Stayed in Fowey and came here a number of times. Warm and welcoming staff. Sunday lunch was massive and tasty no room for dessert. Food was tasty and it had a lovely atmosphere. I would recommend a visit if in Fowey.
Can't recommend this place enough - we had a lovely evening , food was amazing and ALL the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful . Couldn't of asked for more . Thanks guys we will be back ..
Had a fantastic one night stay here , room was lovely .very attentive man showed us to our room and booked us a lovely table for a meal in eve. My husband has said the mussels were the best he's had.Breakfast was equally as delicious. Would definitely recommend.
Popped in on the off chance, Saturday night, 8:30, height of the season.
Had to wait less than 10 minutes for a table, but enjoyed a drink whilst waiting.
Mussels, steak, burger and Hake, all cooked and presented perfectly.
Service was fabulous.
Even the dog was welcome in the restaurant, pleasant surprise.
Will definitely recommend and return or another meal!!!
Second time we've been there . I need gluten free food and have not been disappointed . Fish and chips last time dressed crab this time . Absolutely lovely . Beautiful views and staff were so friendly. Recommend it .
On holiday. In Fowey on a stormy/wet weekend. Went to Haverners for a rest. Had a labradorite with us who was given a big welcome. Ordered 4 x cream teas. Superb scones with loads of clotted ream and jam. Came with Cornish grown tea- proper leaves! Waitress was really helpful when giving directions for local shop and also told us about great local butcher/deli where we could buy the scones we'd had for our team! Can't recommend enough. Superb!
A group of 13 of us had our end of season dinner here. The food was from the Christmas menu and was superb. Everyone said how good it was. To match the food was the service. Nothing was too much for any of the staff.
Definitely recommend it. Five stars all day long.
So glad we found this lovely restaurant on the quay. The guy who served us was a master of hospitality and made us feel so welcome, as did all the staff. We had a table inside because the weather was damp and windy, but can imagine the outside tables are super on a sunny day.
We had crab salads - they were so delicious and prepared with care. The ambience was relaxed and we didn't feel hurried. Added to which our table looked out over the quay - bliss!
Would recommend without hesitation and visit again when in Fowey. Many thanks.
We were in Fowey for a day trip from our holiday base in Looe and needed lunch. Well we definitely stopped at the right place! Very busy but we were found a table for two outside in the lovely weather. I had a 6oz burger, wife had soup of the day. The food was excellent, service was excellent too. Highly recommended.
Nice meal last night, my wife had Sea bass which she said was cooked perfectly, I had Chicken and leek pie ( not a scrap of leek in it btw) which was tasty albeit without a sauce or gravy was quite dry. What made the evening particularly pleasant was the superb service from the girl who looked after our table, I think her name was Julianna or Julietta. Very pleasant and attentive, nothing was too much trouble for either of us and she made our dog very welcome too. Excellent service thanks 👌👏
Excellent room to stay in, a little on the small side, but very boutique. Food was first class. All the Girls and Boys who looked after us were the best possible. Very friendly. and extremely helpful. 10/10
My mum and I ate here on Saturday evening and we want to give the head chef and the waiter who served us a massive and very well deserved shout out. They were so accommodating, sat us in the back with a wonderful view and generally went the extra mile to make our visit a memorable one for the right reasons. Food was delicious, decent wait time, decent price and delicious flavours. Thank you so very much. Would come back again for sure
We stayed in Fowey for 2 weeks in September and had dinner at Haveners 4 times. We just loved our time there. The food is always fresh, hot and beautifully presented. Steaks always cooked to perfection. Fish is the best we have ever eaten and the sharing camembert was to die for. As previous reviewers say it's the lovely staff that make the whole experience just great. Always friendly, welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. We are staying in Fowey again for Christmas and although we were too late to book for Christmas day we are booked in for Christmas Eve and Boxing Day!!! Cant wait. Thanks to all.
Personally I’m not the biggest fish & chips fan, but when at the seaside! That being said, this was the most delicious plate of fish & chips I’ve had the pleasure of eating. The batter on the hake was super crispy as were the chips. The tartar sauce was a delightful accompaniment. We had the salt & pepper squid to start and thoroughly enjoyed. It’s a bit on the pricier side as most places in Fowey, but the quality and service back it up!
We were really pleasantly surprised by our visit at Havener’s. We were a little late for our reservation but, luckily, our table was still there. The quality of the food was very good. I can especially recommend the miso aubergine. Plenty of choice for vegetarians and vegan. Great atmosphere and service. Highly recommended.
Wonderful food, good sized portions, fantastic views ans brilliant service. The staff made it a great birthday experience for my wife and there was a decent range of veggie options for me.
Even though it was really busy as we got there bang on lunchtime with no reservation and the sun shining, all the staff were really friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and the views stunning. We will definitely return.
We really enjoyed our meal at Haveners. The Fowey mussels were plump and delicious. The fish and chips was perfectly cooked. Recommend the truffle chips which were delicious!
I visited Havener's restaurant on Monday 14th August 2023. I originally called on the same day I ate at the restaurant, which was surprising as other restaurants were fully booked. When I first arrived with my family at the restaurant, the outdoor decorations were wonderful, and the location was outstanding because it was near the sea, which had made the restaurant's view even more great. When me and my family had first entered, we were welcomed with a smile, and the staff was very polite and had a welcoming manner. The service was quick as when we entered was first offered a table and had been offered drinks which we ordered. The menu was shortly given, after which me and my family had ordered starters and mains from. Very shortly after we received our starters, which tasted absolutely delicious, the calamari tasted splendid, and I personally ordered mussels, which had a delicious garlic taste and the portion was fantastic for starters, we also ordered padron peppers which was tasty and had a lovely salty taste. My family and I then ordered main courses, which I ordered a burger, the burger was tasty and had a lovely sauce and was given a generous amount of chips. Overall, I couldn't be more happy with the service we received and would happily recommend the restaurant to anyone.
Had a lovely meal, Service was amazing very friendly staff! Food was fantastic with an excellent view over the river. Very happy would definitely recommend
We had such a lovely meal at Haveners! We prebooked a table & the staff were super helpful on the phone. When we arrived the menu was slightly different to the website but the staff were friendly, knowledgable & so helpful. They worked with the chef to cater for our dietary requirements perfectly with no fuss & the food was so delicious!
They were also amazing with our dog, there’s even a dog bar with water bowls and biscuits! A huge thank you to our amazing waitress Laura for all her help making our visit so special.
Great location, beautiful plates and cups, food very good, coronation chicken naan was great just needed a little more depth of flavour maybe a few currants but it was delicious either way I just see that as personal taste.
Very well done!! From a fellow Chef.
We visited Fowey for the first time on Thursday. It was very much a spur of the moment decision after we were unable to find a place to park in Lostwithiel. We chose Havener's for lunch as it looked clean and tidy and is in a great location. We were certainly not disappointed. We didn't have to queue for many minutes and were asked where we'd like to sit. We asked for inside and had fully expected a 'table for 2 in the corner' as we hadn't pre-booked. We couldn't have been more wrong. We were shown to a table that could sit 4 in the window overlooking the harbour, absolutely perfect!
The menu choice was excellent, prices were very reasonable and the portions generous. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the pace of service was just right.
We look forward to visiting again next time we are in the area.
