Excellent pub / restaurant. A great varied menu with veg and vegan options, surprisingly private table layout and a very extensive beer selection.
Typical "Near London" pricing, but the food quality and taste was great.
Happily becoming the new ‘local’, James has made visiting a regular treat. I may be biased as he ensures I always have a Tommy’s Margarita in hand.
During this particular dinner visit we munched on:
•Crispy calamari with saffron aioli.
•Halloumi fries with chipotle chilli jam.
•Beer-battered Atlantic haddock & triple-cooked chips with minted peas & tartare sauce.
•8oz Steak with triple-cooked chips, watercress & peppercorn sauce.
I have been coming to the rose for years with my family multiple times a week and look forward to coming every single time! Atmosphere on band nights is unbeatable! The food is immaculate… literally mouth watering. Also, the shake up summer cocktails of the week are the best cocktails I’ve had recently!! The staff are amazing, seeing Cara , Hannah and Beth always makes me smile :)
I've found a new favourite spot for the post ride beers and food. I enjoyed the fish n chips, whilst friends smashed into the steak. If you do ride around the nearby trails, then add here to your list of places to stop for the post ride banter.
From the moment we entered The Rose & Thistle as a party of four, to leaving well over two hours later, we were looked after by Nichola, who was so caring, and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. Very good selection of beers on tap, and the food was so tasty. We had 3x fish, chips and mushy peas, and 1x duck salad. The desserts were also top notch. Well worth the money. Thank you, Nichola, for making our visit on 10/7/23 so enjoyable.
All staff here are fantastic, Hanna, Cara, fill, and Paige, they are the heart of the pub, they are what make this place special, of course everything else is a bonus, the food is great and always filling. I would recommend people to come here as often as they can, everyday seems different here.
This pub is brilliant. Good variety of drinks available. Great atmosphere and live music on fridays is always fun. Servers are friendly and helpful. Especially Nic. They are very kind and attentive. Planning on going back many more times
You always have a good time at the R&T. It's such a friendly and lively pub. There's always good entertainment and the pub is big and contemporary, with the food to match.
Delightful friendly pub with a lovely outside seating area, tasty quick served food Hannah took my order and some how up sold me from a half pint to a pint and a sandwich (which was sorely needed) amazing space love area highly recommend.
Came for lunch with my son today and had the boss burger and omg it was lush. Great customer service from hannah and food from Tom was lush. definitely be back
This is one of the nicest pubs I've been to, the atmosphere is really comfy and nice - always enjoy coming here and hanging out to relax. Cara and Nic are always great at serving ☺️
Friendly pub. Plenty of seating in and out. Parking was free.

We were the only people in there the whole visit.
We ordered drinks and food. Drinks arrived quickly. But pints were finished before food arrived.
It was piping hot and very tasty.
Overall a good couple of hours catching up
The Rose and Thistle is a great local pub to attend with friends, families and colleagues. The staff are absolutely fantastic and I must mention both Cara and Els, they both always have a smile on her face when they greets us and are kind and attentive upon our visits!
I highly recommend a visit!!

Visited this pub last week for the first time and the food was 10/10. I was warmly welcomed by Els who provided the best customer service through out the evening. I will definitely be coming back here again.
