell.
Called tonight, the beer was spot on, the food was plentiful and cooked to perfection. Definitely will be returning.
Lovely food. Friendly staff. Nice pub .will be back
Superb pub just in the middle of Gargrave. Fabulous food and great friendly atmosphere. Very dog friendly too. Highly recommend
First time here. Reminded me of a proper olden days pub.
Warm friendly
Definitely recommend this place
Thank you!
Popped in with a friend . Had a philly steak sandwich which was delicious and filling. Great value. Would definately go there again . Didn't stay there.
Great lunchtime pint (or two) and a hearty sandwich. Staff pleasant, looking forward to another visit.
Enjoyed Sunday Lunch here today (5.11.23 /12:00) in this classic pub. As noted by others, it has a cosy feel, which we enjoyed, as compared to ultra modern or fake classic.
The pub is divided into 2 areas: "dogs allowed" and "no dogs". We were in the "dogs allowed" area and enjoyed seeing the various dogs (we used to have one).
We had reserved a table the day before (by telephone - friendly lady!) and I would highly recommend anyone else to do so, as virtually all the tables had "Reserved" signs on them (This, of course, may only be the case on Sundays). Some even had 2 reservations (as ours 12:00 and 15:00). And obviously, you may prefer to sit in the "no dogs" part of the pub and book accordingly.
Food was in generous portions and very good value for money. We (2 persons) chose the Beef Roast and the Pork Roast (£15 each) We had one (generous) portion of Sticky Toffee Pudding with sauce and ice-cream (£6) and a tea to follow.
Toilets were very clean (Finally a pub, where you can really smell the disinfectant!)
Friendly staff - the manageress is obviously a friend of dogs - There were water bowls and a jar of doggy treats on the mantelpiece. She said hello to all the dogs and Yes, she does also say hello to the guests ;-)
Regretably, I read a couple of negative reviews on Google about a drunken manager, by a (I think) couple staying overnight. Is there someone else in the hotel? Or what happened?
We personally, were fully satisfied with our meal and have already recommended the pub to friends & family for Sunday Lunches!
It was also nice to see that the dogs were extremely well-behaved, which, as I think we all know, is down to their owners.
Lovely food, friendly and helpful staff.
Would recommend for food and drink.
