Just had the best pub meal in ages. Gammon was lovely, glad I opted for the small portion as didn't quite manage all of that ! Other half had a full rack of ribs and to say it was a massive portion would be an understatement! Top that off with a lovely friendly welcome and great service and it's definitely a 5 star experience and the donkey that didn't want us to leave was a chuckle on the way out

Pasted the pub on a few occasions when driving through the New Forest so this time thought we would drop in for a bite to eat, we stopped off at a busy time of the day so wasn't expecting food in 5 minutes. I can say that I had one of the best pub lunches I have had in years. Great food, great beers and wonderful staff. Will defenatly be popping in again to enjoy the atmosphere and food soon.

Not local to the area, we stopped at The Fighting Cocks Pub at Fordingbridge for an anniversary meal while the in-laws looked after the kids and we had a lovely meal! A nice, welcoming pub with plenty of character and friendly staff. There were so many yummy things to choose from it was hard to decide, but our lamb shanks were delicious! Would revisit if in the area again.

I used to go here as a kid, so popped in to reminisce The food was great, with the sausages and burgers made on the premises, and all food cooked to order. We had the 1/2 lb burger and it was amazing , great choice of topping and a substantial plate full, would definitely eat here again thank you

Steak night on Thursday's is excellent value for money once again the food was brilliant & the special board was very tempting with to much to choose from. We have been visiting the New Forest for 15 years now & would honestly say that this pub is a must see attraction. Never had a bad experience in all the years we have ate here at all different times of the year it is always a place I would revisit & recommend to others.

Under new management we thought we'd pop in to see what changes had been made. The team were very friendly and hospitable. Unfortunately for us our favourite cornish beer and cider are no longer on draught (one of the main reasons we personally liked picking this venue.) With that being said they still had a great range of drinks to choose from. Opted for a light bite style lunch, my friend had nachos and I chose the bacon brie baguette. The nachos were big enough for a main course or a snack sharer and the cheese had been layered through the dish. Exactly what you want rather than a bowl of crisps with cheese on top. The bacon brie baguette came out and was more than enough to satiate my hunger. I'll definitely still visit the Fighting cocks, unfortunately maybe not as frequently (because of the rattler.) A definite place to go if you're local/in the area though.

An amazing location for a pub and sits just before the end of the main road through the forest. Note that animal do roam around the car park. Great drink and food options too, even if you’re travelling past. Food and an alcoholic drink was around £15 each

Lovely traditional pub in a fantastic location (right next to the New Forest). The staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Not only do they have a broad range on the menu, but the food itself is very tasty and great value for money. They're also very dog friendly!

A wonderful pub located on the edge of the New Forest NP where you'll see an abundance of wild horses and wildlife whilst you sit and enjoy a meal or a drink. Dinner of beef and ale pie, a Tomahawk steak was delicious. Friendly staff and warm atmosphere.

It has changed hands since the last time we visited. The menu was unique and inclusive, staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our four legged furry friends were also made to feel very welcome. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food choices and will be back again soon to try out some more of the menu.

What a little gem of a pub, don’t be put off by the smell of the local donkeys, we had an amazing meal outside in the sunshine, the steak pie was packed with meat and burger was delicious too, lovely staff .. entertained by the donkeys just mooching into the road and making the cars wait till they were ready to move

We were staying at sand balls with a group of friends and decided to book lunch. The staff were lovely and left a birthday card on the table and put up a banner. It was my 40th and such a lovely touch. The food was brilliant and service was incredible, keeping us topped up with wine! Would definitely recommend!

Possibly the best steak pie iv ever had, portion sizes were amazing and very filling. We also had a toddler with us, and the choice of meals for him was great. Again, portion size amazing, will certainly return when out that way. Staff were also very friendly and accommodating, a great local pub that has the added bonus of where it is.

Went to this nice country pub with a group of 6 and our dog. Great staff, you can tell its a family vibe there rather than a dictatorship like so many others. Lovely location in the new forest with lovely decor inside. Nice main menu choice and the specials board is huge! I had the breaded mushrooms for starter. Never had breaded slices of mushroom before so was a nice take on the dish. Had the fish and chips for main and that was very nice too and good portion size. Batter was on the sickly side but think this was because it hadn't drained for that long. And to top it all off they sell Rattler Cornish cider on draught!!!! This is my favourite drink and for me was the deciding factor to go to the pub.

We visited The Fighting Cocks pub whilst on holiday down the road at Sandy Balls. Booked online. We're greeted by very welcoming staff. Food took a little while to come out but was well worth the wait... Delicious, hot and absolutely huge portions! Everyone had something different, but highlight was the steak & ale pie. Yum. Thank you, if we come back to Sandy Balls we'll be sure to visit again.

We often visit here while we’re at our holiday home in Sandy Balls. The food is always good, fast and friendly service too. The kids like to play on the play frame outside and see the donkeys. It is quite pricey, for drinks and food. But the food portions are always large. There is a varied menu, we’ve had plenty of different dishes over the years and never had an issue, it is always tasty.

Went there on holiday for Lunch, and enjoyed it. The Steak and ale suet pie was amazing, but beware it is very filling!!! Selection of beers was not as wide as I would have expected, but ok. Location just on the edge of the New Forest meant a lot of animals being around, great for kids and horsey types.

We stayed at Sandy Balls and came here twice in the week. The pub is a few minutes down the road from the holiday park, which was great because unfortunately we had torrential rain for a couple of days so it was convenient that we didn't have to go far. Both visits were excellent. The staff were really friendly and attentive. I had the venison Ragu both times because it was so good. My Mum had the lamb kofte (special) the first night and the beef brisket the next night. The beef brisket was so tender and just fell apart. The portions were so generous we were too full for dessert 😞 I will definitely visit again.

Nice place to stop for a drink or meal following a walk in the forest! Sunday roast was a generous serving and pretty tasty. Staff were lovely but a couple of the clientele could have done better job controlling their dogs and not staring at strangers!
