Popped in today with my lovely wife for lunch. Friendly landlord and staff, great decor and extensive menu. Giant portions: go hungry, you won’t leave that way

We had Sunday lunch. Quality produce cooked wonderfully. Couldn't finish it but thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were lovely and an added bonus of knowing they do take away. Thank you for making my treat to my other half fantastic

Attended wedding locally. Found all staff very welcoming and friendly. Even more than happy to accommodate us with a later checking so we could arrive at the church on time, even called a taxi service on our behalf. Room very clean with tea/coffee making facilities, TV and a fan. Shower room clean with fresh towels. Breakfast was continental with a choice of a cooked breakfast, that we opted for. Plenty on offer and the cooked breakfast was lovely. Staff even asked us if we enjoyed the wedding. Would definitely stay again and we plan to go back and have lunch/dinner soon.

Rally nice hotel and staff, but we got a cab back there from a wedding venue and left some expensive stuff in the cab, which they denied. Won't use that thieving cab company again. Please pass this onto them as they are the cab firm that seems to do a lot of work from your hotel.

Fathers Day treat...and the food was incredible and the service was brilliant. Such a lovely, clean and obviously well looked after pub. Would recommend this pub as a must try experience.

Lovely meal, huge portions! Nothing vegan on the menu so I asked and the chef did a mezze plate which was huge, great selection and delicious

Not bad in fairness, we stayed for a wedding. Ample free parking and reasonably priced for the area. Breakfast was decent and a good pub attached with a nice selection of beers and food options. All of the accommodation is ground floor so easy access too.

Stubbled upon this pub whilst on a sunday drive with my fiancee. What a wonderful place, roast dinner was scrumptious with plenty of meat, vegetables, potatoes and lots of gravy. Wanted to try the desserts but had no room left. Very friendly staff and owner. We would definitely recommend.

This pub was on my list of places to visit for a Sunday lunch and it was well worth it the 40 mins drive from Woodford. The pub itself is from around 1400 I believe and has a lot of original features which is beautiful to see like fireplace and wooden supporting beams. Service was great from booking to being seated and waiting staff. Love that the menu Is written on the chalkboard and there was a wide selection of roasts; beef, lamb, pork, chicken and nut roast for vegetarians. I went for the large mixed plate and it was really big - but overall portion sizes are great anyway. Comes with all the trimmings which were all at a good standard. Only one point was that there were no craft beers available, except for green king IPA ale which wasn't very good. I would recommend a few craft beer cans in the fridge as a test to see if people go for it. Overall really very good 5*

Amazing Sunday roast beef lunch experience! Classic and cozy old pub feel with excellent cuisine 😋 Highly recommend a visit. Do make sure you book in advance as it always seems to be fully booked, very popular for Sunday lunch! Recommend the cauliflower cheese and broccoli too. Apple crumble for dessert was great too (Pictured: Roast beef. Apple crumble)
