Lovely setting. The staff were friendly & helpful. We couldn't fault our meals. I had the roast beef dinner. Plenty of roast beef & a large, melt in your mouth yorkshire pud. My husband had sea bass which he said was one of the nicest meals he's tasted

As an anniversary treat Red and I popped up to the Sparrowhawk, somewhere we hadn't been before, for a celebratory early morning brunch. The two lads, Fidget and Shy, in tow as well. It was very early so nobody around and we were warmly greeted and seated on entry. Drinks of coffee, tea and orange juice ordered we perused the brunch menu. This place isn't the cheapest but you are paying for the lovely location. The dining rooms themselves, as it sprawls through a large house and annexes, are well decorated with 'old' paintings and prints and there is also an extensive outside seating area.

We waited unduly for someone to take our order, a simple slip but not great when we were the only people in the place. Besides that, however, the service was good. I chose the sausage sandwich, Red the bacon sandwich and the boys went for the pancakes, bacon and blueberries. Sadly they had no blueberries.

The food arrived quickly and was very good. Both sandwiches were on toasted brioche buns, the sausages were from Buttercross Farm and very good. The bacon was well cooked and crispy and the pancakes, small but light and fluffy.
Coffee was very good in a cafetiere with timer, tea came in a china teapot and the orange juice was freshly squeezed.  £29 all in it is a bit expensive but very enjoyable. They also have a great collection of real ales but 9.30am Sunday morning isn't really the time!

Lovely country pub with great food and a good selection of cask ales. The staff were really friendly. Could do with some craft beers on keg too but that's a very minor observation just for my taste

Excellent experience. Came back for second night in a row. High quality pub food. Lovely atmosphere and very good friendly service. Lots of parking and much better food, experience/service and quality than posh golf hotel around the corner...

We were staying close by for a few days and The sparrowhawk was recommended by one of the locals. We booked dinner on the Saturday evening and were so glad that we did. I rarely eat out and leave feeling that I've received exceptional value but the sparrowhawk certainly did this. The food (cauliflower fritters followed by feathered beef and a raspberry tart) was exceptional, the portions a good size. Despite it being very busy (150 can be seated at any one time) the service was warm, helpful and efficient(without being overly so). The local beer we had before the meal was also a top pint! While not the cheapest, it certainly wasn't expensive for the quality and was great value. It was clear why it was so busy and I highly recommend a meal here. PS I don't know why the beef was listed on the menu as "feathered" but it was melt in the mouth delicious!

Really caring staff who came to our aid after getting a puncture on the way there. A member of staff helped organise a mobile tyre fitting service. Food excellent, service brilliant in a lovely setting. Made a family meal memorable.

Food quality is great. This place deserves the rating it has. Staff are attentive but not overbearing. Brought my 92 year old Nan and she can’t stop raving about the food.

Even though I wasn’t as excited with the food (steak burger and roast were good but not unforgettable) as I was with the ambiance, the Sparrowhawk deserves all 5 stars for the pleasant environment, the attentive service, the decoration and the overall British countryside allure and this warm fuzzy feeling I felt dining here. Chocolate brownie was fantastic too.

We enjoyed a fantastic dinner as a large group during the Open week. The pub is set in beautiful grounds with delicious food to match. Karen and Lucas couldn’t have been more lovely & attentive to our party and took the time to tell our American clients about the history of the building. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back!

We had a spot of lunch at the Sparrowhawk on a gloriously sunny Sunday. We cycled from Southport and sat down to a selection of tasty starters and a couple of pints. Service was great. The outdoor space is delightful for a leisurely lunch. The courgette and coconut vegan feta was a highlight - so much so we asked the staff for where to buy the tasty vegan cheese!

Had a great evening out with friends, ordered food and unfortunately had to wait a long time for it which was really annoying, upon arrival food was excellent. Pudding was great .waited a long time for our drinks order, could probably do with a few more staff

Turned up on spec no reservation, on Sunday afternoon it was very busy. We were greeted right away and shown to an table 👍 Service was quick and friendly even though they were very busy. We ordered a few starters each as we didn't want a full roast dinner. Everything was tasty. Great visit very enjoyable and a lovely setting and interiors, we will be back 😁

We have always had a very good experience. Recently have taken an older relation with poor hearing, the staff have always manage to find us a quiet table, granted weekends are always busy but they do their best to oblige. It's always a treat

Beautiful pub with excellent parking and outdoor seating. I went there after spending a couple of hours in Ainsdale beach and the location is excellent for that. The rump steak sandwich was magnificent, probably the best steak sandwich I've had this side of the Atlantic. The chips were also spot on and the price was very reasonable (17.55 for the sandwich and a pint of Coke).
