Lovely food. Definitely recommend the gammon. Friendly staff and cosy atmosphere. Keep doing what you are doing! Gammon needs including on your "recommend" list
Incredible memories of eating here as a student and 8 years on the place is still performing so so well meeting my rose tinted expectations (in fact in many ways beating them)
The Godfather burger remains an unbelievably enjoyable experience. Such great value. Really juicy and succulent beef patties with thick (and I mean thick) cut bacon and what feels like inches of melted cheese. The fries are crispy on the outside and soft in the middle (personally still prefer the thick cut chips which my partner had with her lasagna though)
Service is great and they have a good and robust system for covid. Overall a fantastic meal out.
Good pub not far off the motorway, so easy to have a break from driving, grab a meal and a drink and get back on the motorway to continue your journey refreshed. Good choice of food and well cooked without too much of a wait. Was quiet when we went in so enjoyed our meal in peace.
Came here on route to Scotland from Wales for a breather. It didn't disappoint. Lovely food, great prices and wonderful staff. Wish we lived nearer to come here all the time.
Came for dinner today to the Plough and from start to finish it was excellent.
We were 2 adults and two babies wanting lunch. We were greeted by Jackie and offered a seat with loads of space for the 2 prams. We were offered a highchair immediately which was sturdy, clean and had secure straps to keep my little girl in ( doesn't seem much to ask for but I have been no where that's had the 3 things above so big major tick for this)
You go to the bar to order and it was Shirley who served us. I'd mentioned I was going to have a pudding, and they let's us have a tab, this was perfect as it meant we could also add more drinks to the tab. Just overall more convenient to do it this way.
We got there ar 12.10pm and there was a few tables full already and throughout the hours we were there it filled up inside as well as outside.
The menu has a tasty choice of starters, light bites, mains, sandwiches, sharers and puddings and there was NOT ONE THING I didn't want to try! And it made it harder to choose as we kept seeing all the mouthwatering food coming from the kitchen. Because we were wanting to try a few things we picked 2 starters, a light bite mean and 2 puddings (attached the pictures) and every bite was amazing!! The mucky fries with chicken spring onion and truffle mayo was just incredible. I think they are going to be a regular choice for me.
We were sat for over 3 hours and all the time we were there Jackie and Shirley interacted with my daughter 21mths and my niece 6mths as well as having a good chat with us.
The pub itself was very clean and the refurb has been done very well. A great atmosphere with nice background music.
Possibly my best experience locally with atmosphere, customer service, and food. I have already planned to go back next weekend and this is absolutely going to be a regular dining place for us.
I was apprehensive as I did love the Plough previously and must have been over 50times with the old owners so if I was truthful was unsure what to expect but honestly, Jackie and Chris are doing an excellent job and the food is incredible. Make sure you do go in and support them.
Now under new management. The food was fantastic and the staff were lovely. In their short stewardship they've already planned and funded a community vegetable garden on the pub land which I think is commendable for community cohesion and much needed low-cost food provision to those willing to participate... Excellent!
Happened upon this beautifully decorated pub in Ellel as we were driving from Lancaster and decided to stop for lunch....the barman was very welcoming and we were seated immediately. The menu was a great selection of English food, which was lovely. We enjoyed our mains and our puddings, but the latter didn't really stand up to muster. The crumble top was hard and chewy and the cherry sundae was just a lot of ice cream with 5 tinned cherries....need to step up here!
However, the atmosphere was great, the waitresses did try hard, but need to relax a bit more (young, and possibly new?), it was a lovely setting and I well kept pub....on for us to remember!
Cosy, friendly pub with a good menu and delicious fare - nicely presented. Just off M6 (take A6 to Lancaster.) All the more welcome after being stuck in a long traffic jam!! 👍👏
Absolutely excellent food, atmosphere and service, staff go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome. I will definitely be visiting again very soon and I highly recommend the plough.
Lovely food and great service. The kids loved the little colouring in bags too, really cute touch. Thank you.
Lovely couple who own and run the pub.
Food was delicious.
Lots of help on finding our way back to our motel
Visited Saturday afternoon. Staff were very professional and efficient.
Food and booze was excellent for the money paid!
Paid a visit to the pub that introduced me to real ale. I found their Boddingtons was much better tasting than the Scotch Bitter or Double Diamond at the time. Todays Timothy Taylor Landlord was really good.
Food excellent as ever and the staff are really friendly and helpful, lovely beer garden as well when the weather is good.
Highly recommend.
Fantastic!
Amazing food and staff were brilliant
The Mixed grill Sword is incredible.
Dog friendly which is a huge bonus
Would highly recommend a visit.
