Favourite place - the staff are always lovely and the owner always goes that little bit extra. Been often and never disappointed. Sticky Chilli Chucken is my usual. But I have tried many dishes and they're great. Overnight stays and breakfast are top class too!

Went today for lunch with my husband and it was top notch.. Again... Have eaten in a lot of places in the area and this place would be hard to beat...great quality for the price and great service too.. Hubby had scampi which i tasted and it was delicious.. He said it was the best he ever tasted.. I had the 12 hour roast belly pork which is a favourite of mine...Again delicious and beautifully presented.. The chef really knows what hes doing. Having a sweet tooth i finished with the baked toffee and homemade honeycomb cheesecake and it was wonderful. Keep up the good work

Great evening as expected with great food for all including two children. Nice friendly service, not rushed but quick enough to keep the children happy. Good menu selection and sensible children's portions.

Had an evening meal there last night, party of 5 plus a baby. Staff couldn't have been more welcoming, the food was fantastic and the place has a cosy feel. I'd definitely recommend and look forward to returning soon.

Absolutely perfect for a break away. The room was spotlessly clean, the bed superbly comfortable, the restaurant amazing, the breakfasts likewise and the owners and staff as genuinely friendly and helpful as it gets. There really aren't any more superlatives to describe the Old Mill Hotel.

Excellent food, welcoming staff, this place is a little gem. Although the room was a little small it was clean and welcoming. The breakfast was fantastic, could not fault it. The photos on the website do not do the restaurant justice. Would I eat here again, I most definitely would. 👏

Excellent! My wife and I live locally and decided to give this restaurant a try. Every aspect of the dining experience was superb and felt to me like eating in a restaurant in Munich. We were greeted in a very friendly and warm manner, and directed to a carefully chosen table in keeping with a request made on the reservation. Immaculate, clean tables, cutlery and dishes. Pleasant décor, albeit slightly tired looking, and a refreshing attention to detail. Menu well presented with a good degree of variety. Food terrific. Service attentive and friendly. Staff appeared professional and very motivated. This restaurant makes for a very refreshing and welcome change. I have two theories as to why this restaurant is not better known. Firstly, the Google Maps pin is in the wrong location. Secondly, there are enormous conifers that obstruct the view from the road, which could be cut down. After all, the building is beautiful. Regardless, my wife and I will be returning very soon and passing on our experience to our friends. Things move slowly in this part of the country, and providing such a commitment to excellence is maintained, more and more customers will gravitate to this restaurant. I see from other reviews that we are not alone in our findings.

We had a nice dinner at Hearth. This certainly because the staff was very lovely and we felt very welcome from the beginning. The food was solid as well even though it had some minor shortcomings. The signature dish, the venison, was rather bland and would probably be best served whole rather than tagliata style (sliced). It would stay warmer like this and not come across dry. The fries for the burger were really muddy. I guess the kitchen uses firm cooking potatoes which should not be the case. The old fashioned as a digestif was presented very well but unfortunately was super sweet and sirupy. All in a all a nice place with some slight air to improve.

Dining at Hearth is a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and restaurant charming. Amazing food EVERY TIME and fantastic service. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations (especially with my gluten intolerance!). Chef is clearly on top of his game with an ever changing, and always impressive, seasonal menu. A bold claim, but for me the best food experience I’ve had in Scotland… we’ve booked our next visit already 😉

I had rather high expectations before dining here, I was not disappointed. We had travelled up from Kent recently to visit family and my brother and sister-in-law recommended we dine here, having found it a year or so ago and simply love it. The owners were so welcoming and had clearly taken great care when considering my dietary restrictions (being gluten and dairy intolerant can sometimes be a bit of a nightmare when eating out even when staff are aware in advance). I was encouraged to leave my meal choice in their hands, also aware of my love of fish. It's a bit of a risk doing something like this, but I felt completely at ease. My starter of trout was exceptional in every way, it was delicious (my husband isn't a great fan of fish unless it's in batter, but he sampled it and was surprised how nice it tasted). My main course of salmon was equally delicious and melted in my mouth.......I understand the sauce was made with dairy free cheese which was so flavour-some that I long to recreate when home. I don't generally indulge in desserts, but I was encouraged to try a little deep fried banana in batter served with a salted caramel sauce and ice cream (both gluten and dairy free), which was to die for 🤣. Everthing has such a personal touch, thank you so much....My husband was equally impressed with his food choices from the menus; the menus did look incredible, so much choice. I would certainly recommend dinning here whatever your dietary needs, although good to inform the chef in advance if you do have any dietay restriction so he can plan ahead and even surprise you. We wish we had a restaurant equal to this back home. We plan to return here on our next visit north. A heartfelt thanks to the owners, the friendly waitresses and the chef. Liz

Came to the Old Mill Inn with my Mum and family for Mother’s Day evening meal. Wow the place looks stunning and very comfortable. Staff were great, attentive and food served at good times while we enjoyed our drinks. I had the haggis Bon Bons which were super tasty and filling. Followed by the Highland Beef brisket roast - wow! Great serving and everyone tasted fresh and the Beef was so tender. My group all enjoyed our food and experience here. Fantastic location and great hosts!

We stayed here for 3 nights and the only thing we would change is staying longer. The accommodation is spotless and comfortable. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing at all was a problem. The breakfasts were delicious and abundant. We can't wait to go back!

Wonderful! The staff were lovely ( and also very supportive towards each other - the new member of staff was so well 'mentored' by the others it was lovely to see her grow in confidence just through the course of the evening). The food was delicious. Knowing that what was beautifully presented to us was sourced locally and cooked by people who clearly have a passion for making something special for others to enjoy made it even better. It was a little above average pricewise but when something is way above average quality wise I would say it was totally worth it. We will certainly be back and will pass on our recommendations. 🤗

Beautiful restaurant with a wonderful choice of traditionally Scottish dishes (and non) with an interesting twist. We had a great anniversary dinner there and they were kind enough to gift us some limoncello for the occasion. Possibly portions are slightly too much on the larger side as we had to share dessert, but everything was delicious. I'm sure we'll be back!

This is a beautiful old building with quirky little eating areas in the restaurant. The food is exceptional and beautifully presented. The staff were professional, efficient and friendly. Although above average price, the meal was more than worth it due to the superb quality ingredients and the 3 courses being faultless. Loved the coffee too. Well done to the owners, Sophie and her husband, keep it up ! My sister and I are definately planning a return visit around November. A must visit for those who enjoy excellent dining
