Lovely freshly prepared food, we had the fish and chips, good sized portion and reasonably priced. Lots of history on the pub within the restaurant. Staff were friendly and welcoming too.
This is a beautiful old building, full of history and character, both inside and out.
We wandered in around 7ish.
The food was good, reasonably priced, and plenty of it, great for those with a hearty appetite :0)
I had the belly draft whilst my partner in hunger had the seafood platter, minus the squid.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They were friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed. The tables were not crammed together, and although the pub wasn't that big, it felt spacious. Loved the roaring fire.
Was dog friendly when we went as there were a couple of well-behaved furry friends enjoying the atmosphere too.
Will definitely be returning here, hopefully on a night with live music.
The food tasted really nice. The portion could have been bigger, but overall the combination of all seafoods together in the meal with the sauce might it delicious.
The banofee pie was my favorite thing I ate on my entire UK trip. Standing ovation for that. I also enjoyed the apple sausages and mash. I loved the live folk music too. Wonderful atmosphere, food and memories.
A very lively little pub, even on a Monday night, and a very friendly mixed crowd of all ages. I loved the historic 'long house' building, with its low beamed ceiling and stone walls...and of course the thought that major historic events had taken place there.
The staff were very efficient and friendly, the food was very fresh and in generous portions, and the wine list was better than the average. Highly recommended!
We went here as a group on a Tuesday night and we were delighted to see and hear and local folk group playing and singing folk songs. It made the experience completely different to most pubs I've been too.
Order at the bar and give them your table number... and food comes quite quickly... within 20 minutes at the most. There are lots of serving people going around, checking tables and delivering food. So service is really good.
I had the seafood chowder with a baguette, and it had loads of seafood (as you would expect). It was tasty and well worth the money. Looking at the pork chop.. I got food envy, so that's probably well worth ordering as well.
I passed on dessert as the chowder filles me up, but the ones I saw looked pretty nice.
They serve food until 9pm, so it's good if you get to town late.
Well worth a visit... especially on a Tuesday night.
Why only 4 stars? The food was good, but not great. A chowder normally has potatoes to thicken up the sauce and my seafood chowder was basically fish, a little celery, one pea and a white wine tarragon sauce. After the visit (and initial review) my friend said the pork chops was OK, but not great.
We stayed in the air bnb above the pub, as well as having meals and drinks down below too.
The accommodation was immaculate, huge living space across multiple levels. Bedrooms were all spacious. The only downsides were that one roof window had a dodgy handle, so difficult to open, and the TV seemed to have a black streak on the right side.
The restaurant was amazing, and the food matched it. Always a buzz around. Would stay here again for sure.
Unexpectedly good pub in the centre of Fishguard, great beer and reasonable prices. Loads of room inside, and a fabulous outside terrace area with views over the lower town. Judging by the number of tables reserved, the food must be good but we weren’t hungry this time!
Really incredible view, beautiful food and great service. There was live folk music the evening we went and the kids loved it, all sat in the circle while the musicians played around them. They even gave them small instruments to play. Stunning outside area and the chowder was just delicious!!
Good food but not a lot of gluten free choice.
EDIT: been glutened and now in Saint. If you are celiac I would avoid as something in my dinner must have been cross contaminates.
