Cute restaurant and a great outdoor area with covered Canopy and heaters. Access to river going through their garden which is lovely for the children during the summer.
All food and drinks are lovely. Our children love the hot chocolates and cakes and I think their sandwiches and sausage rolls are amazing!
An all round lovely restaurant suitable for breakfast, lunch and over night stays.

Bird and Carter is a beautiful restaurant - perfect location and lovely outdoor space. We hired the restaurant for our post-wedding lunch and the food and service was exceptional. Would highly recommend going to Bird and Carter for a meal - Annie and the team were incredible throughout the whole process and made the day really special.
We stayed for 3 nights to attend a family wedding. As stated below the accommodation and food were outstanding, and the location is stunning ,with a beautiful outdoor dining area , which was so perfect in the lovely sunshine.
This was the nicest place we've ever stayed in, and added an extra element to a fantastic wedding weekend.
The jewel in the Crown was the staff , particularly Caroline and Alice in front of house who looked after us so well. They were always smiling and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you again we will be back .
Always friendly, easy atmosphere. Beware closed on Tuesdays. Perfect if walking around the Fonthill Estate (which is gorgeous) for a coffee/lunch stop-off.

It was just perfect. Lovely outdoor space (indoor looked great too but it was sunny) the garden was cute and the stream was something lovely to look at while waiting to eat.
The food was great and served quickly, but not too quick

I almost feel I committed theft given the huge size we got for the price we paid. This was really well maintained and clean, the experience was very pleasant.
Lovely little place with great food. the cauliflower bites was 👌🏽👌🏽 just off the A303 and dog friendly as well. We were a large group and came in slightly late for lunch, so they didn’t have enough portions of everything for folks to try, but whatever we got was really good!! Great folks too:)
We stopped by about lunch time and had some coffees and cake as a picnic in the garden. The guiness cake is the most delicious cake I have ever had. Our over seas guests have left with a great opinion of this village.
Next time we will book a table !
The nicest people, delicious food and delightful environment. Close to A303 so busy this morning with road restriction but the staff are brilliant and always on point. Love this place. Their rooms are wonderful, light, modern and pristine too. A real gem.
Hidden gem of a place. Stayed the night whilst passing through to Polperro. Simple evening menu but excellent quality food and breakfast was also excellent with fantastic coffee! Room was clean and very quiet.
The place was busy (always a good sign) so service was a little slow in the morning but they managed our expectations so we were happy to wait. Staff were friendly and very apologetic for the delay which we completely understood. Hope to stay again one day!
Stopped for an al fresco lunch. Really excellent food with generous portions. Lovely countryside position and a garden with stream running through it. Perfect on a summer's day. Ample parking.

From making an enquiry to book until we left the Bird & Carter everything was excellent. The staff are so obliging and knowledgeable, ensuring that everything is geared towards a lovely stay. It was our first time visiting this area but will hopefully return and would definitely stay at The Bird & Carter.
Had the best food here ! The pulled pork croquette are unreal, highly recommend! Service was amazing. Such lovely staff. 10/10

Room ok smallish but had everything we needed. Didn't like the hanging rail over the tea and coffee.
Breakfast was lovely.
Outside room perfect with the dog. Lovely riverside.

I stayed at Bird & Carter B&B over Christmas with my brother as space at my family home was limited, despite a different set up to usual for the Christmas period, our stay at B&C was perfect. The rooms were beautifully decorated, clean, warm and extremely comfortable. The cooked breakfasts were delicious using quality ingredients, and different options were available outside of the usual full English as well. The staff were friendly and attentive. Location of the B&B is stunning, minutes away from the Fonthill estate. Highly recommend!
