Under new management we thought we'd pop in to see what changes had been made. The team were very friendly and hospitable. Unfortunately for us our favourite cornish beer and cider are no longer on draught (one of the main reasons we personally liked picking this venue.) With that being said they st
An amazing location for a pub and sits just before the end of the main road through the forest. Note that animal do roam around the car park. Great drink and food options too, even if you’re travelling past. Food and an alcoholic drink was around £15 each
Lovely traditional pub in a fantastic location (right next to the New Forest). The staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Not only do they have a broad range on the menu, but the food itself is very tasty and great value for money. They're also very dog friendly!
A wonderful pub located on the edge of the New Forest NP where you'll see an abundance of wild horses and wildlife whilst you sit and enjoy a meal or a drink. Dinner of beef and ale pie, a Tomahawk steak was delicious. Friendly staff and warm atmosphere.
It has changed hands since the last time we visited. The menu was unique and inclusive, staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our four legged furry friends were also made to feel very welcome. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food choices and will be back again soon to try out some more of the me
What a little gem of a pub, don’t be put off by the smell of the local donkeys, we had an amazing meal outside in the sunshine, the steak pie was packed with meat and burger was delicious too, lovely staff .. entertained by the donkeys just mooching into the road and making the cars wait till they
Great food, good value, excellent service and lovely place to spend a few hours. Very dog friendly.
We were staying at sand balls with a group of friends and decided to book lunch. The staff were lovely and left a birthday card on the table and put up a banner. It was my 40th and such a lovely touch. The food was brilliant and service was incredible, keeping us topped up with wine! Would definitel
Great food and atmosphere, lovely on a summers day. Would say that this best pub you'll find in the New Forest.
Possibly the best steak pie iv ever had, portion sizes were amazing and very filling. We also had a toddler with us, and the choice of meals for him was great. Again, portion size amazing, will certainly return when out that way. Staff were also very friendly and accommodating, a great local pub tha
Went to this nice country pub with a group of 6 and our dog. Great staff, you can tell its a family vibe there rather than a dictatorship like so many others. Lovely location in the new forest with lovely decor inside. Nice main menu choice and the specials board is huge! I had the breaded mushrooms
Great pub, excellent food and service, spent a few nights in a rental house on our honeymoon with our best man behind the fighting cocks, had a great time, you won't find better pub grub anywhere, sausage and mash was divine x
We visited The Fighting Cocks pub whilst on holiday down the road at Sandy Balls. Booked online. We're greeted by very welcoming staff. Food took a little while to come out but was well worth the wait... Delicious, hot and absolutely huge portions! Everyone had something different, but highlight was
We often visit here while we’re at our holiday home in Sandy Balls. The food is always good, fast and friendly service too. The kids like to play on the play frame outside and see the donkeys. It is quite pricey, for drinks and food. But the food portions are always large. There is a varied menu, we
Went there on holiday for Lunch, and enjoyed it. The Steak and ale suet pie was amazing, but beware it is very filling!!! Selection of beers was not as wide as I would have expected, but ok. Location just on the edge of the New Forest meant a lot of animals being around, great for kids and horsey ty
We stayed at Sandy Balls and came here twice in the week. The pub is a few minutes down the road from the holiday park, which was great because unfortunately we had torrential rain for a couple of days so it was convenient that we didn't have to go far. Both visits were excellent. The staff were rea
Nice place to stop for a drink or meal following a walk in the forest! Sunday roast was a generous serving and pretty tasty. Staff were lovely but a couple of the clientele could have done better job controlling their dogs and not staring at strangers!
